Jay – I try to, but I can barely keep up with getting 10 listings on per day. So having extras to save for the days I don’t list is almost impossible. That is why I was hoping you would try it. You have workers who hustle on the days they work for you. I would guess that they easily have extras to spill over onto the days they don’t work.
Thanks for the support Old Dad 🙂Hi Jay, Thanks for responding 🙂 I know this has been talked about before, but I do actually think there is something to it. I know you enjoy testing theories as much as I do, so I thought it might be a fun thing to try. Not sure a test at this time of year would be fair though – the holiday sales would probably throw off the results.
My store is small – only 1180 items at this moment. I have been selling on ebay for years, but it took listening to you guys to encourage me to make it a full time gig. I usually aim to get about 10 – 15 items on a day. I rarely make it every day – which tend to be followed by days of little to no sales. Which of course, fuels my activity equals sales conspiracy theory. Thanks for everything you guys do. I look forward to your podcast every week!11/25/2017 at 11:50 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Pan Am bags, hats, refrigerator dishes, lamp, egg scale, Polaroid, Angel chimes #26929Christine – I was so disappointed when I clicked on your link to discover that your listing title did not actually include the words “Stinky French Mens Cologne”. I was sure that was what won them over 😉 LOL
Steve – so sorry for your loss! I always loved watching how that kitty was so confident around the dogs. What a sweetie!
I agree – I think it would look nice on a mantle. I was able to look at it yesterday & it was HUGE. I’m glad it didn’t work out – that would have been such a pain to pack!
It sold for $42 w/out reserve being met.
I’m hoping it will still be there when I go to pick up the items I won – I still want to check it out!
& I am really thankful for it!! I’ll try to update you all with what it ends up selling for.
I am totally blown away by your researching skills. I looked for quite a while & found nothing & you took, what – 2 minutes? amazing.
Ryanne – crap, you might be right – that does look like it.
Thing is… the pics on google look OLD – like really beat up. This one just doesn’t quite have that authentic look. I can’t help but think it was just made to look old.
Its already over $25 and they have a reserve on it, so I think I’m too chicken to risk it.
Hi Amtino – That has the right look, but not sure if they made them of wood.
I really appreciate everyone’s input. I have decided to pass on the listing. I am leaning more and more to it being a decorative reproduction – just made to look old.
Adventuree – No reason to call them – they don’t know what it is either 😉
The seller is claiming that it is a 16th Century Oxen cart wheel. & maybe it is. I have no idea!
I was just hoping someone on here would have a better idea of what it is for sure.
Jay – I did check the solds, couldn’t find anything like it. Lots of old wheels, but nothing quite like this.
I was mostly hoping someone might know what this type of wheel was used for. It is an unusual design and I was hoping someone had seen it before.
(& yes, I would over-price it myself – I learned from the best 😉 )
thanks!
This is the only listing on ebay I could find that looks like it. They are saying theirs is a pulley wheel. I would think for it to be a pulley – it would need a groove on the edges?
Jay – I think the hole is centered. I think they just took the photo from above and it makes it look off-centered.
Yes, if it were a real antique primitive wheel – it would be worth some money.
The wood just doesn’t quite look right to me. It sort of looks like it was bleached or fake-weathered. The patina for a real antique wood seems off. I could be totally wrong though!?
Rick – I’m pretty sure the hole is centered in the middle. I don’t think it is flat – it looks like it bulges out on the sides, but is thinner on the edges – which makes me doubt it was used for a cart. This auction site doesn’t always take the greatest pictures and I don’t have time to go check it out in person.
I am leaning towards passing on it. The more I look at it, the more I think it looks like it is just made to look old.
Also – do you think it is really old or just made to look that way?
