So Cal Joe – that is a good idea about writing a check! It was a bit of a drive, so I doubt they would want to send someone. I was worried about sending the cash, so I like your idea. I might try to contact them again tomorrow. thanks!
omfug – that would be such a bummer to lose that much money! But, if you posted you found $50, you would have a ton of people claiming it was theirs 😉
I tried to call the church to let them know, but the number I have is their old one. I plan on just mailing it to that address – I’m sure it will be forwarded to their new address.
It was an exciting feeling to see all that money & then immediately sort of a downer realizing I couldn’t keep it. LOL

Yep, you guys are correct. My tax lady realized that the school would be giving me a letter showing that they received the donation – and that would be my “receipt” for taxes, so she agreed that it was ok. I have been super busy lately & just hadn’t gotten around to posting the update. Glad it will be working out! Jay and Ryanne always talk about how they see the perfect buyer for an item & I could totally see this in a setting like this – so I am thrilled to send it to it’s new home!
Just thought I would update. Finally heard back from my tax lady. She said the only donation I could deduct would be based off the price that I ORIGINALLY paid for it. Bummer! So that totally makes it not worth hassling with. I was completely wrong in thinking it would be based on the price I was asking for it. Oh well…

Amatino – I had to laugh thinking about calling ebay & asking them 😉 Can you imagine the poor customer service rep trying to respond to a weird question like this?! LOL
No, it’s legit. It was a teacher who is involved in the restoration who contacted me and gave multiple links to articles on the restoration. I don’t think people consider it odd because the donor would be getting a tax deduction. Normally I just ignore requests like this, but I am sort of considering this one because I could totally see it displayed in a setting like that.
I picked up some shoe inserts from a dollar tree. They have the lines on them to cut them down to fit different sized shoes. I slip these inside shoes and have had really good luck getting the correct sizes using this method.
JMO, but I think the shades that are on them take away from the look/style they are. I personally would list them without the shades or look for ones that are better suited to that style. Good luck!
LOL – Mom was very pleased to have both of you respond! & I totally knew you would say that Jay! My Mom feels pretty much that way – just wants to get it over with. I personally just hate it when people are dishonest, so it’s hard for me to give in.
Blackcat – she did send pics, but nothing really showed up in the pics since it is a black dress. Guess we’ll see when it is returned!
Ryanne – yes, she did open a case. I guess she has already mailed it, so when she gets it back, we will see how bad it is and go from there. She was pretty nasty, so that always adds a ugly element to a return. thanks so much for your help. Really appreciate all you guys do!
