07/09/2018 at 9:49 pm in reply to: New shipping label page on eBay is costing me more than classic shipping page! #44975
Steph said she sold and shipped an item tonight and didn’t get the new label page. So they must only be rolling it out to a select few sellers at a time. Fun fun!
07/09/2018 at 9:31 pm in reply to: New shipping label page on eBay is costing me more than classic shipping page! #44974I just tried it with a first class package. The price was inconstant across both versions. So whatever it was was only affecting my priority mail packages.
07/09/2018 at 9:19 pm in reply to: New shipping label page on eBay is costing me more than classic shipping page! #44973And I just noticed the new label page is only offering $50 of free insurance with priority mail while I would have received $100 insurance with the classic label page.

Number of New Items Listed this Week: 0Well, after my first week of opening my store back up, sales sucked. But I kind of expected that. I haven’t listed any new items for over a month. But the good news is, I’ve nearly got my eBay workspace complete. I’ve just go to hang some more lights and acquire a good chair and I’ll be back at it in no time. I’ll post a video once it’s complete along with the video I took of my old workspace before I packed it all up. It’ll be a Pimp my eBay Office post.
So as I mentioned before, I spent 8 hours replacing all of the missing photos that got deleted from my listings. It was such a pain in the butt, and a waste of time too! I’m glad eBay apologized, but a little compensation would have been greatly appreciated!
07/06/2018 at 10:34 am in reply to: Scanning Photos in eBay Listings & Reimbursement from eBay for Missing Photos #44594I may have to try and see if I can get any sort of reimbursement as well. I spent 8 hours re-uploading my missing photos. Do you know around where Lyndey mentions this in the video?
BrianB, I’m glad you made it through without too much damage. Wet carpet is so awful to move! I’ll never forget when my basement got flooded last year. It taught me a lot about better inventory practices: Securing shelving, not using cardboard boxes to store things in, keeping things a few inches above the ground when possible (although in my case it that wouldn’t have helped with 4 feet of water). One of the reasons we moved to our new house is because it’s nowhere near a flood plain. I hope you can get everything back to normal soon!
I ended up manually replacing all my missing photos yesterday rather than waiting to see if eBay would come up with a solution. It took me about 8 hours, but now I have peace of mind knowing I’m not losing sales due to lack of pictures. I wish I could bill eBay for my time fixing their screw up.
I do, but they’re not organized very well. It’ll take me a long time to add them back in. I’m debating if I should start doing that or wait and see if eBay comes up with a fix that will retrieve them.
Hello everyone! I’m back after a hiatus whilst moving to my new home. I had a bit of catching up to do on the podcasts. The move went well. Took two weeks off and spent every day of it hauling and unpacking. I’m still very exhausted from everything, but I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel thankfully. I shut my eBay store down for the move and I’m glad I did. Nothing got damaged, but I didn’t need the stress while everything was happening.
I just opened my store back up yesterday and almost immediately made a sale. I just hope our new USPS deliverer does package pickups as well as our last one.
I’ve read about the eBay fiasco with people losing their pictures, so I checked and sure enough, 249 of my listings have only a single picture in the gallery. There’s a fast way to check to see which listings have been affected. I went to http://www.isdntek.com/ebaytools/BulkPhotoScanner.htm, put my store name in and clicked Fast Scan. This may take a while depending on your store size. After the scan, it gives you the option below to create a report. I chose CSV All, built the report and copied and pasted everything into an Excel or Google spreadsheet. From there you can sort by the SECOND “PhotoURLs” column (column “I” for me) to figure out which listings only contain one photo. I hope this helps, and I can clarify if anyone needs me to.

Sheffield Sterling Cake Utensils06/15/2018 at 11:05 am in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Trucker hats, Stereo equipment, Old mechanics creeper, Omemee tea cup, Vintage Canister Set, Water blaster #42582I love that kitchen canister set! I’ve never seen a new-in-box one before. Great find! I made a few notable sales last week. Here are some highlights…
Old box cameras are extremely hit or miss (with mostly misses). Since you can’t really develop the old style film anymore, the only people who want these are collectors. I still can’t resist buying them at auctions though because they intrigue me. This one is unique. It was Kodak’s smallest box camera called the Premo No 00 and is kind of rare. It and a few other cameras and things came out of a nightstand that I bought for $22 total. It only took a couple weeks to sell for full price of $60.
Kodak No 00 Premo Box CameraI LOVE little vintage tools! I’m learning a lot about which tools and which brands to really keep an eye out for. Starrett is one of those brands that you really can’t go wrong if you can get them cheap enough. This pair of tiny rule clamps came out of a box lot that I paid $13 for (each sellable item comes to $.98 cents). They sold within a week for $30.
Vintage Starrett Rule ClampsThis was my big sale of the week. This pair of Sheffield sterling handled cake serving utensils came from a box long that I really paid up for ($115 for box lot / $16.50 each sellable item), but I almost tripled my profit from that so far. They took awhile to sell probably because I couldn’t find the pattern name and there was some Hebrew engravings on the blades, but I took a best offer of $75 for them.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/302436525251Here’s a small collection of photo slides that I acquired for almost nothing. They’re all car related, but I don’t know what make or models they were. I listed them anyways and they sold after a few weeks for $18. Selling lots of slides is a newish venture for me. I’ve been scanning them in, slapping a quick watermark on them, and taking a photo of them all together on a slide sorter. Then I put the best slide as the main photo. We’ll see how that works out because I have literally thousand of slides to sell!
Vintage Automobile Photo SlidesThis last sale was interesting. I pulled this zip-up binder out of a pile of junk at a really dirty amateur estate sale. Inside was full of these NASA Facts educational pamphlets from the 60s and 70s. It was a really neat collection. I listed it high and waited for the right buyer. Took a few months but it sold for $50.
Collection of NASA Facts EphemeraThanks, Jay! We have some great ideas for inventory. With the amount of space in the basement alone, we’ll be able to operate so much better, and not have to be constantly surrounded by inventory in our day to day living space. I took a video of what I currently have to work with before I tear everything down. I’ll make another video showcasing my new space once it’s set up, then I’ll post them here.

Number of New Items Listed this Week: 42Great podcast! Especially the first part about worry and stress. I need to make sure my partner listens to this one. She will stress herself out to the point of a nervous breakdown sometimes over the smallest things or stuff that she has no control over. I’m on the other end of the spectrum. I’m chill almost to a fault. Maybe that’s why we make a good team? LOL
I came down with another nasty bug last week. I’m still battling it. Sore throat, ear infection, and now I just found out I have pink eye. I just can’t win. This is the worst possible time for be to be sick with all the packing I have to do for the move to the new house. But the good news is, we finally closed the deal today! What a stressful event! Contrary to what I mentioned above, even I was stressed out!
Sales were soft last week, but that’s just fine by me. I’ve got so much going on in my life at the moment that I don’t think I could deal with the 5-10 sales a day that I was getting a couple months ago. Starting now for a few weeks, I’m even going to stop listing in order to focus on the move and the minor repairs that the new place needs. I fact, I’m thinking about turning my store off maybe tomorrow until I get my new workspace set up just for peace of mind. It would be my luck that something breaks on the truck and then sells before I can notice.
06/07/2018 at 9:45 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Vintage combs, Souvenir batting helmets, Soldering gun, Wind up car, Tilley Airflo hat, Pinup matchbook collection #41954Those are some cool matchbook covers! I didn’t make a whole lot of interesting sales, but here’s a few of them…
I’ll start off with my big sale of the week. I acquired this vintage International Harvester cooling system cleaner can in a box lot of other garage advertising cans that I got for $17.50. This is one of those brands that people love to collect as I found out when I did some price searching. I thought it would do well as an auction, so I started it at $65 which was about what I would have priced it anyway. By the end of the auction, it sold for $162!
International Harvester CanI started buying these Napa Valley wood media holders whenever I saw them, but realized that they were really taking up a lot of space in my inventory. And they’re kind of a pain to ship. But still, they sell reliably enough. This CD rack sold for $45. I paid $1.40 for it at a thrift store.
Napa Valley CD Storage RackI’m a sucker for analog gauges and scientific measuring instruments. Sometimes they can pay off. Here’s a good example. It’s an altimeter made by Taylor Instruments. I found it at an estate sale and I thought I overpaid for it at $15. Well it took a few months but it finally sold for full price of $100!
Taylor Instruments Analog AltimeterHere’s a neat set of eight glass tumblers made by Libbey. I got these in a box lot for a dollar. They took a long time to sell, but I got a good price of $37 for them. Not fun to pack but they arrived in one piece.
Libbey Harvest Wheat Tumblers06/04/2018 at 8:27 pm in reply to: Could anyone with a Worthpoint account help me out for a moment? #41700Awesome! Thanks, friend. I’ll probably price mine a bit higher anyways since it’ll be the only one up there and it’s a collectable. But still, it’s nice to know what they’ve sold for. I would love to have access to WorthPoint’s data, but I just can’t justify paying $200 a year to only need to use it a few times.
