Can someone explain this to me? Otherwise, I’d say it a pretty glaring glitch on eBay! They’ve started implementing that new shipping label page with the option to switch back to the classic label page (but you have to click it for every item you sell). I’ve decided to try the new style since they’ll be phasing the classic out, but then I noticed that they were charging me a different price for the same label on the new vs. classic page! I made some screenshots to show everyone. And it wasn’t just this item. It was charging me more for the previous thing I sold too! I’m hoping someone else could check it out on the next item they sell and see if either I’m screwing something up or if eBay is having a big issue with overcharging for shipping.
Here’s the screenshots:

And I just noticed the new label page is only offering $50 of free insurance with priority mail while I would have received $100 insurance with the classic label page.

I just tried it with a first class package. The price was inconstant across both versions. So whatever it was was only affecting my priority mail packages.

Steph said she sold and shipped an item tonight and didn’t get the new label page. So they must only be rolling it out to a select few sellers at a time. Fun fun!

I tried to recreate this on our end, but I don’t have anything that shows that there is a New Shipping Label page to try. Where did you see this option to try the new Shipping Label page?

It didn’t ask me or give me the option to opt in. It might be one of those “trial” things where certain sellers “volunteer” to test it out before rolling it out to everyone.
By the way, the new design is just awful. The classic had everything on the screen as soon as you pulled up the page without any scrolling. The new design forces you to scroll down to pick all of your options. Poor web design if you ask me.

Ick.
I get that too. I love the ShipRush interface much more. It takes a bit to learn, but once the setup is done, it is one click printing.

I have the new shipping page and have had it for about a week. I ship some of my clothing items in padded flat rate envelopes. My postage cost has always been $6.90 (as of the last USPS increase). Starting on Monday, 07/09/18, my postage for same increased to $7.10. I’m not sure if my other shipping costs were increased or not.

Ouch. Looks like you aren’t getting the Top Rated Seller discount on that page.
I would call eBay, have them see the issue (you can send them screen shots if you have to). They need to get that fixed an give you a reimbursement.
I’m going to keep an eye on our prices in ShipRush. Should be different and OK, but better to make sure.

yeah it looks like your discount is not translating to the new page. and you should be getting reimbursed for that, so give ebay a call. let us know what they say.

Update…just spent over 60 minutes on the phone with an eBay rep (who doesn’t speak or understand the English language) trying to make him understand the problem. He finally said someone would call me back in 72 hours (bets anyone?). I was overcharged on ALL priority mail labels I did with the new interface for yesterday, 7/9 and today, 7/10. Media mail and 1st class are not affected. The new interface also shows only $50 insurance with priority mail instead of the $100. I will go back to the old interface (you have to select it on every label) to print until the latest glitch is fixed. I have sent three messages as well from the “tell us what you think” button on the print label page. I have 7 labels I was overcharged for, and no, I won’t be letting it go like they are hoping for. Anyone with the new printing interface…don’t use it.

I’ve just switched back to the Classic shipping page from the new one and also noticed that it’s cheaper to ship. I was being charged $7.10 for Priority, but it’s only $6.70 normally.
I liked the all-in-one of the printing (the shipping options are listed below, rather than opening a new window) but I don’t like that I can’t just move on to a new label or return to my seller hub.
It seems like there are a bunch of folks working there who spend all day trying to “improve” eBay. Oh eBay, if it ain’t broke, please don’t fix it!

I’m glad it wasn’t just me then. This can cause major problems for eBay if they don’t get it fixed ASAP. Luckily, I caught it before I bought the inflated shipping labels. If I get time today, I may call them and explain what’s going on. Whether they’ll listen is another story. But I’ve got screenshots to prove it.
On the new label page as well as the classic, it give you a percentage of how much you’ll be saving when buying labels on eBay. In my example above, that number is different (14% on classic as opposed to 11% on new). That’s probably the cause of the inconsistent prices…but why the difference in the first place? Recognizing the wrong category of the item maybe? Not recognizing top rated seller status?
And yeah, I couldn’t figure out how to move on to the next item I sold after I printed a label. That seems like a vital button or link to have there. Points that I’ll bring up to the rep along with the insurance discrepancy.

My store was closed for a month, and when I opened back up and shipped the first item, the new shipping page opened up. I had no clue…I’ve been trying to “learn” it, having read that the old version is going to be phased out after the summer. I always seem to get the new versions of whatever they’re rolling out.
First of all, just printing a label now involves so many more steps…then there’s the decrease in the amount of insurance on priority (from $100 to $50 of coverage). Although sometimes it still shows $100 of coverage. WTH??
If you want to add insurance above the $100, the only option is to use Shipcover.Interestingly, when you select an international item to ship and hit “Print shipping label” it sends you to the old page.
You cannot send an email message to your buyer from the page anymore.
I have left them feedback every single time I have printed labels on the new system. I didn’t notice a difference in prices from old to new because I was mainly printing on the new page. Today I will start tracking that also. Between this issue and the RIDICULOUS missing photos issue, I have spent most of my “work” time trying to fix the stuff they have screwed up.
