@Retro congrats! I’m so impressed that you were able to power through that huge buy out. Plus you had the bravery to pay up. Way to go!
So evidently I successfully ran the beta. I tried to estimate what would be $100 but it ended up ending after spending $50. I had no way to control was was promoted and there seemed to be no rhyme or reason as to the 100 items they chose out of 1200. Vintage, new, all price points, etc. For $50 (credit) I sold 4 items. Definitely not worth it!
Results:
$236 Sold, 4 Sales, $243.72 ROAS 4.95 Sales conversion rate 1.69%, Average CPC $0.21, Ad fees $49.24
Of course half of my orders today were ground across country. If it’s close to what they paid, I’m upgrading to priority, but some are $20 for two pound small packages it looks like…

Number of items listed this week: 38Busy week of Ebay hustling, running sales, making offers, shipping. ASP was ok, all things considered. Lower than I’d like. Hoping for a good day – last day for guaranteed priority.
Thinking about my 2024 strategies and will use the slow time to reorganize. If I’m lucky my college son will agree to get rid of some stuff in his closet so I can make a little more storage…
@Thanks. Yes that’s what I’ve been doing as well. Maybe not paying quite enough attention to the actives but I just eyeball it briefly.
@Julie I have usually shut my store down the few days before xmas as well but I decided to leave it open this time and deal with it. A few years ago a buyer was able to purchase things and pick Fed Ex Ebay shipping. Then I couldn’t buy and print the label. I ended up honoring the sale and buying a very expensive label at the counter since it was some poor guy buying his wife a present. I hope I never have that glitch again.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235087419979 This was from the big new in package linen purchase at the high volume regional thrift. I’m into profit on that haul for sure.
My other favorite sale was allegedly to a Lahaina fire victim. I deeply discounted after she reached out. It then shipped to Nevada but I like to think the better of people and wished her well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/335153485346
This week was so fun at the flea market! Everything I bought was $1! I bought some Ikea linens and some clothing from the $1. Plus a pair of decent condition Hoka sneakers for $1. Then he had an atomic Silver Pine Fransican plate – unfortunately only a single – for $1. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235347114731 I’ve sold this before and love this pattern. This is the guy who gets the overpriced stuff and rejected stuff from the college kid thrift by the ton.
Then, there was a surfer guy selling his mom or grandma’s stuff. Got a little bit of vintage Christmas from him. Had a nice chat as my son needs surf lessons and he teaches in Ventura and sells used boards. Another story of someone selling big on Facebook because he had one bad experience on Ebay. He had loads of small Disney, M&M, and Peanuts stuff. I could have made a deal for all of it, but it’s just not my jam and I encouraged him to put it up online himself. I bought some Dept 56. He was sweet and grateful for the advice but reluctant to deal with Ebay. He was hoping to get half the value at the flea.
Finally, there was a cute lady – she calls me and everyone mama with her accent – everything $1. Somehow she ended up with a bunch of Pottery Barn and Restoration Hardware returns. I probably should have bought the long tail monogrammed stuff for a buck. Have already sold a few items from her booth. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235344506074 https://www.ebay.com/itm/335165798664
My last find was in our Christmas Wrap box. I paid $1 a couple of years ago. Had a barcode so I looked it up and was shocked at the prices. Unfortunately some of the cards are missing. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235347316635
34 for me. I’m trying to squeeze in some sales before the dead zone happens this week after shipping cutoff. I keep finding more Christmas here and there that I forgot about. I *think* I’m on my last bit today. A big bag of vintage ornaments.
@Retro I agree that STR and listing are key. You have been listing some pretty desirable stuff.
I still have some old listed picks and death piles to get through. I’m a better picker now but still do buy some longer tail stuff. A lot of that has room to try a higher promoted fee – worth it in theory if it moves out of here faster.
The other variable is price. You and I both seem have good sourcing available. I’ve been shooting on the high end. How are you doing your pricing and offers?
PS. Also wanted to share that in Ebay for Business podcast they said they were working on the slow loading of photos in the app, so I’m happy about that. Didn’t specify when it would be improved or I can’t recall on that point.
@Sharon I’m giving this a lot of thought. Running sales seems to be helping me right now but in the past before Xmas season not so effective. I’m thinking after the holiday and post holiday sales season is over I might switch to upping promoted during the slow time. The other option is coupons, which I’ve heard mixed things about.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/335156764881 Someone had a search out for this and it sold immediately best offer auto accept. My practice is to put best offer on everything right away, but I’ve sold a pillow from this line before and should have known better. Paid $3
Sold this doggie to a prop house in Hollywood today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235243938750
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235335718800 Find of the week was another animal metal sculpture. The old ladies put it in the cheap section of the thrift store with a silly ribbon on it. LOL
https://www.ebay.com/itm/235335717929 Runner up is this tiki mug that was hiding in the china section behind some random stuff and not at all with the glasses.
