Number of items listed: 29!Finally got back to listing while home sick from work. Started with some atomic dishware and craft kits, some of my favorite things to list. Traveling on the weekends and enjoyed the podcast on the road!
Thanks Jay. oops scrolled down the message and see that the new item specifics are to be added 10/15. Confusing because it says revise now at the top.
BTW, can anyone confirm that there is NOT a way to search for your active listings that are missing item specifics? I googled and searched the forum briefly but didn’t see anything on point.
Question: do sellers put embroidery as a general key word on kits or art that are needlepoint and cross stitch?
Getting back from my Ebay hiatus. I still have a couple of extra distractions but getting a break from work with a bad cold so started listing again. I had one $19 sale on an expired best offer last week – ugh.
I really like the Terapeak 12 month history. I was able to find out the brand of vintage item by seeing one new in package that had sold. I wish you could view the whole listing older than 3 months, but I’m liking it for research on the pricing.
It’s also interesting how the app has changed. I do have a delay after creating on the desktop and then trying to add pics on the app, but the photos are loading faster.
I’m sure I missed a lot this summer but I’m grateful for the podcast for keeping me somewhat in the loop on the changes with Ebay. Looks like I have an email about the new home and garden item specifics being added so will need to update listings.
Well I finally got back in the action with 13 items listed. That’s 10 unique listings. Did some tinkering on almost expired listings, bumped promoted from 1 to 2%. Was rewarded with one $19 sale. Oof. Maybe will catch a break this week but I’ll be out of town this weekend.
Hi ladies, I’ve been out of the Ebay business except shipping but things are finally starting to calm down. My dad was hospitalized out of state, recovered, and now has moved into the condo I spent the summer renovating for him. Back to school busyness is pretty much done too. Have a three extra projects/distractions going on through November, but I’m feeling like I can get back to listing.
In the midst of all the chaos this summer, I’m kind of embarrassed to admit it here but we got rats in our garage. :O We’ve never had a problem like that and live in the city. So, everything is coming out of the garage to clean even though we took care of that quickly. They didn’t get into my ebay stuff, but I started pulling out boxes to store at my dads and get them out of the way. And now getting to the point of this post – I took like 10 bankers boxes over to my dad’s condo closet while I undertake this. The sad fact of it is that the backlog still looks like a ton. Some boxes contain stuff from my parents’ house BUT STILL! I must say that all of this has me left with no appetite for purchasing (which I pretty much didn’t have time for lately anyway) and some urgency to list and price reasonably. Ugh to the death piles.
I’m still fairly hesitant to donate items, but I know there is some great stuff as well as some lower dollar stuff I would not buy now. I have some listed duds too.
@chaoticgood I’m kind of a slow lister as well, though I’ve become faster. I still have boxes of newbie death piles. What I did was reorganize it into like items since that helps list a bit faster. I then bring one bankers box at a time up to the listing space and it is very rewarding to finish one. I also wrote down all of the categories of items and highlighted them based on getting ahead of the seasonal demand. Knowing I have not too much time for listing, I’m going for holiday items next. I’ve been stubbornly resisting donating items, but with shipping costs going up and up, probably I should reevaluate. Good luck!
The internet age is changing things in all kinds of profound ways. I thought it was interesting that the article pointed out online shopping making an impact. When I grew up, shopping in the mall was a favorite pastime. Gen Z is spending more time at home and online. You don’t need an exciting big city do to that. Maybe just a really good coffee shop. My son is already wanting to leave California due to taxes looking for affordability and space from the neighbors. He hasn’t even started working yet! Maybe people are also getting more exposure (at least online) to new places than they used to and are more open to migration. Information is readily available about the greener grass elsewhere…

Number of items listed this week: 0Ok, hoping doing my numbers will get me moving with the listing. Sales picked up a bit with best offers and make offers (they countered). I’m taking any reasonable offer if it’s already listed. I’m sucked into a school fundraiser again this Fall, but we have more help to execute this year, so load for me will be lighter later. Worked on that this week and wrapping up a few last details at my dad’s place. Just one more back to school related event this week and then we are pretty settled. Lots of extra teen expenses for the school year, so I could really use the “extra” Ebay money.
Generally pleased with no whammies in the seller update. I’m going to wait to revisit my existing listings because there are new item specifics rolling out in October for Home and Garden and Crafts, two of my big categories. I’ll table that clean up work. I’m mulling over the approach being discussed by History Nerd, with the $ price cutoff for free shipping, but I’m leaning toward keeping it first class and media mail free only.

Thank you both. I totally use the PFR but wondering what people use the cardboard flat rate envelope. It would have to be over a pound but thin and not too wide. Vintage sheets I put in the PFR but probably should have done the cardboard one as it’s a bit cheaper.
I just got a notice that they are adding item specifics to Home and Garden in early October, so I might wait until then to update my old listings. I only have 152 unique ones left – wow.

I finally have my dad moved in and almost unpacked. There are just a few clean up items left and a half day of cleaning construction dust and unpacking. I should be able to resume listing shortly. I really should clean up my old listings first and do inventory since I’m down by half to just about 200 listings. I’ve have to admit being distracted during the podcasts over the summer. I do recall this:
Delete parcel select.
FedEx Home for any packages over 12x12x12, not USPS.
Use flat rate for priority whenever possible.
Don’t sign up for managed payments until required.Anything else I missed? I think FedEx Smartpost does not produce any savings over home, correct? I don’t often have too many heavy things that fit into the regional boxes but should keep that in mind. Finally, I rarely use the paper flat rate envelopes vs. first class. What kind of item are people using those for?

Yes, the bin building was HUGE. I don’t know how I would like that style of picking but there are bound to be good finds in there somewhere.
Re the homeless, we have a really serious problem and controversy here. It’s very sad to see them lying in the storefronts and all over the parks. Unfortunately my kids were both threated and talked to when they were very small. Some of our local chronically homeless are very seriously mentally ill without good support from the County government, which is not well run. We have a lot of resources aimed at fighting homelessness in our town but some refuse to take advantage either because they can’t or won’t. It’s kind of all coming to a head but the local leaders are trying to come together on a plan. On a tangent here just to clarify that I’m not without compassion for the homeless. It was just very Pleasantville in Boulder compared to here. One time at the Goodwill downtown a homeless guy asked me if I wanted to give him a haircut. I politely declined. 🙂
Feel better A!Yes, handymen are $45 here and they often bring and sub (cheaper) help at that price, so that’s probably really good pay for your area.
I know please direct me to do the maintenance! I need to hear that.
Hi Ladies, I’m impressed with all of your listings. Especially you, A, since you and I seem to struggle the most.
VT, we went to Boulder via Denver. It was so beautiful in the town and on campus. We were struck by the lack of homeless in Boulder parks and downtown. Also everything is much newer and tidier. We live in a beautiful city, but we all really liked Colorado. Off the highway, I noticed huge bin places and a lot of thrifts too. Sadly, did not get in any picking but just as well since I’m hogtied from listing.
