I wouldn’t have bought them if there was only one or two, but since it was 16 and I got a hell of a deal (everything I purchased that day averaged out to $8.18 per piece, and $150 of that was for a Carl Schlieper 2 piece stag knife set). I have a Maid Marian from Robin Hood that appears to be rare going by eBay prices. The rest were in the $20-$40 range.

It’s a vacation but I will be sourcing stuff to sell as well. That is why I was asking about partial deductions.
05/31/2017 at 6:55 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 312: Is eBay Removing Old listings? #18846That makes a lot more sense now. Here, box lots are generally at the end, which can be great, because the crowd is gone. That is probably why the good stuff goes higher too, many people are there for the cream and leave afterwards. I live just south of Louisville, so I have plenty of opportunities for yard sales. In fact, when I look at my yard sale map in the summer I am overwhelmed. I make a list and a route, and follow it as well as I can, but I rarely get through it. There are just so many. The craziest part is I go to almost the same area every week. Too rich – too expensive or lackluster items. Too poor – low quality. Middle class – Gold. Week after week. If I was to do this full time, I would be at auctions every week too. Since I work a 9-5, I settle for where I can do the most damage in a 4 hour window on Saturday 🙂

05/31/2017 at 4:27 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 312: Is eBay Removing Old listings? #18837You all mentioned in the podcast this week that you prefer auctions to yard sales because of the amount of stuff that you can get vs the other. I have to ask what kind of auctions you are frequenting? Are they the weekly consignment auction houses we have around here in KY or are they the estate auctions that happen on Saturday at 10am? I have been to many of both, and outside of a few instances I just don’t find that much for the time spent (box lots are at the end and a lot of the good stuff soars to crazy prices). On the other hand, I have very good success with yard and estate sales. I target the neighborhood sales to hit many in a small amount of time and can really clean up. I run 4-5 hours on a Saturday and come home with a car load (and theoretically, can make it to an auction for the box lots) that takes me the week to list (usually 30-60 items).

Fair enough. I couldn’t find anything either. I’m thinking about keeping it. I really kinda like it. If not, I’ll slap $40 on it and see what happens. Thanks.
Indeed. It was a $5 pickup at the Goodwill yesterday. I like it as well, which is why I picked it up. It’s also has a nice dark frame and of course it’s signed. I’d like to find someone who could ID the artist as I’d like to see more of his or her stuff.
05/11/2017 at 1:42 pm in reply to: What Sells On eBay: Tapes, Empty reels, LP Record Boxes, Antique photo album, Vtg Bike helmet, Ancient speaker #17854I mentioned this in another thread, but I never modify my photos. I make sure they are how I want them when I take them, then I upload them.
04/28/2017 at 4:20 pm in reply to: Pro tip: Fotosizer! bulk rotate, fix white balance, add brightness/contrast #17231I don’t modify my photos. 98% come out as I would like and the rest I describe in the listing (Some colors seem to not photograph well and I just deal with it). I only have to rotate photos when I turn my camera. Not a big deal. Takes less than 20 seconds per listing. I don’t want yet another single use program and certainly not at a cost.

I love finding old RL stuff! I always pick it up. Unfortunately, I have never found anything quite like this, but I have found 3 of the teddy bear items. Two sweatshirt and a pullover fleece. Paid less than $8 for all three (not the same place or time) and sold them for around $300. Seemingly anything RL that is unusual will sell. I have also sold RL puffer ski vests and jackets along with the more modern baseball caps and they all sell quickly and well and you can usually get them very cheap!
