I recommend refunding immediately (you can deduct shipping and any return shipping if paid). I had a big heavy law book returned with markings “packages not accepted.” I tried contacting buyer repeatedly and no answer. I waited about 10 days, thinking maybe they went on vacation or something and was going to wait until the end of the month. Well, before that happened, the buyer opened a case with their credit card company, which opens a PAYPAL case. I called paypal and responded to the case, but the buyer got her money back for the item price, case closed. They didn’t refund her the original shipping, but I was not able to deduct the return shipping. eBay and PayPal were very sympathetic and said they would have allowed me to refund and keep any shipping I was out, but since it was opened through her credit card company, there was nothing more to be done.
So I recommend refunding them the item price, call ebay to make sure you get your final value fees back, and notifying buyer you have refunded them and are relisting and if they want it, they’ll have to buy it again, with correct address.
IDAHOARDER: Great sales, thanks for sharing. Fantastic idea about the old ads! My boyfriend had a big box of 60’s and 70’s Playboys that I posted and not a single one sold, not worth much unless older. But in looking through them, I did have quite a few chuckles over the old ads… Hmmmm…. maybe I should get that stack back out of the basement and pull out any cool ads!

Thanks, Beth. I also had a pair of Clark’s shoes fail when they got to the buyer. They had been an old purchase of mine, I only wore them once…I have a super high arch and they just didn’t work for me, but they were fantastic little sandals. I sold them for $20.00 and the buyer sent a pic of the rubber that the upper is stitched to having torn away. I twisted and pulled on them before I listed them, had pretty good pics of that spot, and there was no clue that this would happen. They were sent in the Priority Mail “shoe box”, so I don’t think it was from transit. Luckily I got a nice buyer that sent me pics so I could easily see they were the same shoe and just refund her without having to send them back.

At least check at time of payment after the buyer has selected FEDEX SP shipping option!!!
Got to vote my shares for the eBay stock I bought eons ago … I love the little jolt of power I felt in spite of the fact that I own so little.

Great idea … I sometimes get peanuts and bubble wrap from the clinic where I get my allergy shots.
In our area, there is a neighborhood site (nextdoor.com) that you can post things for sale, need recommendations for a plumber for example, lost animals, found animals, suspicious activity, mail theft, etc. I put out a posting that I have a small at home business … anybody with free packing materials, I would be happy to take them off your hands instead of going to the dump … I now have 3 wonderful neighbors that I didn’t even know before, saving me their packing materials.

I’m pouting over a book I sold that got returned for “PACKAGES NOT ALLOWED.” I had to pay return shipping.
When I got it back, I tried to contact buyer, no response, so decided to wait til end of month, maybe they were on vacation. Before I could refund, I got a paypal case opened against me, that she opened through her credit card. In responding to the case, I tried to refund (less shipping and return shipping), but since the buyer had not confirmed something in their account, it would not go through. The case finally closed, and the price of the book was refunded to the buyer, but they did not deduct the extra $6 for return shipping (it was a heavy law book).
Anyway, just going to call ebay to get fees refunded and forget about it.

I’d love to know if anyone has modified their keywords and noticed anything. I have not edited them, they look like words made up of the descriptions for the items I have in each category. Thanks for starting this thread.
