I had something for August in case nobody else came up with one, just to make sure we still had a challenge. Quite happy for you to take it, VL. Put together the parameters for the new challenge, and you can post it on Saturday, August 1st.
My number for Monday Madness is 4. All 4 are multi-quantity, so I’ve listed a dozen items, but only in 4 listings, so that’s my number. I had hoped for more, but I fought with my camera lighting and had a couple of awkward, large items to pack up for orders, so I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Looking forward to all your numbers!
Utahbill, what does “off the grid” mean? Do you go hunting or something?
I’m baaaack! Created 14 listings, 3 of which were Christmas! Yay!
Okay, folks, I’m doing it again! Yup, it’s time for a quickie challenge.
MONDAY MADNESS LISTING CHALLENGE!
List like crazy on Monday. Get as many as you can squeezed into just that one day. Don’t care if you only list for an hour or for all 24, just list like a firecracker! Don’t care what you list either. Any category, any type, anywhere. List your Christmas items for a last ditch at the Christmas in July challenge. List late 4th of July items. List winter, list summer, list books or decor or trinkets or cars. Whatever you like. Listings count, not number listed, and only listings posted live on Monday. Drafts don’t count. Post your numbers on Tuesday.
Ready? Wait for one minute past midnight, then… GO!
PellMellResell – you genius! Of course I should be claiming the home office deduction. I completely didn’t think about that! Thank you!
07/25/2020 at 9:15 am in reply to: Re-assess your fixed costs (mortgage, insurance, etc). It is WORTH IT! #79941At the time, I applied to my bank for a mortgage at the same time (shopping around, yeah?) and was told no bank would ever be able to match that.
The secret (secrets?) to a very low rate:
Use a Credit Union. They can price lower than any bank, according to my bank.
Have a deposit of 20% or greater
Buy down points.
That’s how we did it. Also, I’m a major negotiator. I don’t stop asking. Ask if you can get a better rate. When they give you one, ask if that’s the best they can do. Wheedle. Cajole. Then when they give you their “absolute best rate” ask them if you can buy down points. Of course, you have to have the cash for this.
We saved aggressively for about five years to do this. No meals out, no holidays, no cable TV. Beans and rice and no new clothes. But it was worth it.

07/23/2020 at 7:10 pm in reply to: Re-assess your fixed costs (mortgage, insurance, etc). It is WORTH IT! #79911I’ve heard that USAA is amazing for insurance. How have you found them so far?
Now that I’m reading this outside of the lots-of-colors-and-fonts email message from eBay, I notice that sellers have had a major cut in time, whereas buyers don’t really have much change. I mean, 14 calendar days IS ten business days, near as dammit.
07/23/2020 at 6:27 pm in reply to: Re-assess your fixed costs (mortgage, insurance, etc). It is WORTH IT! #79907As I have an unbeatable interest rate on the mortgage (2% on a 15-year fixed) I can’t switch, but I do shop my insurance policy annually. Oddly enough, some years it’s cheaper for me to separate home and auto insurances, paying two different companies, and other years it’s cheaper to combine them into one. I have no idea why. Last year I split and had two policies, this year I’m combining and have saved $650.
On average I will change insurers every two years for a better rate with same as or better coverage.

You may have to DISMISS the notification on your Dashboard. I kept getting a notice to sign up each time I went to the Seller Hub until I clicked that Dismiss button.
07/23/2020 at 10:04 am in reply to: Ebay Glitch: Clothing Listings with Multiple Size Variations #79883It’s really annoying that every time eBay makes a change to their Item Specifics, they don’t import the old information into the new.
For example, when they changed how they classify Rise in clothes, or heel height in shoes, despite using their old drop down to select the option, they don’t automatically import their own old info into the changes, and you have to go back and redo all the specifics.
There are so many new platforms! I’ve not heard of this one before.
Chef’s uniforms used this type of button. At least, the vintage ones did. You know those white coats/shirts they wear? Those buttons were standard on them.
07/21/2020 at 7:41 pm in reply to: Any way to keep Fedex from increasing price after the fact? #79830I’ve asked for a weight confirmation at drop off, but they never give me a receipt for it. I’ve been known to eat the extra fees and ship USPS rather than use FedEx. I hate that you can’t trust them.
Spreadsheet updated, and the winner this week is Vintage Lacy! By two! It’s often such a neck and neck race this year!
Two weeks left to get your Christmas in July items listed. Ho ho hone them listing skillz and get ’em up, folks!
Timo, it was bought, paid for, and installed in 2020. While I have claimed for all the purchase costs involved in my 2020 paperwork, I have no idea how to claim for it going forward. As it isn’t part of the principle living building, I’m not sure how to write it off. I shall have to ask my CPA for help on that one.
So Cal Joe, I use Easy Auction Tracker and they do seem to pick up taxes, shipping, and refunds. I try to check my PayPal statements monthly, but hadn’t thought to cross check for refunds etc. against the EAT balances. I should probably do that.
