Today I got a positive feedback that made me scratch my head a bit. It was:
“I thought shipping was high, but seller listed shipping and I knew when i bid”
It was priority mail 2lb item going from Portland OR to Pittsburgh PA. Just normal calculated shipping, no handling fees, item was a best offer I accepted. I think people don’t understand the farther away I am from them, the more shipping costs and being in the corner of the country means higher shipping to the east coast. Anyway, I chuckled about it and moved on.
But it did make me think about what was some of the worst positive feedback people have received. Some of you must have some comments that seem like they should have given you a neutral or negative but you actually got a positive. Anyone willing to share their faves?

At least 3/4 of they general public doesn’t have any clue how expensive shipping is, trust me I worked at the Post Office as a temp before. It was always funny when customers would argue at the counter then say they are going to UPS. Little do they know UPS is even MORE expensive.
To get back on topic, I have only received one “contradictory feedback’ so far in which the buyer left me a negative saying the xbox 360 was defective. I had them send it back to me and gave them a 100% refund (including shipping). They wrote in the feedback – xbox 360 wi fi didn’t work but I did receive a 100% refund. To me that doesn’t warrant a negative.

Definitely not a negative feedback when you do everything in your power to make it right!

At the end of the day, all that matters is that the buyer left a positive feedback. Doesnt matter the words they wrote. All those reviews get pushed down after the next ten come on.

So true Jay. That was why after a moment of surprise, I just chuckled and moved on. If I’ve learned anything on this podcast/forum it is to have a professional tempered response. Always the best policy.

Yeah, we got the reverse. Buyer left negative feedback, but the text said. “Perfect”. That was it.
eBay said to send the buyer a feedback reversal form, we did, the buyer said that they would change, but they never did.
We have given up trying to stay perfect. We work to keep it perfect, and call eBay or buyers when we think it should be changed, but we haven’t been at 100% for a long time, usually 99.6% or better. I don’t lose sleep over it anymore. Just work at doing the right things, at the right time, for the right reason.

I have received a few that were a little passive aggressive, but not outright bad.
One buyer said something kind of hair-splitting about how my item could be considered “old” or “retro” but not “vintage”. The item was from the 60s or 70s, so…*shrug*. She then came back and bought more items from me, and left positive feedback on all of them. I guess she was just feeling cranky that day.

This is not my worst, rather my creepiest positive feedback received. I guess it’s not that creepy, or bad at all, but still my first reaction was “eww”.
“Very cute and sexy. GF loves it, thanks.”
I’ve also gotten 2 positives saying something wasn’t clean and something wasn’t NWOT. It REALLY bothered me at the time, because both weren’t true. But Jay is right, I don’t care at all now, and those feedbacks are buried under truly positive feedbacks now.
It’s been really few and far between having “grumpy buyers”, I’m really grateful for that, it’s pretty amazing in fact, that most buyers are pretty great.

This isn’t a feedback experience, but I had received a letter in the mail and the name looked familiar. I looked up my previous sales and sure enough it was from a previous buyer.
The letter was basically a link to sign up for direct TV or something similar.I can’t think how sending letters like that would be profitable, at the minimum each letter costs .50 cents. Sending thru email would make more sense and save cents.
