Awesome! That’s a really great idea Simplicio – thank you!
Good suggestion Sharyn, thank you!
03/01/2018 at 9:47 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 348: Acknowledge When Hard Work Pays Off #34124I’ve done a search here in the forum, and I don’t think this has been mentioned yet anywhere (and I know I’m a bit late to the game, but I’m a week behind on podcasts). But to the woman who mentioned she was having issues with people unable to buy multiple quantities of her items: the problem “could” be that it is Mary Kay.
Mary Kay regularly sues sellers on ebay for trademark infringement and unlawful selling of their products. It’s a bit like speeding: the odds of being caught unlikely, but it may not be worth the risk. Mary Kay is notorious about shutting down online sellers of their products (even consultants). It could be a coincidence, but I would not touch Mary Kay with a ten foot poll. Just be careful!

Copenhagen is really not worth spending a lot of time in. Check out the off-the-road places and thrift stores for a real treat. I am reasonably confident they see next to no Americans at that market in Brørup. I’ll gather up a list for you of great stops. You’ll be there from late August – mid-September?

You mentioned that you were going to Scandinavia next month. My husband is from Denmark, and I recently got back from a trip over there. You didn’t say specifically which country(ies) you were going to, but I found an absolutely amazing flea market in (very) rural Denmark that you guys would love. It’s in Brørup, and absolutely worth the drive. I found the most AMAZING things, everyone is super nice, and the prices are great. Just be aware that shipping from Scandinavia is super pricey, so plan to carry or pack as much as possible. Enjoy!
Coolest thing I’ve ever seen. Had long convo with seller about it.
Wow, that woman in #3 sure has a lot of nerve! I second what Jay said, it sounds like you’re handling them all very well so far. Keep us updated!
03/22/2017 at 1:11 pm in reply to: Save the planet. Save money. Save your items. Save space. Steel File Cabinets! #15068I will! It looks amazing, but I need to finish painting the office first. 🙂

Steel File Cabinets! #14211Just ordered a PALLET of file cabinets, a paper shredder and an office chair from Bulq.com for $257.00. I will now have 10 cabinets to fill up with inventory, which is much better than the random boxes and piles I have now. I know I could have found used file cabinets cheaper, but I do not have a truck or other method to get them back to my house, so this seemed like a reasonable solution. I plan to paint them and pretty them up a bit too. That’s my office expense budget for the year! Thanks for the suggestion Skycam! I absolutely HATE the site of “stuff” everywhere, so this should help calm me down and feel more organized.
I agree AtomicStar. I only have the Basic subscription, but I am wanting to work my way up to Anchor. It would be extremely helpful to have an additional stepping stone in there.
They seem to be trying to make up for it in other ways. Good news:
* The eBay-branded shipping supplies coupon for Anchor Store subscribers will increase from $75 to $150 per quarter.
* A $30 credit to create promoted listings campaigns. This is a good way to experiment with wholesale and/or retail/online arbitrage since campaigns only work when you have multiple quantities of an item.
*With new location-specific shipping rate tables coming this summer, you’ll be able to provide more accurate shipping charges to buyers.
*Also this summer, you’ll be able to customize the days you work and your cut-off time for same-day shipping with a new calendar tool.We just have to adapt and become better sellers, and hopefully it weeds out the crummy ones. It’s also a good reason to diversify your income streams (Poshmark, etsy, Amazon, etc.).
Super helpful! Thank you ThriftShift and ShortandStout!
You may want to add some keywords such as “lonely” or “solitude.” It makes me uneasy when I look at it, but maybe I’m odd! Who knows, maybe some emo hipster with a love for that southwest style will identify with it. 🙂
Haha so true! My husband is from Denmark, and I was sorely disappointed to learn that I wasn’t going to get these huge discounts on Danish-modern design items at their “Goodwill” because it doesn’t exist. He was completely baffled by my thrifting, but now he can’t get enough of it. 🙂
Thanks Jay! Yes, we are meeting with our accountant tomorrow and I plan to ask. Great idea about searching for flea markets as opposed to just thrift stores.
P.S. I’m currently using the free version of InkFrog for my eBay listings. It is a really nice tool, but it certainly doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of Wonderlister or SixBit.
