I would watch facebook before reddit any day though.
07/07/2019 at 9:00 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 418: Brick & Mortar Store Is Not For Us #64598I would not watch you if you go to reddit. I think most people will feel like me. Just my statement is all.
02/14/2019 at 3:29 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56985Jay, I have sent these offers before. I believe it is a minimum of five percent. Which I think is still low, I think it should be at least 15 or 20 percent, just for the fact to keep everyone from doing it. I always raise my prices about 20 to 30 percent depending if it’s a promoted listing. That way I can calculate a good sale later without losing too much.
02/14/2019 at 3:26 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56983Like eBay doesn’t spam us already. You can also set your preferences not to get emails from ebay, or certain emails.
I think it is a good thing.
Now for everyone holding out and just watch it, is not going to happen. No matter where you shop if something does not sell per metrics the price will come down. We always have people that wait for prices to come down. The population now those is composed of people wanting immediate gratification. The whole of eBay buyers only watching to get a better price is not going to happen.
We can always say something we don’t like, but change will happen. Now eBay sends an email to someone that viewed your listing a different lower price listing from someone else. They feel as though since they didn’t buy yours they have a right to try to capture a sale, and they are correct. I don’t think eBay would keep sending these emails if the sales tactic did not work.
Everyone has to stay ahead of the game. With all the new techniques it is getting very hard to compete sometimes.
Just saying…
02/14/2019 at 12:23 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56951That does work, BUT so people understand the watcher has to be watching for at least 24 hours. Don’t know really how long but if I try it when they first start watching it wont go through, so I always wait a couple of days. could just be me though. Thanks for the tip.

02/12/2019 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56862Yeah I don’t wash my undergarments because it brings me luck. Lucky me for over half a century. Sorry had to go there lol.
02/12/2019 at 1:06 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56861Yes Julie, death pile is just a negative term. Think about when you see a pile and someone says death pile, that is just another word for another excuse not to touch it. When you see a pile and say money pile, now that is a reason to list it lol.
02/12/2019 at 12:14 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56856Retro, I wish you the best of luck.
02/12/2019 at 12:11 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56852Think outside the box. I’m in Dallas fort Worth and I only do online auctions. I also do online estate sale auctions, and online storage auctions. I just can’t sit 6 hours through a complete auction anymore.
02/12/2019 at 12:08 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56851I started selling clothes and shoes out of necessity. I’m very disabled and can’t mess with electronics and stuff like that anymore. I know that clothes and shoes will slow down, but they never slow down as much as anything else because everyone needs clothes and shoes. Plus if times get rough are sells should actually go up in a recession and not down. Great job on the kids.
02/11/2019 at 7:07 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56791Just a note for everyone. The replies to the comments help this site in the search engines. The Likes though also help it. Just a thought. Especially for the videos on Youtube of the podcast, that is how the videos are rank on part of the algorithm.
02/11/2019 at 6:17 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56784You do have great photos. Like I always said, 45 percent photos 45 percent keywords and 10 percent luck lol.
02/11/2019 at 4:14 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56762@T-Satt, Looks to me your already there really. Your doing great.
Funny thing is I have had stores in the past with 400 items and sold 100 a week. I have had stores with 5,000 items and sold 100 a month lol. So it really does depend on what you are selling.I am disabled now, lung, heart, weight issues. I am trying to downsize. Not buy so much heavy stuff or things that take a while to list. I have a hard time doing this because of habit.
I have had probably 100 stores since 98 or 99, can’t remember and don’t have my original name, since I am hot tempered and have fired eBay on several occasions lol.
I am in the process of setting up a new store. i will be listing all things for a while till I dwindle my stock. I now have to though list about 600 items of shoes and clothes. I bought a bunch at auction. I actually just want to do shoes and preferably men’s since I can be in an out a thrift store in under 15 minutes on this item. I haven’t started listing even though I bought over a week ago. Never did like listing clothes or shoes but will do it in about an hour or at least start it.
I want to thank you for you posts. Some do not realize it but it is not only Jay and Ryanne that help people. It is also people such as yourself that share your journey on eBay. Thanks again and here is a little video I made to show my mess lol. I never really liked doing Youtube videos but got very aggravated two days ago looking for how to do something and then watching 4 videos and no help was in them. Take care and thanks.
02/11/2019 at 11:50 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 398: How To Buy or Not To Buy on eBay #56736I helped someone start an eBay store that had that question. How much do you spend on inventory, then they went on is it 20 percent, more or how do you decide?
I explained I do not have a set amount. If I told myself I would only spend 20 percent but I go to auction, then see something really hot and cheap but I have only 100 left for inventory and the lot goes for 400 do I not buy it?
I told them if you source all the time, and this is true. We all source all the time if we have been doing this for years. Our everyday lives are sourcing even if we do not realize it lol. If we source like we are supposed to and buy like we are supposed to (low), then we will be okay.
I did let them know my one flaw though. Having money piles all over the place. I don’t call them death piles. I said try to keep up your listings with what you buy.
