Idahoarder: Amen on that.
We watched a great exchange at the Junk Jaunt. We saw the future Jay (this guy had an AMAZING garage with an AMAZING collection). He knew we were resellers, so we talked shop for a while. Then some old guy comes in, asks how much he wanted for some shovels outside. Our guy said $20 since they were new and were $40 at the store. The grumpy guy says “that aint yard sale prices. Your crap is too high.”
THEN grumpy asks “How much for the ammo boxes?”. Our guy just says “I ain’t sayin’…why don’t you just leave and be grumpy somewhere else?”
We were dying with laughter…
Soooo…
I’m betting Jay and Ryanne are at $600k lifetime on eBay…
Am I close?
You can do the download of the program, import your listings, and then play around with the programs. You an have them both at the same time.
Your eBay account is really separate from the program, you are just linking your eBay account WITH the program. You don’t have to change anything with your eBay account to do the trials. Veronica was still doing all of her listings directly on eBay for months until we got her computer hooked up with mine (SixBit did that work for me…part of why I love them).
So you can do your normal work directly with eBay, and play with the programs on the side. If you want to create a listing on SixBit, and then send it (or schedule it to list in the future for free…another part I love), you can do that. SixBit sends the listing to eBay for you, and you are done. If you don’t stay with SixBit, that listing is still on eBay, and when it ends (assuming 30-day listing), it just ends on eBay, and you can relist on eBay.
Best way to think about it is is that these programs send and receive data to eBay (or Etsy, or whatever). They don’t replace eBay, they send and receive information to eBay. You just then get to keep all the data on listings, sales, photos, etc. in the Database that it is.
If you have any questions on SixBit, hit me up direct as well. tsatterf@yahoo.com
I have spent over a year with SixBit, still want to push it harder. If you have questions on how to do stuff, let me know. Veronica says I’m a good teacher… π
Very interesting, and a bit concerning, that the eBay market is primarily down Year Over Year.
We should all watch this and adjust accordingly. Maybe they are losing to other platforms, so we need to think about shifting with where the buyers are going. If so, how do we crosspost efficiently?
I have some thoughts for how we can adjust.
I will second Jay’s advice. Experimenting is one thing. Promoted listings, sales, etc.

Nebraska Junk Jaunt was a lot better this year, though the weather sucked. Cold, misty, and then rainy for 3 days. But we left with a full truck of inventory…
Thanks almasty. At least ONE segment of the eBay market is showing up YOY.
Amatino: Here is what I can tell you on the SixBit side:
#1. SixBit is a Desktop solution as well. You will have your data stored on your computer, not in the cloud. Data is backed up once a week, and I routinely back up my hard drive (about monthly).
#2. SixBit is paid via PayPal, either with your PayPal account or Credit Card through PayPal.
#3. SixBit has an automatic backup as well.
#4. Regarding tracking, you get the complete order data that you have saved in your database forever. So if after 90 days, someone says they didn’t receive the item, you have the tracking number that you can refer to.
Some other issues I see: Yes, you have a data input and export from SixBit. Data is imported from your current listings, and I routinely export info into Excel.
I still keep a separate accounting program, as does Mike for WL. Thee is a LOT of good financial data in SixBit, especially if you are diligent on keeping it accurate, but I HAVE to be able to reconcile to our cash and credit card accounts. I use Quicken, works good. I know Mike uses QuickBoooks, and for me, that is overkill at this point.
My suggestion: You can get a free month with each. Download, import, give them a test drive. Plus, you can view the YouTube videos and tutorials for SixBit to get a feel for what it is like.
I tried them both, and I liked the ability to set up my screens to work EXACTLY as I wanted them in SixBit. This made me faster in listing, as the flow of the screen was how I wanted it to be, and I could hide fields I don’t use.
And if you go with SixBit, let me know…I have an affiliate link that would through a few bucks my way… π
Thanks Simon:
Not good that now we see other categories that are down YOY…
I wonder if we can access this data for all categories somehow.
I would love for others to report what they see on the Seller Hub, especially the YOY numbers for the market…
action.turtle: These were many of the reasons that we stayed out for now.
We were also told that Opt Out was not an option. Once you are in Managed Payments, you are in.
You can use a credit card for your eBay Fees (we do), but no idea on the shipping side. I’m a bit miffed that ShipRush won’t let us use our credit card for shipments (I have been around that mountain a TON in the last month), but still like it’s process for shipping and creating SCAN sheets.
For us, it was a very solid weekend. Looking at our Seller Hub, we were at $586 on Sat and $580 on Sun. It was across the board, with clothes, shoes, and hard goods.
One thing I do notice that has me concerned. On our Seller Hub, there is a graph that shows how your store sales in $ compares to the past month and the past year. We are up in Sales 22% vs Last Month and up 19% vs Last Year.
The concerning part is that it also compares you to the “market” in those periods. For us, it chooses Casual Shirts and Jeans, as those are the categories where we had the most listings this month. The “market” is DOWN 4% vs Last Month and DOWN 5.8% vs last year.
I talked with Griff on this, and it includes new and used items sold on eBay. So the clothing market on eBay is shrinking. More sellers (he stated, like we know, that there is oversaturation) but LESS sales. We have seen a downward trend in pricing in many areas as well.
I think the Amazon impact with new clothing, and Poshmark on used clothing, is impacting sales on eBay in these categories. Something to watch for.
I would be interested in hearing what categories others on Scavenger Life show on their Seller Hub, and what the “market” graph is showing for sales Year Over Year.
I’ll ditto what Simon said…I can’t top that!
π
Congrats on $100k in sales Mark!
That makes sense.
Veronica and I have done some travel to other areas to potentially move to, and EVERY time, the first thing I want to look at is “what can we source, what can we net, and how plentiful”. We also look at the long drives with the same thought: Can we drive 2-4 hours, source all day, and come back? Overnight?
All great thoughts…
PS – This lead me to look at how to have the product to come to US, rather than the other way around…
We have had this as well a few times. Never had an issue. One person had a similar size, and he would come back repeatedly over 2 months for extra items.
One person purchased 12 items in 15 minutes. All went to Russia. Best time ever…
