Julie: I would tell you to try SixBit or WonderLister. I use SixBit, Mike uses WonderLister, and for just doing backups, either would work. I like to use SixBit to manage a lot of the backend work, but if you just want something for backups, I think WonderLister is cheaper (though I don’t think their customer service is as good, and they seem to be having some issues lately).
No. Would be 2.5 days for a $500 net profit on the delivery. Not worth the time and effort…
Our entanglement with China on the economic front is another advancement of MAD.
In the 70s and 80s, we had nuclear proliferation against the USSR to achieve MAD – Mutually Assured Destruction. No one would fire first, as they knew that the other would destroy them. Killing your enemy kills yourself.
With China, we are now in MAED – Mutually Assured Economic Destruction. We are so entangled by buying their goods and they buy our debt (a small percentage at least), that there are many levers and switches that we can pull to hurt each other, but no one wants to go all the way as destruction of one would also be destruction of the other.
I see this as a longer game, and one that we need to improve our position on (reducing their cheap rate of shipping to the US, lessening our national debt, and eliminating their stealing of Intellectual Property), but I doubt it will ever go nuclear.
That said, if other factors continue to increase (their issues at home with how they are propping up their economy, ours with our addiction to cheap goods and a growing debt), then it could get nasty in a few years…
Inglewood: “Very helpful for my situation. This would be a good chapter for a scavenger textbook – “How Much Space Do I Need For Storage”…”
Short answer is you never feel like you have enough, yet always seem to make do with what you have… 🙂
We are pretty similar in the commission sales we have done in the past. This was the first one we had done in years, and the opportunity was just too cool to pass up. But this thing was so huge that our normal rules would not apply!
Thanks Mark!
Jay: I always seem to feel that scavenging has levels like all other areas of life. I always see this as mountains that we climb. We start at the bottom, and then we work and learn and then we move up a level to better items. And we work and we learn and move up again. Then we are doing antiques, then furniture, then cars.
I think you will be leveling up soon…
Lavenderclothesline: Very solid sales and Inventory numbers!
-How long have you been selling on eBay?
-Always just clothes?
-Do you crosspost to any other platforms?Doubly: No worries at all. When you know, you know. I had the luck to have my wife help me confirm when I knew (and she pushed me out of the nest a bit too). For me, I can deal with a great deal of pain and stress. Now, this can be a good thing in many situations. However, it can also mean that I stay too long in a bad situation rather than change it (cause I can just deal with the crap). Veronica helps me see the times when it is time to make the change rather than just deal with the pain.
Now that I contract back to my old place, it is nice that the roles are reversed. The “normal” job is the side hustle, cause eBay is the main gig. Since you are almost there, maybe try to keep that mindset when your job is getting to you. Tell yourself “Hey, this is all just a side gig anyway. No need to get worked up.”
Looked at from that perspective, you have one HELL of a great side gig!
Yeah Doubly, I was having flashbacks. When I was paid a LOT more money, this was a big part of my job, bird-dogging a process with multiple people, vendors, customers, etc. until it was done. It shouldn’t be that tough if people just do the job they are supposed to, or even think through what the next action should be…
Thanks ebaymom!
Good tip. I’m going to just sit for now and see how things go without doing TOO much sharing, sending offers, etc. Maybe when we have a lister I can spend that time to speed up the STR… 🙂
PS – Nice throwback to Mike on the coffee reference!
Thanks. I’ve tried twice, sending an offer with a 15% discount, no sales. Oh well, at least I’m not missing something.
Yep! I think this will net out in the positive, but it has been a loooooooong journey….
Thanks antarestar! Much appreciated.
Now…another question. I have received two messages where someone has added 1 item to their Bundle. Do I just make them an offer on the 1 item in their Bundle? That is what I have been doing, but I’m wondering if I’m missing something. I would think that a Bundle would be for more than one item…
