It has picked up a bit this week. I think the updated listings (using the NEW predefined Item Specifics from eBay) and repricing to the current market is helping. Lower value than what I would like, but I can’t fight the market…
Doesn’t ring a bell, but we moved out in 1989. I spent most of my time in Quiet Valley (way out of town), and then a few years off of Church Road. Ask where they were at…
Almasty: probably all are true. I have seen the shirt market drop in price for the brands I can find, so I’m probably going to do some price dropping and getting out of a lot of this market.
Probably! Names?
My old (semi) hometown! I grew up in NM, mostly in Edgewood on the other side of the Sandias.
WisePray: You and Retro are both right.
We charge, collect, and remit sales tax for sales in Colorado since we are located in Colorado (so we have nexus per the old law).
With the new laws being passed in some states, eBay (and Etsy) are charging, collecting, and remitting sales tax on sales to buyers in those states. Washington has had this with Etsy for some time, and EBay just started this year.
I double checked our sales to Washington this year (had 3 already), and eBay has the message to us that they collected and will remit the sales tax. I double checked our PayPal transactions for those sales, and we didn’t receive the sales tax amount (like we do in Colorado), so eBay has to remit that. Perfect, as they are doing all the work for us.
Going to listen while doing a packing party for the warehouse…

Started our quarterly review of our listings (we turn the auto relisting off in SixBit, and then look at the listing and resubmit it), and it has been beneficial. Lots of price changing, and most importantly, many of the Ebay Item Specifics changed, and our data didn’t change with it. Not using eBay’s Predefined Labels in Item Specifics (the labels in the drop downs) will limit you in search. We have seen a TON of our clothing and shoes that we have had to change. Hoping that gets sales improving in clothing especially. Also noting that our Sell Thru Rate in Clothing has dropped Year Over Year about 7%. Interesting that this correlates to the 7.5% drop that eBay is showing in the Shirts and Jeans category. So eBay says that their overall market in Shirts and Jeans is down 7.5% YOY. Wondering if that is drop in interest by buyers, drop in sales value (market is oversaturated), or losing market share to Poshmark. Probably a mix of those items.
Going to back off crossposting a lot to Mercari right now. Trying to stay with FOCUS (Follow One Course Until Successful) and work on just getting our Poshmark numbers up. I almost have us at Posh Ambassador status (I just need to buy something and leave a review) which should help. Also started crossposting older items and lower value items as well to see if we can get more STR on that platform. So far, so good.
Completely understand Mike…

Very cool Mike! Congrats!

01/09/2019 at 5:02 pm in reply to: Ebay not counting Dec 5th as Postal Holiday in Late Tracking Uploaded Metric #54839I can confirm the same thing on our account. We didn’t call either.
The metric only shows 2 items that were late, and checking the full report, the other items from Dec 5 are on the report, but grayed out and not included.
01/08/2019 at 6:31 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 393: Happy New Year and Returns Happen #54808100% agree Jay. The only decent debt to take on personally is a mortgage for your home. I could somewhat stretch and say that CERTAIN student loan debt is acceptable (but I have to see the amount taken on and the jobs being obtained from that investment). All other personal debt (credit card, auto loans, etc.) should be avoided like the plague.
Good debt is that serviced by income producing assets. So any mortgage on your properties is paid back by the income they generate. If you can handle debt properly, then this is a great tool. If you can’t handle money and debt properly, then even these should be cash flowed and not financed.
The older I get, the better that I understand that finances, while they should be about MATH, are really about PERSONALITY. While the math would say to invest the payment differential between a 15 year and 30 year mortgage and you come out ahead, personalities just don’t do that.
If your personality is about security (no debt), then do that. If your personality is about managing risk, then do that. If your personality doesn’t have discipline…then avoid debt altogether.
01/07/2019 at 10:53 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 393: Happy New Year and Returns Happen #54746All theoretical good points.
But first…VERY few people pay more than the normal monthly payment. This is the reason savings, 401(k), IRA, etc should be automatic. By having the 15 year requirement, you take willpower out of the equation.
Second, on a 30 year mortgage, you are still paying 2/3 interest and 1/3 principle to start. A 15 Year is the reverse.
And…you get a lower interest rate on a 15.

I get weary of all the Highlight Reels that people post these days, especially on social media. Bad things happen too! Don’t worry, it will turn around!
And all the power in the world to you for being such a caregiver. That is such a tough job.

No not that bad, but just mad I didn’t stick to my guns and take the 15 year…
