Nice!
09/18/2017 at 11:25 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 327: Dealing With Stress Traveling, In Life and On eBay #22931Thanks Mike, that was on my mind. I’m glad I decided when we signed up to pay to have our listings have the logo removed, so we started clean from the start. Little did I know that this would have this kind of benefit!.
That is great Linda! I heard about these on the radio this week!
09/11/2017 at 4:54 pm in reply to: More Common Mens L/S Button Shirts That Do Well on EBAY (VIDEO) #22740God love ya. I have had crickets with Izod or Tommy Hilfiger. Tommy Bahama I stay away from as well, except for Linen or Silk. Otherwise, they just don’t move well.

Harley Davidson has to have the right style that fits that brand, so solid garage shirts, black, unique, etc. Ben Sherman I agree, but has to have some “Snap” as I call it: Unique, slim fit, spread collar, etc. Robert Graham plain would be in the $20-$50, and real snap is $50+. Thomas Pink is a solid choice, and the better the snap, the closer to $50.
09/11/2017 at 11:16 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 326: What Is A Scavenger Vacation? #22719No, I would not cut eBay out if they saw the item on eBay (that is a quick way to a suspension). If they purchase via eBay, eBay will get their fees. PayPal does not get any fees unless the buyer pays via PayPal.
I do all local pickup as COD. If the buyer pays via PayPal, and there is no tracking and proof of delivery, PayPal will refund the buyer if they file a claim that the item did not arrive. I have thought of doing signed receipts and even pictures of the buyer’s Driver’s License as proof, but it seems PayPal will not accept anything except Third Party Tracking.
Jay/Ryanne: When you have sold something that the buyer is having picked up by a third party shipper, does the third party shipper provide anything that could be used as tracking to satisfy a PayPal inquiry for proof of delivery?
Totally agree with how you do vacation. We always go places for at least two weeks, and when we do, we get a house and hit the grocery store first thing. We love to cook, we love seeing the different foods in different areas, and making our vacation feel like we live somewhere else. We like to have the washer/dryer as well, so we can pack with just one suitcase.
Week of 9/3-9/9
Total Items in Store: 1,703
Number of Items Listed: 48
Number of Items Sold: 63
Weekly STR: 16%
Total Product Sales: $1,707.42
Cost of Items Sold: $397.33
Gross Profit for Week: $1,113.46
Highest Item Sold: $185 β In Classical Mood 60 Volume CD Boxed Music Set.
Competition: Highest Priced Sale: Veronica wins the week and Veronica leads for the year 21-14.We took some time on Labor Day to work on some non-eBay items, primarily garden related, and I was working on my contract accounting gig for a few days, so it really cut into our listing time. We still got some good sourcing in this weekend. Building up a good backlog for Q4.
For those that are going to the Nebraska Junk Jaunt, if you want a great burger in Grand Island, hit up the Sin City Grill. Excellent!
A couple of interesting issues this week. As a heads up to all eBayers, I noticed an issue w/ eBay tracking this week. We had a Late Shipment defect that showed up on our account, and when I downloaded the full report to see what it was, we saw the flaw. The buyer paid for the item on 8/28 at 11:05pm, and we have same day shipping with a 2pm cutoff. The eBay handling calculation said I should have shipped the item on 8/28 at 10:59….6 minutes before they paid. We ship fast…but not that fast!!! I contacted eBay and they should be handling it, and I sent it on to Griff as well, since an eBay Radio caller had a similar issue. Folks may want to check their Late Handling reports to see if they have a similar issue.
The other issue was that I was contacted through our Store Facebook Page by a buyer who wanted on of my Broncos Jerseys via local pickup the next morning since he was on his way to the game. I said that was fine, and he paid for the item via PayPal. I contacted him later and said that for local pickup, I would need cash (since with local pickup, there is no tracking, and a scammer could file with PayPal for non-delivery and get his cash back). He said no problem, and I gave him a refund through PayPal. A few days later, eBay gave us a ding for a Canceled Sale for Out of Stock. I called to ask what it was, and they said that since I refunded the buyer on PayPal, they assumed the sale was cancelled for out of stock. I was pretty ticked, but was able to get it removed after having the buyer send a message to me (via eBay Messaging) that he wanted local pickup. So just a warning if you have a similar situation, donβt have the buyer pay via PayPal at all, and just do local pickup for cash.

09/05/2017 at 3:33 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 325: New Rental Done, Now Hopping On A Plane! #22568Amen to that. We make Zucchini Noodles out of them…no need for the pasta!
09/04/2017 at 5:49 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 325: New Rental Done, Now Hopping On A Plane! #22532“The $400 Fender amp I shipped to the GSP center in Kentucky bound for Australia was intercepted and rejected for shipment, the buyer was refunded and I kept the money, wonder what happens to the amp?”
That is wild. I would love to hear the end of that story if you get it!
09/04/2017 at 5:42 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 325: New Rental Done, Now Hopping On A Plane! #22530That is so funny!! We did the same thing, and our regular mail carrier LOVED it!! πππ
09/04/2017 at 5:37 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 325: New Rental Done, Now Hopping On A Plane! #22528Yeah, we love it and try to go every year. We both grew ups in small towns, so we enjoy it. We just have to avoid the places that are basically resellers themselves that want eBay prices. We saw a decent amount of those…
09/04/2017 at 1:07 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 325: New Rental Done, Now Hopping On A Plane! #22523Yep! That time of year! We have 8 loaves of zucchini bread in the freezer, and 6 quarts of zucchini soup canned…and still more to go! Veronica has been canning green beans as well. The pressure cooker is getting a workout these days! π

09/04/2017 at 7:59 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 325: New Rental Done, Now Hopping On A Plane! #22517Loved the podcast! The concept of moving to a small town, lower the cost of living and driving to scavenge is something that Veronica and I are planning to do. We have the general area picked out, and when we have the timing right with our boys and college, we will be there!

Gross Profit $4,077.17 (Forecast: $2,545)We ended August very strong, with some of our best daily sales of the year, and so far, it is continuing into September. My forecast for September at a 20% STR would put us at 349 items sold, and using an Average Selling Price of $21.75 would put Product Sales at $7,590. Hoping that we beat it! We also crossed the 1,700 level for the first time. 1,800 is next…
We will be going to the Nebraska Junk Jaunt later this month (4-Day Statewide Garage Sale) and visiting our son at York College, so our last big Garage Sale spend for the year. Let us know if any of you other Trash Elves will be there!
