Honestly, I have no idea what happens if the buyer disagrees. The first time I used it was last week and I have not heard anything yet. I’m guessing the buyer has a certain period of time to dispute, because the return is still showing as active and has not yet been closed by eBay.
For what it’s worth, I did not opt into any special program like Hassle Free Returns. Here are the screens I get on INAD returns.
I think you guys mis-stated something. There IS a way to refund less than the full cost if you accept an INAD return and don’t agree with it. There is an option to refund less. I did this last week. A buyer said a pair of shoes was wide, not medium, and made an INAD request. I accepted it, but when I reviewed the shoes, I verified that they were not marked “wide.” I had to type an explanation, but I was able to withhold the original shipping.
The other cool thing is after I processed the return, I got to a screen where eBay actually asked for feedback on the buyer. Apparently, seller notes disputing INAD returns are being attached to the buyers’ accounts so that eBay can identify scammers. I think the second page even said that the buyer will not see your comments. Bottom line is that it’s been a week and I’ve heard nothing. I think at this point the ball would be in the buyers court to dispute my refund, and then I’m not sure what would happen….
Yes, the phone waits have been ridiculous due to problems with the new mobile app…
Looks like most of the bugs are fixed. One thing I want to mention that took me a while to figure out: if you load photos from your photo library, the photos will populate IN THE ORDER YOU CLICK ON THEM. This is new. Previously, they always populated in the order they were in your library. Also, photos seem to take longer to load now.
Biggest problem I still have: there is no field for “Condition” notes. I can still use that field on the desktop, but not on they phone. Are they trying to get us to put condition notes in the Description?
I got this one. Google image search on the logo reveals that it is for Lehigh University, whose nickname used to be the Engineers.

Guys, please do not load this update. (Unfortunately, my phone is set up to automatically update apps, so I’m stuck with it.)
I’m not sure I like the intent of the update, but leaving that aside, MAJOR bugs to the point that I’m stuck now and can’t even list. Listing won’t process from the phone (error message). Photos won’t save so I can’t create a final draft and list from the desktop. I’m literally at a standstill. Also, don’t try calling eBay anytime soon–phone waits are over 2 hours right now. They have no help to offer other than to use the desktop version from your phone.
Not sure everyone is having the same issues I am, but I know many are judging from the eBay forums. I’m IOS version 11.4 BTW.
Not sure if this is new, but when I called eBay this morning they were able to send me a report that showed me the listings with only one photo–58 for me, ugh. They did also credit me for one month store fees.

My only advice to you, for what it’s worth, is to not turn away every athletic shoe that is “beat up.” Most brands, yes, take the low-mileage shoes (Adidas, Saucony, most Asics and most Nike). But some are great sellers even if fairly worn–Hoka, Brooks and Nike Shox are the ones I will buy in ALMOST any condition, within reason.

I look for/sell other stuff too, but just don’t seem to find the same easy opportunities. And you’re right about them selling well. It seems like my % of inventory sold is extremely high compared to others who post here (~8% of my inventory sells every week). Or, maybe I’m pricing too low? I don’t feel like I am, but perhaps. (Could also be bc I’m a fairly new seller and my inventory is relatively fresh–I’d guess that sales conversion % goes down every year you’re in business.)
05/29/2018 at 12:05 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 362: Scavengers Are Always Prepared To Clean Out A Basement #41196Regular podcast listener, first time poster. I got laid off from my job about a year and a half ago and started selling. I’m very heavy into shoes/boots, which are about 65% of my inventory. Majority of the shoes are athletic running-type (Nike, Brooks, Asics, Hoka), basketball (Jordans), outdoor/hiking-type (Keen, Merrell, Chaco) or boat shoes (Sperry, Timberland).
Why I love shoes: I can get in and out of a thrift store very quickly and feel like I completely scoured the shoes. I’ll look at clothes occasionally when I have some time to waste, but for me it would take take me 10x longer to find the same value of inventory in clothes that I find in shoes. There are 2 large thrift stores with frequent inventory turnover that I hit every day (Mon-Sat), and usually buy an average of 15-20 pair per day. This takes me about 1 to 1.5 hours per day of shopping time.
