the size is hand written which would indicate that these are handmade or “benchmade” shoes. very expensive! an amazing find. where did you get them?
12/25/2016 at 7:41 am in reply to: How do I change handling time while a buyer hasn't paid up? #8766i don’t think you can change the handling time on the invoice. it’s just automatically in there when they buy from the listing.
i do like to give people food and soap, that is true. we send people honey from our hive throughout the year too. that’s fun.
nice to meet you! glad you’re here on the forums.
happy holidays

that’s how it works on ebay.
have you searched solds on ebay?
12/24/2016 at 7:33 pm in reply to: What are some of the coolest places you have sold to? And What was it? #8750i’ve never included a fan letter, but the other day i sold something to someone in Corning, NY. my best friend growing up moved from my town to Corning (her dad was a Corning engineer and they had a division in our little Boston suburb). As a teenager, i visited her every chance i got, almost every vacation, so spent a lot of time there. i sent a note that i loved Corning and their little downtown and their huge Wemans grocery store. i guess that was a little fan letter too.
that’s cool! i would love to see a link if you’re willing to share.
i’m setting up a Shopify store today. it’s $30 a month and you can import your ebay store and do Buyable pins on Pinterest which sounds interesting to me. i also think it integrates into Google shopping as well. i thought i might as well give it a try. though it’s another 3rd party system, i’m interested to see if people find our stuff other ways. i’ll certainly be updating people on it on the podcast and here.
yep, absolutely. i told everyone in my family- NO PRESENTS. don’t give us presents. takes the pressure off everyone. i did get my mom some little fancy soaps (found at a higher end thrift in NYC, of course!), because i know she’ll give us stuff no matter what. but i’d rather just visit with people and make food and be merry.
12/24/2016 at 3:49 pm in reply to: I can\'t believe I shipped the whole thing! Or, how to ship 5700 sheets of music! #8739i had the same question, how much money did you make after all that work??
12/24/2016 at 3:46 pm in reply to: How do I change handling time while a buyer hasn't paid up? #8738the only issue is that it won’t be shipped within your original handling time. i’ve had this issue before as well. someone didn’t pay before we left for a trip and the handling time on that item was 1 day when they bought it, so it’s 1 day when they paid too! i send a message a few days before they leave and say ‘we’re going out of town, i can ship before we leave, if not it will be after X date” they usually pay right away. but if not, i say just leave it at home if you don’t mind 1 ding on your shipping.
i thought no buyers could get negatives anyway.
all this being said…
you could call ebay and plead ignorance that you didn’t know how local pickup worked. which sounds like it’s true, so no fib there. just see if they can lift the suspension.what ebay wants to happen—
you list a local pickup item. person purchases it through Buy Now (or auction). person never has to pay right away through Local Pickup listings, so it remains unpaid. transaction has been started through ebay (they get their final value fees). then you arrange pick up w/ your address and phone number. buyer picks up, and has either paid you through paypal or pays in cash. you mark as “shipped” and “paid”.what you did–
buyer wants your local pick up item. you agree and give your address. you end listing and have essentially sold it offline using ebay like craigslist. they dont like it, you used ebay to advertise and sell an item and you didn’t pay them for that. -
