My gosh, this sounds like a lot of work to drop ship! It was an $8 item. That is not a good business model at all. He’s out the $2 gift and his ebay fees.
I ordered a pile of these once upon a time. When I ordered them I thought they were regular priority. Doh! Honestly it is pretty crappy of USPS to make these flat rate only.
Having said that, I have resized these boxes several times to ship long items and shipped regular priority. After resizing the flat rate symbols are pretty much gone.
Wow, some people just hate the world…
Whenever I get subjective questions I always promptly reply to person with a canned response telling them their question is highly subjective and that I will accept a return if it doesn’t work out in relation to their question. (my actual verbage is more detailed depending on the question). These people NEVER end up buying – they are tire kickers.
01/25/2017 at 11:40 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 294: Finding the Valuable Caches and Going All In #11126I love cache stories. Back when I first got serious about selling on ebay, I bought this huge tub of these math manipulative blocks from goodwill for like $7. We sorted them all by color and I sold them in sets of 10 blocks of each color – I think 8 colors- for $8 a set. I ended up making close to $200 and it only took a month or two to sell them all.
Another cache I’ve happened upon was at the habitat for humanity restore. I got three caches that day – a big box of price guns, a bunch of new in box paper towel dispensers, and a bunch of track lighting lights. I did VERY well on the price guns – $30 to $40 a pop and I’ve sold all but one. I’ve done decent on the paper towel holders – still have 4-5 left. I regret the lights – I haven’t sold a single darn one. I think I’m gonna bottom out the price just to move them. I only paid $1 per light, so hopefully I can still make a few bucks.

It is possible for a sellers item to have the incorrect stock. It is also possible they sold the item through another channel and their inventory count got off. It has happened to multiple people here in this group. The seller took care of it, refunded you, and took the expense of sending you something for your trouble.
If they are using this to get around getting a defect, so be it. They are taking care of their customer.01/24/2017 at 10:41 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 294: Finding the Valuable Caches and Going All In #11042Christine you should try out a fitbit along with its app. You can keep a food journal in the app in which pretty much every food in the world already has its nurtritional info stored in the cloud. You can scan the upc of a packaged food and log it directly. You can create custom meals by searching out the ingredients. It’s awesome. Getting real-time feedback on progress is very motivating. I find it to be almost like playing a game to log my food.

It is quite popular around here. Even Goodwill does it. Personally I avoid it like the plague. So much of the product is junk. It has all but ruined facebook yardsale groups.

I’ve lost 20 lbs so far over the last few weeks. No dieting, eating clean, no junk food and moving alot. My basal metabolic rate says I should eat a minimum 2500 calories…it is INCREDIBLY difficult to get 2500 calories while eating clean. I stretch a lot, do yoga, and walk often. I have a fitbit charge HR. that device along with the app really helps motivate and keep things in perspective. My resting heart rate has dropped 10 points since I made my change for a healthier life. I’m very much looking forward to seeing the other side of 300 again, but I’m patient and disciplined enough to not take shortcuts to get there this time.
Have a great week everyone!
48 hours is a bit too short for me. I’ve had numerous customers who buy on Friday and then don’t pay until Monday. In the mobile app you can send a payment reminder after two days. That gets some folks to pay. I have automatic unpaid item cases turned on and I love it. I used to get so upset when I manually created unpaid item cases. Now it is just a part of doing business and is all automated.
01/23/2017 at 9:29 am in reply to: Help! Smart post claim process/procedure for missing item? #10940Yes I learned from experience. As with most who hate smart post, I read the fine print after I had an issue.
I sell plenty of shoes without giving the inside dimensions.
When I do get special requests such as this, about 10% of the time I make a sale. The rest either lowball or just never contact me again. That is not an effective use of my time. Some people just like to kick tires.01/20/2017 at 9:01 am in reply to: Help! Smart post claim process/procedure for missing item? #10765Yes, but now you understand the issue with smart post. USPS has ZERO liability, and as long as FedEx fails to document things properly they have plausible deniability to deny any claim. Convenient huh?
Honestly smart post should result in some form of class action lawsuit.
01/19/2017 at 3:33 pm in reply to: Help! Smart post claim process/procedure for missing item? #10716Did you drop your package at a USPS post office or with a Fed Ex shipping facility?
I know people on here have said their local post offices will take smart post but I’ve never felt it was entirely kosher. If this is your case, now we know why.
