Hi Mike. Yes, Etsy is collecting state taxes for WA and PA. They’ve also decided to raise the 3.5% seller fee to 5% which will (as of the 16th) include shipping.
Great podcast, very informative thread y’all have going on here. Thanks!
Hi All! (and “hi” back twin Katie!) Although I have photos ready to go for about 30 items, I’ve only had the time to list 5 on Etsy (from my death pile).
I’m hoping to list and cross list midweek. This job, that I had once loved, is exhausting me mentally. I put in notice of the days and max hours I’d work last night. It’ll be a wait and see game. In the past, they’ve refused to give me set hours. I really hate the idea of quiting but it’s getting to that point.
Love the Halo and fully agree!
Wishing you all easy to ship, big money sales and death pile fires under the butt.
Have a great week! 🙂
With the discount, I find priority mail to only be a few cents more. I usually email the buyer that I’ve upgraded their shipping to pm.
OK guys, I’m a total loser this week. I’ve listed nothing. Although, on a positive note, I did get a bunch of photos taken and hope to go to town on listing this week. Thankfully, I have a few free days. I had 2 house sitting jobs and I was scheduled to work extra hours at the “part-time” job. I’m so done with that. I didn’t sign up for that. 37 hours is no where close to 20. I’m looking for another Part-Time job this week. They’re loading me up with hours to “punish” my coworkers who call in and show up late. Sorry for the rant.
So sorry that happened. Pyrex is hard to break. Maybe it was just packed too tight? Sometimes the pressure of other heavy boxes thrown on top may cause breakage if packed to tight. I posted below how I ship it. I’ve also tossed a box up and let it dropped from 8-10 feet before shipping, just to make sure.
My local convenience store sells a lot of those freel milkshakes. They come in recycled paper holders. The material reminds me of the multiple to go drink holders you get at dunkin, except sturdierand longer. They save them for me. They’re light weight, bendable, easy to cut and work great for lining shipping boxes. I wrap breakables with big bubble wrap, surrounded by peanuts and a box lined with those drink holders. That’s how I like to ship Pyrex and Fire King.
It looks like a television stations “6” logo design? Just a guess.
Hi Chris! Love Boston, Brimfield and the Redsox! Going on over to check out your stores. 🙂
It typically takes me 20-25 hours to make $500, this includes the whopping $6.25 an hour they’re required to pay me. I’m a waitress. It’s a great part-time gig, if you like people and can smile while thinking wtf. The stories I could tell…
Just last night I had a guy walk out (with my managers business card) because he couldn’t order his burger medium rare. His ? to me “why the f**k can’t I, that guy just ordered his steak MEDIUM! blah, blah, blah” I smiled and apologized, gave him the requested number. Funny part…he had to come back, 20 minutes later, when he realized he left his credit card on the table. I just smiled. E Coli dude… I don’t make the rules.
Food allergies are real. But sometimes people fake them and it’s quite obvious. 😉
Hi All, I’m in this thread for motivation. I need it. I’ve been buying junk and selling it online for quite a while. I’ve only sold a handful of items on ebay because for some reason it scared me. I guess I bought into all the horror stories. I also followed ebays crappie advice of listing items with low starting bids, items sold for super cheap which left a bad taste in my mouth, years ago. That’s on me. I didn’t do my research. The only other venue I’m using now is etsy but that may change in time.
I’m really here for inspiration and motivation. You all amaze me! I enjoy these forums because there’s no drama or bs. I have hoards of stuff that needs to be listed. H.O.A.R.D.S. Mostly stashed in the office, basement, barn and an outbuilding. Going through some of these boxes, bags and bins is like Christmas. So, I really shouldn’t buy more but if I do, it has to be listed within a week. It also has to make a large profit.
So, it doesn’t matter to me either way. My numbers this week will suck. I’m filling in for someone on vacation through next week. And sitting two houses. Life in punks world, atm.
Wishing you all many new listings and Big, easy to ship, sales to all!
Sheesh….edited because my brain can’t add today.

Thanks, Amatino!
I just starting listing again after a very long break. My total dp listings would be 51 (24-ebay / 27-etsy), Including those 18. I started listing the beginning of Jan.
Looks like I have a ways to go… 😉
Listened but haven’t had a chance to read the thread yet. The $500 question reminds me that I need to be applying to a better restaurant with booze. Summers just around the corner and that’ll be easy $ making time around here.

Costs of Items Purchased this Week – $0So no new feedback on either venue yet but No News Is Good News. 😉
Off to work, hoping I’ll have time to read the thread later. Thanks for all the valuable info!
So, this week wasn’t great but I’m trying. I seemed to list more on Etsy, just because it seems easier for me atm. I also had a few items that were alike which made it quicker with tags.
In the week of the 5th thru the 11th I’ve sold 3 on Ebay and 2 on Etsy.
I’ve added 4 new listings to ebay which minus sales brings it up to 20 listings.
On Etsy I’ve added 14, minus sales brings it currently up to 28 listings.
So 18 listings created. Taking more photos today, then off check on a summer house and after that wait tables. The side work sucks but I love serving food.
I purchased nothing. These are all dp items. If I buy, I have to list it withing a week.
I’ve been listing small, easy to ship items. That’s the way I’m heading into selling this time around. I find it so much easier.
I’ve also changed up my storage solutions. I use to just use the shelves in my office but that sometimes required dusting items off. 🙁 And sometimes I’d have to search for the item, not fun.
I’ve also been doing my spreadsheets daily and not weekly or monthly.
Thank you, Amatino!
I look forward to the accountability. I’m hoping to have over 150 listing on etsy and enough to make it financially feasible to open an ebay store by May 1st. I haven’t allowed myself to scavenge in quite a while. But I’ve got the itch and my favorite church sales and auctions will be starting mid May. I will admit I still pick up free stuff and buy things we need, if I know where I can thrift it.
Thanks again!
