My wife and I have had the same conversations about buying higher dollar items. Which we always look for but at the same time I refuse to not buy an item I know I can make easy money on. So we are trying to buy higher dollar items but I am still buying bread and butter items. I want the best of both worlds! While at the same time not stressing my partner in crime out too much 😉
Probably around $2K on average. Some weeks less than $1K some weeks $5K. I need that average up to $3.5K before I would consider doing it full time.

There have been multiple times where my wife and I need to help each other get something into the flat rate where I am stepping on a thick sweater or something similar to get it in and it’s so stretched out on top I need to reinforce with tape.

Got the feedback removed finally. Talk about getting put through the ringer!
Yes I have the anchor store and all that stuff. Not sure on the number I think it’s an equation they have to allot a certain number. I actually just got off the phone with them again (they called me back) and they are taking it to a “peer group” which is just ridiculous. They said there is nothing in the feedback to make it removable and the buyer has to be the one to reverse the feedback.
So I asked them how the buyer has an option to reverse anything if I can’t send a revision request and it was crickets. I went on to say if they are all about the buyers being the ones to have control over reversing their feedback what is the solution in this scenario where the buyer has the option to reverse it and again crickets. So ebay has no solution to a buyer reversing the feedback if their is no revision request.
I have had lots of feedback removed for lots of reasons but could never imagine a buyer literally saying I apologize and want to remove the feedback and ebay refusing to remove it.
Clothes have been around the same for me the past year. It boils down to the law of diminishing returns when you reach a certain point.
I am closing in on 9k items many of which are clothes and your profits won’t exponentially increase as your listing do based on what I see. They do go up but not by the same percentage.
I make like $100 extra a week from 5k listing to 8k listings. It seems like there are certain tiers that you need to break through to make more. For clothes I think if you got to the 15k listing marks you would see a big change from when you are at 8k.
The returns are too much for me on clothes to even think about giving them up. It’s easy money. The main thing you need is patience and storage. I sell items regularly that have been listed for over a year.
I could probably not list one item next year and make $50k from eBay which is why I just keep pumping up the listings. You won’t see a dramatic increase right away but you will see it over the course of time. When you get a lot of listings.
For those of you that have people that work for you I would recommend sending them a little bonus for the holidays. It always keeps up morale and studies show happy workers are more productive workers.
It doesn’t have to be much it’s just the gesture they will appreciate. I gave everyone $100 bonus personally. Obviously if they have just started it’s different but for those that have been doing it for around a year it’s nice.
I am in the Albany NY area and am always looking for someone to help listing. I also know other scavenger’s in the area looking for similar help and can give you their contact information as well.
I usually price things on the high end. I thought it looked cool and it is the only one in the world so if the right person came along and saw a very high price on it they would think it was a high end piece.
The person that bought it lives in London so I wonder why they purchased it.
Storage for us at this point is fine. We have a large finished basement that we use currently. Long term I am going to build a warehouse. We have room for another 10k items pretty easily. Our Amazon inventory isn’t huge but we always sell something on there. We only have like 500 items on there. I just like it because I can just scan match low price and be done while I’m looking it up to buy. I literally have it listed before I buy it.
Fees are high and you get killed on shipping. Like board games that weigh 4 pounds to California you get $5.85 cents for example. Costs minimum $10-15 to ship for me so you just have to be aware of that.
A nice back to use is go to an item on eBay you already received positive feedback for, print another shipping label, you get the discount shipping from eBay and save a few bucks instead of using Amazon. I also use my eBay tape when I ship to amazon people so they are probably very confused when they receive the item.
I treat Facebook like Amazon. If I am scavenging and something fits on Amazon I’ll buy and the same for Facebook. Facebook would be tough to do full time but I can see someone making it work if you went all in.
The only issue with Facebook for the most part would be most of the groups you post to are regional and you can look anywhere in the country I suppose but at this point you are working with a small radius of people.
Facebook is very good for furniture or quick flips because you can meet someone the same day. I am meeting someone later today to buy some cool luggage I found and tomorrow for one of those ladders that break down into a small item.
