I sell on eBay mainly men’s clothes & accessories and also anything I buy or find which makes me a profit. In addition, I sell on Amazon FBA for media and replens, OfferUp/CraigsList for local sales on larger items and Bonanza but recently haven’t received any sales from there. Well a little bit about myself, as soon as I went full-time in 2013 we decided to rent a 1200sqft office which we thought was a great decision at the time. The office was shared with my girlfriend who is also a full-time reseller. We have separate stores and work well individually. We slowly grew into the space and even had our own employees. Our employees only did one or two things over and over again such as steam racks full of clothes, clean items or take pictures but never posted our items on eBay. We both grew our stores to around 1,000 items each and managed to make great money. After two years of being full-time resellers we both decided that the $800 office rent and 45 minute commute in Chicago traffic were not in our best interest or in line with our financial independence goals. So we decided to cut cost all together and fix our basement to minimize expenses and really focus on getting out of debt completely. So we jammed packed a full 1200sqft office space into the 800sqft basement of our home. In the past year, we’ve been able to pay down most of our debt. I have also added some other income streams while planning the next move to reach our debt-free goal in 2017.
Meanwhile, I did create a data entry form on excel which generates a file to upload into file exchange. It currently works to a certain extent but needs some minor tweaking. This is all in an effort to get our helpers again but this time to make their focus be listing items on eBay.
As for you guys coming to Chicago, that is great to hear! Hopefully we can cross paths. We live on the southside of Chicago and travel all over the city and suburbs almost every day for sourcing. We have a lot of thrift stores here (Goodwill, St. Vincent de Paul, Village Discount Outlets, Restoration Ministries Thrift, Savers, Salvation Army, Family Thrifts etc…), auctions, estate sales, flea markets and a couple of weigh-n-pays. Not to mention, Spring Clean-up Week is a good way to scavenge those free finds!
Thank you for replying to my intro.
Until next time,
