UPDATE
The last hat was listed today. It has been 28 months since the purchase and currently have 1136 hats for sale.
It has been a rather long road but listed each hat individually and have sold around 2500 or so. A number of the hats turned out to be in pretty bad condition and either donated or took the patches off to sell.
I would estimate that we have sold around $40k of hats and figure it will continue to be a pipeline for a few years. Thanks to everyone who gave some advice.
I list the hat as worn or distressed. I show pictures that it can’t stand on it’s own. A lot of times they display them .
My experience has been that most high end hat buyers understand this. They see so many listings with dust and terrible condition hats that I believe mine stand out.
Jay, most vintage high end trucker hats have the foam disintegrated and cleaning them is worth the effort.
The best way to clean these is with a shop vac. Take the attachment off and just use the hose. I Would also recommend using a mask to protect your lungs.
I have sold a lot of these over the years and collectors want them cleaned. They sell for more money without having dust and dirt all over them. My general rule is I will clean them if I can sell them for more than $20-$25.
I disagree a bit with Jay. I always keep the patches on and find they sell for more money even if the hats are in very good condition. Collectors a lot of times will take the patch off but are willing to pay more money for the hat.

lot of listing but down to the last few. i listed them for around $3500 total so worth the eyes glazing over a bit. . . .
do you think that saying for john deere rather than just john deere keeps the vero away?

i have never run into issues with John Deere. I find the whole Vero thing a little frustrating. I see hundreds if not thousands of these for sale and there are at least 20 JD manuals that sell everyday. I have no idea how they come up with which ones are not able to be sold and which ones can.

I have the space for now. I have a little over 1900 items and my unfinished basement can hold around 4000.
They are all different ones. They have to be cleaned, researched, listed and stored. It should take me a day or so to get done but some of these are going to be long tail items as not many people need a dealers repair manual for a 1980s tractor.
I like the hunt and sometimes get bored and have a hard time finishing a big lot.

I picked up a big lot of life size barbie dolls with some of them still in the box. These are apparently sought after. This one sold within an hour for $139.
Great finds on those hats.
A lot of drop shippers to Taiwan and Japan have alerts for those items (tractor, denim, etc). When one pops up that is priced too low, they snatch it immediately. I have been putting some of those up for auction at the price I was going to list for to see what happens. If it doesn’t sell at that price, will lower a few bucks and list it as good til cancelled. It is really hard to know what the market will do for some of those hats. I just sold two for $124 and $100 in the last few weeks that I thought were in the 50 dollar range.
Also, steve, thanks for the videos. I recently found a technics RS 95 Tape player that was sooo heavy, I took a chance on it for $5. A few you tube videos and the things was serviced and sold this week for $650 best offer. Not sure I would have gone for it without your knowledge.

does anyone know how many VERO a store can have before getting flagged? They pulled 12 items but it was in 2 emails. I have a little over 1600 items in the store and last one I got was over a year ago.

It says that it came from Ford company. I just tried to send them an email via the link they sent but it bounced back and said it was not a valid address.
what i don’t get is that there are tons and tons of these type hats for sale on ebay. I can’t figure out why these were targeted.
Taking all 25 of the other ones down seems painful. I know you are probably right but that’s a lot of money for sale.
when google pulls it up, I can’t see the bottom of the description where i store the locations. when i go to the link, it says that it’s not available.

This is for seller standards. mine says that I don’t qualify but ebay says that I do based on my listings.
