Items Sold: 15
Total Sales: $449.87 (no shipping included)
Highest Price Sold: $80 (Vintage Coat)
Average Price Sold: $ 29.99
Money Spent on New Inventory: $ 14.60 (Lousy Estate Sales lately, none worth going to)
Number of items listed: 43Gut Sales Report for the week: Sales were still eratic. Low ASP and low STR. I listed a lot, but it didn’t seem to matter. But then today, sales started to take off.
Focus for the week : Trying to keep up with listing. Trying to get taxes done.
Scavenge of the week: Got a good deal on a pair of NAOT shoes. These shoes are made in Israel and I always buy them.
Thoughts for the week: Estate sales have not been good lately, so I don’t go to them. This works for me because I have plenty of backlogged items that are ready to go and my go to thrift store is still turning out the deals.

Average Price Sold: $ 41.77

Scavenge of the week: Bought a new Universal remote for $10, and it has sold for about $230 on ebay. What? I didn’t think remotes were worth that much. I learned something new about remote controls this week!
Thoughts for the week: I enlisted the help of a retired friend to buy a 1960’s lunchbox at an estate sale near his house. I estimated it was worth about $200, but it was gone by the time he got to the sale.

Retro,
I can usually spot questionable fakes with Ugg boots, Coach purses, etc. But, I am not sure I have seen (or knew) a fake pair of Nike’s. What were the tell-tale signs of a fake pair of Nike’s?

popeyespostcards,
Another idea. In addition to selling one by one, try making sets of them to sell. Try to group the postcards into sets. The sets will sell for more and you have plenty of extra cards to make the sets. It may be a little more work, but I think it would improve your profits and get more cards sold.

Average Price Sold: $ 30.63

Scavenge of the week: Didn’t buy much, so a North Face Fleece that I bought for $4 was my best deal.
Thoughts for the week: I wrote a web application for my ebay store. So far, it records what you bought and where you bought it. The next step is to listing lots where you add items to it that you bought. Real basic, but I think it has some potential. Most software you see for ebay these days seems to focus on either listing or the tax side.

popeyespostcards,
From what I see, it looks like there are about a 100 copies of each postcard. That makes about 10,000 unique postcards which you will sell for about $5 each. Is that correct? If you sell 4% of the unique ones per month, then you will gross $2000 per month. You could go on doing that for about 2500 months, meaning you will never run out for about 200 years.
Is that how you figure it, or are your calculations different?

01/31/2022 at 8:09 pm in reply to: A sad day: local goodwills started individually pricing shoes #94950Retro,
I have seen this at my Salvation Army for awhile. Some of their shoes get mark to as high as $40-$50 sometimes. But, usually they are in the $12- $20 range. If I see a pair I think is good, I will look it up. But, I just don’t shop there much anymore because I can get good shoes for much cheaper than that. Also, like you, I have a large inventory of items just ready to be listed, so I am not the least bit desperate to buy items. With as many items as I have to list, I am now on the look out for really cheap good items or pay good money for really high end items.

Jay,
That could be what he is doing and would explain why I haven’t seen him before. Good deduction.
Mark
Jay,
That was what I also thought after I spoke with him. I should have asked what his net profit is before taxes. It was a fairly quick interaction that I had with him in line at the thrift store. I wish I would have taken down his store name or other contact information so that I could ask him more questions. But, what he said did make sense. If I had 26,000 items in my store, it could generate the gross income he said. He said he had been doing it for 10 years. My guess is that he has several employees and a large building or warehouse to handle that volume.
I have never seen him at a sale or at the post office in this area. I usually run into other ebayers in the area that way. Maybe he was just in town for the day, I don’t know.

Scavenge of the week: Picked up a Brother Printer\Copier\Scanner for $37.50. I think I can get around $200 for it. Also, picked up a bunch of 1970’s Quimper plates and other Quimper items at an estate sale. I have done well with my other 1940’s Quimper pottery (after hearing about it from J &R). I still have some of the 1940’s Quimper that I bought – it sells for good money but is long tail.
Thoughts for the week: Still waiting on the editing of my episode 1 for my youtube channel. I met a guy at the thrift store this week who showed me that he had sold $31,000 on Mercari last month with 26,000
items. That is the largest store I have heard of personally – either here or in person. He also sells on ebay doing cross listing with Six Bit.Mark S

I haven’t tried tucking the corners. Do you have a picture of what that looks like?

01/28/2022 at 9:39 pm in reply to: USPS Changes the Dimensions of the Large Side Loading Box 1095 #94891Correction. it appears that this change went into effect in September 2021.
It was a 1940’s Whistling Yo-Yo.
I passed it up at first at the estate sale because most yo-yo’s I have seen don’t sell for much. But you have to look closely at items when you are in a house with obviously old stuff. This house had a lot of mid-century items, so I went slowly and tried not to miss items like this. Very cheap at the estate sale because they didn’t know what it was.

Number of items listed: 0Gut Sales Report for the week: Sales were slow at the beginning of the week, then picked up. There was a run on Mens Ice Skates. I have sold 5 pairs since Friday. That is nearly a 72% sell thru rate for Modern Mens Ice Skates. I only had 7 pair and 5 sold in 3 days!. One guy did a local pickup. He told me he went to Play it Again Sports and they only had Size 6 and smaller. I had a run on Rollerblades in April of 2020 when the Pandemic started. I sold about 30 pairs of Rollerblades in April of 2020.
Focus for the week : No real focus this week. I spent time with friends and family and didn’t do much this week except ship and do a little shopping. I feel like I am slacking, but you need to give yourself some time off every once in a while to just enjoy things.
Scavenge of the week: Picked up a Pioneer CD changer for somewhat cheap. I think I can get $100 for it.
Thoughts for the week: I recorded the first episode for my youtube channel. The editing is still in process by my friend. I have my outline\thoughts on paper for episode 2.

I have never had a snake bite me, but I am not going to give that a shot. I think the same applies here – it probably would not end well!
