Okay, this is weird, I just sold an antique pickle castor as well last week for about $125. I did read somewhere that it was popular because of Downton Abbey. Maybe it was in one of your listings! I didn’t know what it was when it was consigned, but they are really cool. Moral of the story: if you see an antique pickle castor, pick it up 🙂
I had to laugh, I get messages like that frequently. I mean what is the point? You are not forcing him to buy it! LOL
Yes, I just noted the same thing. When I have gotten returns recently, they seem to sell so quickly when I relist, even at a higher price.
I am pretty sure I have some vintage woodworking bar clamps in my barn! Time to dust them off and see what happens! Thanks for the tip.
Loved the podcast, even my kids are into it now!
I have to say we are usually slowest this time of year, but not this year . . . are more people shopping on ebay and for quirky items rather than buying new for the holidays? I sure hope this is the reason!12/2/18-12/8/18

I don’t know why but most of our returns sell within a week of relisting, even at a higher price. Weird, wild stuff.I am still trying to increase our average sales price, and it is has been happening gradually. ASP is low now because we are taking very low offers on some items we would like to remove from inventory.
This week was exciting because we leased a spot at a local antique mall, we hope to get it set up this Thursday and Friday.
It will be nice to have a little public space without having to work it and get some local exposure for the business.
I have no desire to have another storefront, so hopefully this will be a middle ground. That is so good to read! Love that you met these goals and are taking a moment to appreciate that!
Yes, it was a lot…the $692 is what we paid our Consignors, I guess it would be equivalent to COGS for those of you scavenging.
Yes that is smart! The magic number we found for consignment is over $50 and I would love to get there…
I know what you mean, my family NEVER comes to visit without bringing me something to sell. 🙂
We also did the train from DE a few years back to FL with the kids and it was . . . well an experience!November 25-Dec 1, 2018

Customer was having trouble reporting guaranteed delivery claim. We are working through it!This was a LOT of shipping, 162 items in a week. It took up quite a bit of time, but hopefully as we
increase the average sales price, this will alleviate some of the time committment for low value items.
I have committed to posting and reading here on the forum, but having trouble finding the time, as I am sure many of you are as well!
I find so many of your posts helpful and inspirational, I finally found my people 🙂11/27/2018 at 7:27 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 387: Do Black Friday, Small Business Saturday or Cyber Monday Matter? #52388Oh, I didn’t even realize I used that term! What I mean by liquidating, is I sell off at a low price, and pretty much take any offer that doesn’t end up losing money (local pickups are great for this!). I am open to any other ideas to liquidate.

said they tried to deliver, however they said they don’t have it when she tried to pick it up. Low dollar items, but frustrating.I am working toward liquidating some of our lower priced inventory, and
increasing the average price of item sold. This was a busier week for us. Shipping was challenging due to volume and the size of some items.
We cleared out another area of attic for inventory! I like to call it our new “wing”!
Lots of death piles, but we are not taking any new consignments until the new year.
Have had a lot of consignors requests for us to consign, but we are at max.It worked after refreshing a few times, thank you! I only sent out a few, I am curious to see how it works for everyone!
We definitely set all prices, part of the appeal is that we research each item to make sure we are getting the best price. Most of the time consignors are happy with this, if they already have a price in mind or have unrealistic expectations, we do not consign the item. It is better they sell it themselves. If buyers want to pick up their items, they can let us know beforehand, and we choose items accordingly (needs to be at least $50 resale to qualify). We did have pickup, but 95% of the people that said they wanted to pick up unsold items never did. Lesson learned on my end! Our consignors don’t get mad, we are very clear with the contract going in, but it can be tricky. Most of our consignors are clearing out, redecorating, and selling parts of an estate, they don’t want it back!
