This is the July slowdown we generally experience this time of year… we just keep listing.
A bummer happening yesterday… we (me) have been volunteering at a local thrift store for the past 4+ years in the book department. We were told of a policy page forbidding the paid and volunteer staff from shopping from the back… we have the lady in charge price our items and then I pay up front after shopping the shelves there…apparently – no more. This morning I tendered our resignation and let them know that if it changes we would be open to volunteering once more… we will see… So, changes and we will find new places to shop and get caught up on all the backlog we now have.
That’s 12 inch LE Smith Lamp!
I must say that Pennsylvania is one of my favorite places to visit for thrifting, food and beautiful countryside and quaint towns. While Son lived in New Jersey, we traveled to Lancaster and also Reading, where we had relatives…they’ve since moved to the Rochester, NY area. BUT Daughter just moved to Belcamp, MD which is only about an hour from Lancaster… Planning trips to see them in the fall..
Our best score was a 2″ LE Smith Turquoise Blue Hurricane lamp that might bring 90.00 and a crystal loving cup gold award that we’ve got up for 70.00 – Almost every week, we bring home boxes of books, magazines and paper – I estimate about 1K from last weeks two boxes. Tomorrow we are going to go take around 7 boxes of culls and donate them far away from us! We’ve been working diligently on organizing around 2K magazines we’ve collected over the past 4-5 years (I know!) and vintage recipe booklets that we plan on lotting up. Then we’ve got the vintage magazines that date back to collecting them up to 20 years ago… (I know!) and then.. 3 racks of clothing, scarves and ties… not to mention one big box of tupperware from my long ago days as a Tupperware Lady! Then we will mostly be caught up!

It’s been about a year and a half since I posted our numbers.. I read y’alls numbers and all the posts every week though, and miss the weekly podcast greatly, but I know Jay and Ryan have been super-busy and they and the rest of you guys have been a real inspiration for our family business.
We have almost doubled our inventory since February 2022. Daughter and I started this business in 2018, she has since moved to Maryland and Son has moved home from New Jersey and has joined the business and been a huge factor in our expansion.
Thanks to eBay we were able to purchase the adjoining property of 10 acres and another old house that we are slowly renovating and plan to make it a Medium Term Rental with the exception of the months that the Round Top-Warrenton Texas Antique Shows occur twice a year in October and March. We are only 16 miles from Warrenton and there are lots of local activities that would appeal to renters. We also have a plan to market the house as a Writer’s Retreat… or something like that.
I know this is long, but thanks for reading! I thank you all for sharing!

Returns: 0 – But 2 are coming back – One a jacket which the customer tore when she put it on –claimed it arrived damaged and a Luckenbach Deputy Badge – says it wasn’t authentic – we did not list it as authentic but obsolete so that is our mistake – if we decide to list it again, it will clearly be stated replica – should have done that in the beginning. $152.36 Plus we’ll have to refund shipping they paid and pay to get the items back. Ah well!

We don’t get many returns, so it’s an opportunity to remain calm.
It looks like thistles or maybe artichokes to me… possibly.
