Just applied thanks to everyone’s help. The message I got was you will not receive an email confirmation that they received your application. You will however get a message when they are processing your application. Good Luck to everyone!!
Just so I understand the proper way to handle things in the future. Do I not do anything until the buyer opens a case on a broken item? Do I tell them they need to open a case? Last year was the first time an item broke. They didn’t open a case so I guess I didn’t get final value fees.
Thanks everyone.
They opened a case and I asked for pictures. What do I do if they don’t send pictures before the case deadline.
Hello all,
I wanted to give an update. First of all this still hasn’t been resolved. My insurance claim with FedEx was actually pretty easy. I had to provide a few things and got a check of $100 plus freight back from FedEx after a week. Shipsaver has been a bit more complicated. They made me contact a repairer to find out the cost if it can be repaired. Their suggested repairman gave me a quote and said it can be repaired. The item was a large porcelain figure that broke into many many pieces of all different sizes. I really don’t believe it can be repaired and look good. I have told Shipsaver a few times that the buyer doesn’t want it repaired and I can’t resell a busted item. I don’t believe the repairman could get all the tiny pieces put back together. If he did it would actually cost Shipsaver more. So right now Shipsaver and I keep going in circles. I definitely never thought FedEx would be the easier one of the two. Sigh.
I actually just emailed them and they got back to me super quick. You are right they seem to be super helpful over there. I filed with FedEx for the first $100. Then I contacted a repair specialist to see if the item could be repaired. A little silly when its broken into many pieces of all different sizes. Thanks for you help. High Fives from a former MA girl now living in NH.
It was shipped FedEx Ground.
Thanks Jay!!!! I called ebay after I got your message. They closed the return item case because it was past 30 days. I checked her feedback and I didn’t see a pattern. Thanks for the help and hopefully this is the end of that.
Well I call today on this and the rep basically said its the buyer’s opinion. I had messaged the buyer after Jay’s advice and never heard a word. The ebay rep told me to reach out again. So I did and I don’t expect to hear anything. I will call again at the end of the month. Thanks for your help Jay and Ryanne. Even if I can’t get it removed I appreciate all the advice.
