I haven’t explored it fully and but Wave Bookkeeping does General Journal entries, inventory, syncs and is cloud based. And it’s free.
I was told at the Post Office that Retail Ground is not available for any Zone (1-4) that goes by truck anyway. It is only available for Packages going to Zones that would normally be put on a plane for Priority Mail and are now going by truck.
New Question! How do you set up an CASH account in GoDaddy? I often use cash for scavenging and things like the above mentioned watch batteries. I would like to see an ATM transaction as a Transfer Out to a Cash account and then the Expense (COGS) from that Cash account.
Any Suggestions? – Thanks! ElizabethFound my own answer – hope helps others – Elizabeth
Cost of goods sold is the cost of the merchandise that was sold to customers. The cost of goods sold is reported on the income statement when the sales revenues of the goods sold are reported.
A retailer’s cost of goods sold includes the cost from its supplier plus any additional costs necessary to get the merchandise into inventory and ready for sale. For example, let’s assume that Corner Shelf Bookstore purchases a college textbook from a publisher. If Corner Shelf’s cost from the publisher is $80 for the textbook plus $5 in shipping costs, Corner Shelf reports $85 in its Inventory account until the book is sold. When the book is sold, the $85 is removed from inventory and is reported as cost of goods sold on the income statement.
Top Rated as well as sellers with at least 300 transactions during the previous month will receive $100 of insurance coverage with each USPS Priority Mail purchased using eBay labels.
Top Rated Sellers automatically get $100 Insurance on Priority Mail if they use Ebay labels.
Apologies in advance if this issue has been addressed – I am pressed for time and can’t read everything that might deal with this. An FYI of sorts – I have a tax ID and have always collected, filed and submitted Sales Tax to the State of Massachusetts because that is where my business is based. I called EBay Customer Service because I noticed a buyer from MA was not charged Sales Tax and wondered if my settings got messed up. They said MA was one of the States they collected for and I did not need to worry about it but after Nov 1st, PayPal will take over that service. I asked what if you are on Managed Payments and they didn’t have an answer for me….
The Rep did however ask if I wanted to opt into Managed Payments but I would never ever until they have Global Shipping Program and PayPal. I happen to have a package that shipped to Australia through GSP that opened a “Not Delivered” case but it is not my problem thank goodness!

Actually rereading, without MP, a buyer does have to go through PayPal(an extra step) but they don’t have to make an account, they can checkout as a guest.
Thanks- I am talking about scenario #2.
Just as an extra thought, as a consumer I don’t like anyone having my CC number automatically “on my account”. The extra 30 seconds to enter my payment information is worth it for my piece of mind. I can’t tell you how many times my cards have been replaced by the bank because of suspected compromise. If you have ever been hacked, you would never leave a payment method “on account”.Apologies if I missed any of discussions on this but I don’t understand why managed payments are better if customers don’t have PayPal. As far as I know, customers don’t need a PayPal account to buy something now, they can check out as a guest and use whatever credit or debit card they want. I’m fairly certain they could even use Venmo or any other digital payment system or even send PP a check. Someone please let me know if I am wrong! Thanks , Elizabeth
Hummel knockoff?
08/09/2019 at 9:55 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 422: Ready for a Recession at Any Time #66121Very small store but hadn’t sold anything in weeks and when I found time to sit down and do some listings, two things sold next day…
Just as an aside, our regular wholesale business, (Sales Representatives in the Gift field)) is awful! There might be deals to be had at New York Gift and Stationery Show next week if anyone buys new goods. Be warned though, unless you are Grandfathered in, most companies are restricting any new Amazon or Ebay sellers in an effort to control the market and MAP pricing. Our retail store accounts are closing left and right (they can’t compete with online sales) and we can’t open any new online retailers so forecast looks rough.
As a Boston Native, I consider UMass Amherst and Northampton the beginning of Western Massachusetts and true West is the Berkshires like Lenox (Boston Pops, Tanglewood), North Adams (Mass MOCA) etc.. Other mispronounced towns: Haverhill (hav-ril), Medford (Med-fud), Norfolk (nor-fork).
Medfield still has DeAngelos! Steak and Cheese with Onions – yum! We just got a Jersey Mikes in Franklin, MA – any good?
I had an 8 pound package that measured 22″x15″x10″. The buyer paid about $30 shipping on a $60 item! Using a Zone Chart on USPS website, Retail Ground would have much much cheaper (can’t remember exact amount). I thought it odd that on the USPS website, I could not even calculate a Retail Ground price – thought might be some kind of note “This option is for purchase at Post Office only” or something. I discovered when I went to Post Office the package was ineligible for Retail Ground because destination (MA to NY) was a Zone 4 and that goes by truck anyway so Priority Rate applied. So the upshot is Retail Ground only is available: at the Post Office and if it is a Zone that would be flown.
