I need a cross stitch in my etsy room that says, “IF YOU ARE NOT LISTING, THEN YOU ARE JUST HOARDING”
I’ve heard jay in my head these last couple days repeating that sentence. And I start listing!!!! lol

my mom has wanted a worm farm FOREVER. i can’t even tell you how many hours i spent in the car with her as a kid listening to her talk about worm farming lol. not every day you come across a worm farmer!!
09/12/2019 at 11:19 pm in reply to: Other ways of scavenging that you're impressed and refreshed by!!! #67750Jay- I’m so curious to know what he makes too. From what I understand- the important part is that the mushrooms are foraged from the woods and not grown in an indoor situation. Then the restaurant can brag that the mushroom was plucked from the wilderness just mere hours ago!!! or whatever lol. but i also wonder what he does other parts of the year. He’s only been bringing us mushrooms for about a month…which makes sense because this is the season for them. Maybe he forages other things other parts of the year? Part of me was wishing he was on this forum and would just be like oh im the mushroom dude! this is how much i make every year!! haha.
@Inglewood – sounds like you do have an idea of something to do with children! What a fun thing to do and a great way for them to learn!! love it!
okay also totally meant to post this in the comments…..that’s awkward it won’t let me fix it!! sorry for jacking up your podcast comments section ryanne!!
very cool!! Thanks for linking to that Jay, totally gonna check it out. Yeah, my parents were always scavengers but never sold a thing. You guys would have a FIELD DAY in their house. A huge victorian home filled to the brim with antiques and one of a kinds. They keep stressing about not having a retirement plan lately and I keep telling them their retirement plan is everything that’s sitting in their house. They have so many valuables but can’t get past enjoying them. I like to enjoy the stuff I source *until it sells*. and then I enjoy seeing money in my bank account lol. But I do have to give them credit for giving me an eye. I was raised to have an eye. And I’m happy to pass that down to Max 🙂
good to know! I have one in yellow!
Yeah that was my initial thought because of the shape but I thought the same thing as you-doesn’t look old enough.
I don’t know if it’s obvious but the imgur link contains four photos- you can hit the next button on the side of the photo to go through all of them. Sorry I’m new to this! haha
also antique frog- love the beanie baby shade hahahahaha!
Thanks guys!! I’m hoping it goes well but also not trying to get my hopes up too much at the same time haha. Maybe I’ll post a month to month update if people are interested. I went today to take measurements and it’s pretty sizeable! I can fit a lot of stuff in it for sure. It’s about 8 feet tall, 4 and a half feet wide, and 4 feet deep. With custom shelving and focusing on selling a lot of “smalls”, I’m hopeful to pack it with cute stuff and turn a good profit. We shall see!! Now the only trouble is finding a babysitter while I go build shelves and paint and set things up for hours on end this week….lol.
well! 10:36 on halloween night and my 4 year old is bouncing off the walls so I’m gonna go attempt to put him in bed!!! Hope everyone had a nice Halloween! 🙂

10/25/2018 at 12:21 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 382: Treasure Hunting with a Fishnet #50684okay this might be a bit of a “jay tangent’ (affectionately named, of course) but I just love how much you learn about random crap when you’re doing this stuff. Like…you can search one thing because you’re researching prices and it just opens up a whole entirely new world or new category of stuff that you suddenly realize….omg I’ve never thought about really looking at that stuff before! And it happens so often that it just makes you sit back and realize….there is so much cool stuff out there. There are so many things to learn about and so many niches to discover. Idk I’m feeling like Jay when he’s just like “i just…love ebay.” haha. but really. I learn new things every day and I find new old companies every day that are so interesting and there is so much history and they produced so many quality items that are just sitting in thrift stores all over the world!!! agh. I know these are all very obvious statements but sometimes you just get so re-invigorated when you go down a fun rabbit hole. I bought two like…metal mesh-kind of like lame? (la-may) evening bags today from the 1930’s and the research for the company that made them has just sent me on the coolest path ever. And now I have another cool interesting thing to look out for that I never really knew much about! Fun!
Oh yeah-thanks ryanne. That was unclear-I didn’t mean the freight forwarder was sketchy-the customer using the the freight forwarder was at fault.
Hahaha jay! That’s too funny. Yeah, in the city freecycle would be amazing! Maybe not so much in rural Virginia… haha.
The company is Meest in that episode^^^ forgot to add that.
