Wow you have a lot going on @VL. @VT I listed something 5/7 days this week. Have something going on healthwise but feeling mostly better now. Need to finish listing Christmas and will continue to crosspost.
Yokes its really desd this weekend. 😢😬
Ps. Are people having issues with the post office? I had an item arrive unsealed today (buyer let me know was ok but happened). Had an item go to another coast and come back to the buyer in my home state. Have some items running late on Poshmark with ground. Also ordered something myself and it’s taking forever. Finally, my post office is not scanning on the day I put it on the bin (I get annoying email from Poshmark when it gets a scan).
yes. It sounds so easy in theory but I had a market, got sick, had some sleep issues and before you know it, it’s only half of the days. I tried at a certain time of day but that didn’t work because of family stuff and sleep issues. But sales are up and I’m motivated!
Listed 16/31 days in October. Going to try to hard to list at least a couple of items each day. The software program is starting to end and sell similar on a few items a day for me. Luckily I can see what it’s doing because I get a prompt to promote.
I have several old campaigns running and a few items at 9% (clothing). I think I’m going to end them all and go with 2.1% on eveything. The policy starts tracking clicks mid-December so before then.
I lost my weekly number post but I think I had listed about 14 items. I did a little better listing 5/7 days. My goal is to try to list at least a few items every day, and some days I crank out 10+. Working on listing Christmas right now. Very unfortunately Halloween was a bit disappointing and I have a couple of those items I didn’t get listed. However, I have sold Halloween during the year.
Yeah this is bs. Someone suggested that if they promote to one person and the person likes, then in theory the algorithm will show your item to other people finding it organically. I’m not so confident they deserve the whole fee for that. Sellers in Europe report no increase in sales along with the additional fees. I sent feedback they should try to grow their customer base rather than to keep raising fees.
I feel like we are getting squeezed by the consumer and the platform. Seeing the Poshmark (soon to be roughly equal to promoted Ebay) up front you realize that you had better get good, fast selling items and get them cheap. I’m being really careful sourcing and doing less of it. I guess one plus of having a death pile is that I bought some of it while thrift store prices were lower.
oops my new weekly sales post got eaten.
eBay 915
Poshmark 239
Mercari 211Mercari $14.36
Poshmark $157.00
eBay $576.90100%. Look at this whole new generation appreciating vintage and Ebay has hardly grown its buyer base during that time. For sure missed a lot of opportunities for growth during a time when it should have been so easy to go after those people online.
OTOH, I know a lot of those other platforms people are giving up and returning to Ebay just because it’s huge. Sites like District and Mercari work so much better but the buyer base is much smaller. I quit listing on District and heard it was having trouble keeping afloat. It was designed by resellers and had a lot of great features.
LOL I’m not good at splitting my attention but yeah, did not get me excited. I hope they do put a lot of advertising out and it’s not all for motors and sports cards. Etsy has been going after that present market for years. At least they are not trying to be Amazon any longer. That was frustrating to see the buy a new large BBQ on Ebay (but pay shipping) ad during football.
Going to Open was so representative of Ebay. Some good, smart people working there – nice, real people who appreciate sellers and took notes of their feedback to improve Ebay. Some embarrassing crappy dumb high level executive presentations. Some unrelatable seller presenters, while very relatable “fix this or confirm this” questions and complaints from the audience. Terrible store review rep at Ebay and technical problems but a stellar inside scoop and custom report on Zoom. In short, some great talent at Ebay but I don’t think they get the best of Silicon Valley. They have the biggest used market but also hide your listings. They innovate but don’t fix basic things. It’s such a total mixed bag.
@mycottage did you listen? I played the replay for a while but didn’t find it too interesting and I kind of lost track of what they were pushing besides noticing suggested ad campaigns. I did hear that they are sticking with the “Things People Love” campaign and emphasizing stories of finding unique items. It’s often the car parts that they are using but oh well.
Thanks @mycottage. I might be able to catch part of it. Ebay loves to talk about AI but I’m not finding their stuff very helpful. I wouldn’t think they would be one of the first to open up to ChatGPT but we’ll see. I heard this week that Etsy and Walmart did but Amazon is blocking.
I listed 17 items last week. Not what I was hoping for but I was not feeling well. Starting to work on Christmas.
I can’t really sort by original listing date any longer, but I know some vintage kitchen stuff has been sitting a while. Also I have trouble with pottery sometimes in person and online. Other times, pottery sells well. I used to pick up more china, but I’m pretty selective now. Unfortunately I have a lot of flatware to list and I hear it’s very long tail.
