My favorite Podcast ever! I love to do several different businesses as well. I have a small cleaning business, sell on Ebay, my store hovers around 1000 listings, work at a job I love 12 hours 3 days per week. Work schedule is Tues, Sat and Sunday 10:30 am-10:30 pm work 36 hours get paid for 40. Its not for everyone but with 4 days off per week I have more than enough time to enjoy life and pursue all my ideas. My mother in law and I want to buy a food truck or cart within the next 3 years and set up at our huge flea market and sell Mexican food, tacos, gorditas, etc. If that day happens I will be sure to let Jay know. My husband and I also are looking into buying a lake house to run as an AirBNB. Life is full and there are more fun ideas to pursue than we can manage. Its a good problem.
My item is the pitcher. It weighs 33.9 oz.
Hi all. Today I went out to a nearby town and found a great item. I had never visited this thrift store before and as I was checking out their stuff I was appalled at how much they were asking for little knick nacks. $15 for a $2 item. As I was getting discouraged I kept thinking that Jay and Ryanne would continue looking just in case. In the back room I found this Juventino Lopez Reyes JLR Mexican Modernist Sterling Silver 925. Prices are all over the place 500-1300. I paid $12 and that’s all I bought there. Thank you for the weekly inspiration.
http://imgur.com/a/SHwuCAre any of the Scavenger Life community members going to this? I bought my ticket yesterday. Pretty excited but definitely wish Jay and Ryanne were on the panel.
The Indy meetup today went great. There were 4 of us, Pam, Bidders Basement, MlsIndy and myself. I only scavenged at two places while there and bought very little. I did not see the high quality Vintage or the amount of good brand clothing that we find here in Northern Indiana. However, I did shop very quickly, so I am sure I did not give it a fair chance. Sorry to hear you’re heading down south but I am sure you will love it. Lots of fun things to do in a bigger town. I follow a few Ebay stores in Bloomington and Evansville and they are doing really well so I know there is stuff to be found. Good luck and best wishes.
See you all Thursday. Thank you!
Thurs Feb 16th sounds good. I can wake up early and be there whenever works best. Since I am not familiar with the scavenging in Indy someone else should handle the details of the meet up. Looking forward to it, thanks!
Jay and Brit-
Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. My client with MS has a first grader and an 8th grader and I have been with them for 5 years. Leaving a factory or corporate job is much easier than one with emotional ties. I am sure others may experience this, perhaps in a family owned business. I know that the best thing I can do is be honest and considerate.
I live in Northern Indiana but would love to meet up on Feb 16th. I own a small cleaning business and run that part time and do Ebay part time. I have only thrifted at the Carmel Goodwill for personal items a few years ago. I am interested to see if the finds are more profitable in a bigger city. I currently have approximately 850 items in my store and make $500-$700 per week. I average about 2 hours per days between thrifting, listing, and shipping. My goal is to go full time Ebay by July 1st this year.
June 17, sounds like they are still debating whether it will be one or two days.
