Number of items listed this week: 29This was a good week for footwear. In addition to my highest selling item (UGG Boots) I sold a pair of Olukai slip-on shoes and a pair of Peloton cycling shoes.
I had picked up a vintage framed pen & ink & watercolor drawing of an Old West windmill and water tank. I had it listed for years and recently sent out an offer to a watcher. It finally sold to a buyer in Arizona.
In true scavenger style, I spotted an old Char-Broil gas grill dumped in a Sam’s Club parking lot. I circled back and harveted the 2 wheels, the 2 feet, 2 control knobs, and the piezo flame igniter – all without tools. I gotta admit, I was thinking of Jay & Ryanne as I was doing it! I cleaned them up and listed them that day. I already sold one of wheels to a buyer in Puerto Rico.
I’ve noticed I have been selling to quite a few buyers in West Virginia lately. I don’t know why, but I certainly welcome their business!
This past Saturday started out cool and breezy (for Florida) and we had too many yard sales for us to go to them all. At least two of those sales were in communities with many people selling in their drive-ways. That was my main sourcing venue for the week. I also popped into a thrift store on Tuesday and bought 8 older books including Electronics guide books published by Radio Shack back in the 1990’s.

Number of items listed this week:31Received a link from eBay for my 1099-K this morning – Taxes…Ugh. I’ll be appointing myself to getting all my numbers together. I will meet with my tax guy on February 7. I’m a recently retired small fry and I have not set up a plan to pay any taxes quarterly. Time will tell what kind of a bite I will see this year.
This was a satisfactory week for me. A couple of sales over $50.00, which for me is remarkable.
This past weekend was a good one for sourcing. My wife and I hit several yard sales and one thrift store. Now I have a sizable hill of items to process.Certain thrift stores I go to have astronomical prices. Others seem to go through phases where prices are high for a month or two, and then everything seems more reasonable. I credit this to the people behind the scenes doing the actual pricing. When I see the prices are lower, I assume there is a new person doing the pricing – and hope they stick around for a while!
Ryanne, congratulations on placing so well in your competition. When you pour your heart and soul into something, it feels so good when your peers see and acknowledge that. We’re proud of you!
Hope all of you are doing well.

Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $109.00
Number of items listed this week: 39I am seeing my numbers moving up across the board with one exception. Gross and Net numbers are up. Average Price Sold is up. But what is down is quantity of items sold (down by 1).
There were lots of sales in my area this past weekend. Temperatures in the upper 70s and sunny skies. I scored a bunch of kitchen knives at one sale, and some new coin collectors supplies at an estate sale.
I am still trying to learn the Quality over Quantity lesson. I bought many items for $1.00 or less that each may sell for $10.00. I didn’t find any “home-runs” this weekend. If I am going to be sitting on an item for weeks, months or years – better it’s a $1.00 item than a $35.00 item.
What are your thoughts? This was an okay week for me, and an improvement over recent weeks. I sold some items that were listed for years, and another item sold within hours of it being listed.
I had 3 bottles of vintage Gillette after shave lotion listed for a while. A buyer from Canada asked if I would sell him just one bottle. I ended the first listing and relisted the items separately. Wouldn’t you know they all sold shortly after that. Always learning!

Number of items listed this week: 1My net sales were 44% of gross sales this week. That seems too high to be a good business model. I was giving some good deals to blow things out the door.
One DVD sold and I could not lay my hands on it, so I did something I learned from Resale Rabbit on his YouTube channel. I purchased another copy from an eBay seller and had them “Drop-Ship” the item to the buyer. In this way my buyer got the item they ordered, I did not have to disappoint them with news that I could not fulfill the order, and I did not receive any “demerits” from eBay for canceling an order (that’s a thing, right?)
Happy New Year, Ya’ll!

Number of items listed this week: 18With other things going on in my year-end calendar, I did absolutely no sourcing this week. I did make time to list some items from my death pile, and even a few items from my personal collection that I’ve had for about 30 years.
One of the reasons I started selling on eBay 4 or 5 years ago was to minimize my possessions. I’m getting older, and I suppose it is natural to want to pare down one’s excess accumulations with age.
Ironically, because of eBay, I now have more possessions than ever before in my life! The only difference is, instead of calling it my “Collection”, I now call it my “Inventory”.Happy New Year!

Found at my grocery store’s clearance shelf, which is typically the first place I look each time I do the weekly grocery shopping.

Number of items listed this week: 28Although I’ve been a Forum member 3 plus years, and have been listening to Ryanne & Jay for awhile, including relistening to older podcasts now, last week was my first posting of my weekly numbers. I guess it helped motivate me to get some listing done. I’ve been powering through my death pile and have already made a few sales from my newly listed items. Funny how that works.
Merry Christmas to all!

I picked up a Hurom Slow Juicer at a thrift store a few months ago for $12.00. Finally got it cleaned up, photoed and listed for $175.00!
Also parted out a Hamilton Beach Juicer I bought for $5.00 into 7 listings totaling over $75.00. Hat tip to Ryanne for the idea!
Another of my listings this week was actually a relisting of an item that sold but was never paid for. eBay automatically relisted after it was timed out and canceled by eBay. -
