Thank you, I absolutely will. It is always so enjoyable to meet like minded people!
It did feature Sioux Falls. It is now on my bucket list to visit- it is an amazingly beautiful place. I literally rewound the shots of Sioux Falls three times to watch the beautiful vistas and scenery. If you ever get a chance to see it I highly recommend it.
I hope you enjoy it. I loved the special and was quite inspired to be more of the fabric of a small town. Two of my kids (two are college age and two in high school) have moved away to go to college close to big cities and fell in love with the cities (Stanford- San Francisco and NCState- Raleigh) and all that they have to offer. I still have hope with my last two at home getting them to buy into the charm of the fabric of small town living. I think I didn’t fully appreciate how much of an impact we can have on our own lives as well as the lives of others around us when we live small.
When I replaced my dishwasher I used the old silverware container for rolled up poly bags. Works great for me.
I would love to read this book. I have my name on the waitlist at the library and this will tide me over, thank you!!
I like Podcasts including Scavenger Life, Serial, Everyday Einstein, planet Money, Grammar Girl, Brain Stuff, Note to Self, Invisibilia, and my all time favorite Revisionist History.
I also have gone to all the local towns in my area and sign up for their library cards. I then use the App Libby and download Audiobooks.
Thank you Antique Frog. I am pretty naïve so I could see me missing a tricky person removing something from a bin. Not how I think so I can imagine I’d be confused when I noticed it was gone. As far as the bidding etiquette I’m glad you mentioned it. I will take your advice. My first auction will Be this Thursday. I will watch and enjoy and hopefully I will have some fun.
Thank you. I will absolutely take a look. I really appreciate you taking the time to help me.
You guys are awesome! Thank you. I appreciate each one of you helping me with tips and hints. I am so grateful to have people to “talk shop with”. So many people glaze over or struggle not to let their mouth gape open when I tell them what I do in my “spare time”. Im going to go look at the links Sharon to see what draws you.
I found an auction house about 40 minutes from my house that has weekly auctions on Thursdays. I’m going to check it out next week. Then I’m going to start looking at some rustic locations to peruse. The most enjoyable part of life is learning new things and auctions sound like they will be enjoyable to learn. I’ll report back.
This is so much fun!!

I love this. There is nothing better than getting free things and saving the Earth! I was in Palo Alto in August for a swim meet and was so lucky to find a portable air conditioner on the curb trash day. It was incredibly hot and my Airbnb didn’t have air conditioning. I was so grateful. Most interesting part was after I left the Airbnb the owner messaged me and asked why I left a $450 portable a/c unit. I told him that I found it curbside. I looked again and it is in his listing as having a portable A/C unit. Win/Win!!
Awesome advice. I’m going now to see if I can cancel. Thank yiu
It is odd that they don’t ship in a timely manner. It makes much mores sense if they are the drip shipper. Didn’t even think about this.
Thank you
Thank you. I purchased the flag on amazon and it will arrive in time. I’m so grateful for the advice.
I struggle with a pile of more than valuable items that I don’t know how to price. It is easier for me to list a boring bible that is worth 12.00 than a vintage Monte Blanc Pen that I’m afraid to underprice. So I have a pile of things that I should list but don’t know the value. Maybe I’ll tell myself to list one thing s day that I feel uncertain the value until I’m feelimg comfortable with it.
Thank you. I’m teaching my kids along the way how to resell and live on less. I hope that affords them a future that brings them joy- that would be my biggest success of all!
