You should be able to get the feedback removed since it was a product review. I had a neutral removed a week ago that stated the buyer had no idea the book would be so small, even though I had listed both the measurements and page count for it. I just filled in the removal request form and it was removed a few hours later. I didn’t even have to call or email Ebay to deal with it.06/05/2020 at 7:01 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 465: Shipping Commodity Items #78123
Sounds like a good cd haul. I’d suggest looking up the artists on discogs as well, if you haven’t already. The cds might have pages and items listed in the marketplace. The marketplace also offers a sold (low, high and last) history.
Wow. I’m surprised they’re giving a bonus shipping coupon so close to the July one. Still, yay for free stuff.05/30/2020 at 6:29 am in reply to: Whoa, what? Walmart to start selling used clothing and accessories online??? #77928
Thredup seems to be used multiple ways by clothing resellers – some go to the Goodwill Outlet and send their items to Thredup instead of listing the items themselves on poshmark or ebay. Others buy resell boxes of stock from thredup to list on ebay or poshmark. I’ve also seen some resellers buy on thredup and send the items back to thredup to resell.
I’ve got some clothes I’ve been meaning to list since January but keep on putting off because I don’t want to deal with the possibility of returns. I’m just going to sell them on thredup at this point – they send a free bag and shipping label so you don’t even have to pay to send your clothing to them. They take care of all of the photography, listing, customer service and shipping. Pretty great for people like me who aren’t clothing resellers but also don’t want to just donate these items to a thrift store.05/29/2020 at 7:21 am in reply to: Whoa, what? Whoa, I’m shocked to see a zero hedge link on this forum.

In order to set up a facebook business page without linking back to your personal info, you’ll want to start off by creating a second instagram account just for your business. In the settings of your new instagram account, you can change it from a personal account to a business account. In one of the set-up options during this process, it asks if you would like to create a facebook business page.05/18/2020 at 3:26 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 463: The Painful Gaze Of A Boss vs The Freedom To Do What I Want #77537
225 items shipped out last week. Shipped 30+ items a day 6 days last week, Monday-Saturday. Saturday pick-ups are amazing! It now allows me to get my Sunday sales out on Monday instead of Tuesday, as I don’t want to overwhelm the postal people. I’ll definitely be taking advantage of it from now on.
40 items out today. In the past few weeks, a typical Monday has seen 50-60 orders ship out. It is partially down today due to the Saturday ship-out, as well as just lower sales in general this past weekend. For now, I feel like my business might have peaked last week. With more of the country opening up, a lot of their $$$ will go towards shopping in person again. That being said, a piece of ephemera I listed just now sold within 5 minutes. There are clearly still a lot of people sitting at home with nothing to do but scour Ebay, so I’ll just see this potential slow down as an opportunity to catch up on listing. There might also be people saving money for Memorial Days sales.
Looks like NYC might very slowly start to reopen in June. I don’t think we’ll get access to thrift stores again until July at the very very earliest. Considering how crowded they were pre-pandemic, I will continue to avoid them for at least the first two months they’re open, if not longer. I have enough of a backlog and new stock coming in that I’m not worried about missing out – no fomo during this pandemic. We did order a couple of times off grubhub last week, so I’m not completely avoiding other people. The drivers wore masks and just texted that they left the items outside. It is feeling safe enough to start very slowly returning back to basic normalcy like that, but I really don’t want to have fellow thrifters breathing down my neck as I’m looking at stuff. It was bad enough when they did that pre-pandemic. I’ve also seen photos of people going to flea markets wearing masks and that is definitely another experience I would skip out on if I was able to go out to one at this moment.05/14/2020 at 7:11 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 462: What We’re Working Towards #77413
That is such good news! Hoping for a continued successful recovery and a return to normalcy as quickly as possible.05/13/2020 at 3:40 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 462: What We’re Working Towards #77394
Thanks for the link, I’m listening to it now. This youtube personality is actually one of the ones that greatly annoys me. I’m not surprised he didn’t have anything useful to say in this regard – it’s just shouty ranting that isn’t helpful in this video. He is quick to panic and stir up the pot with opinions – he has done this in the past with search issues. Very Chicken Little about every aspect of Ebay, yet still makes his youtube $$$ telling people how to sell on the site. Go figure. I’m going to guess with the “I’ll get rid of everything” comment that he has no alternate venue set up to transition his listings to. That’s fine. He could just plainly state that in the video.
I believe I read a few years ago that it was an Ayden issue, but they were supposedly in talks to get payment processing (by them or someone else? IDK) sorted for these other categories. I don’t know why it has taken them years to figure something out.
Adult material has always been an issue with other countries – Adult’s Only only allows for sales to the US and Canada. If your “global shipping” program is checked by accident in the listing, it will alert you prior to listing with an error message. I’ve always only just shipped to the US to be safe.05/12/2020 at 3:09 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 462: What We’re Working Towards #77364
Interesting. Did they say where they’re moving adult only materials to? I looked into getting a shopify store specifically for them, but they prohibit that material. I don’t know what online storefront/payment provider specifically allows for that material outside of Ebay’s Adult Only. Well, sometimes you can get away with it on Amazon or Abebooks. Also Etsy if you’re careful, but otherwise I don’t know where a 100% safe spot for that sort of material would be?05/12/2020 at 1:58 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 462: What We’re Working Towards #77361
I pull all of the Ebay sales for both stores, the Etsy sales and usually half of the other sales from the normal bookselling sites (I’ve got a lot of different inventories). I do the majority of the Ebay packing for the main store, none of the packing for the 2nd ebay store (random general store type stuff), and hardly any of the packing for normal book sales. Then, I do all of the Endicia shipping and the majority of tracking # uploading. I also do the majority of carrying of everything from here and there, which is good because I really need exercise somehow at this point. I do the majority of packaging for the main Ebay store because ephemera/collectible/rare book buyers are so finicky with their demands for packing that I just like to pack the packages up like Ft. Knox on a cloud to appease them so they don’t complain that I’ve wronged them somehow.
Heh, the Gary V. type youtube resellers. I have gone on many a rant about those swindlers.05/12/2020 at 1:49 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 462: What We’re Working Towards #77355
Yep, I’ve also got hundreds of items up in the adults only section. I figured that’s what was keeping me out of managed payments. 😀05/12/2020 at 11:32 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 462: What We’re Working Towards #77346
I’m listening to the podcast now. My 2nd Ebay store with 350 items in it got the email about being forced into managed payments by July. However, my main Ebay store with nearly 14,000 items in it is NOT being forced into managed payments by July. I suspect this is because I have inventory in the “prohibited” categories that are not accepted under managed payments. So no, not everyone is being forced into managed payments by July.05/12/2020 at 11:03 am in reply to: Photos of your item in front of a 90% bare bosom = eBay search manipulation? #77344
I’ve seen listings like this before and I just shake my head. Why are women willing to do this to sell $20 items?!?! Why do they feel their worth is so little?
