I hope so. When I was looking at one of my listings last night that was over 80″, the shipping was about $26.00 and I thought that couldn’t possibly include the $15.00. I will have to do some more investigation.
I was kinda fooling around, punching numbers into Pirate Ship and discovered you can get dinged for the over 30″ AND 2 cubic feet. I thought it was an or situation, not an and situation. Thought I would get that out there in case there were other people who didn’t realize that.
What are people doing about this, if anything?
I was going to enter a handling fee of $15.00 on my over 32″ and over 2 cubit feet items. Then I realized that Fedex is already cheaper for these items. So now I am thinking I will just remove USPS as an option, following Retro Treasure WV’s lead.
Thank you guys so much. You had a massively positive impact on my life. You have done so much for me and others. It was listening to you that made me take the leap and quit my job that I hated and move to the country to do ebay full time. I likely would have never made that change without you guys.
I wish you all the best. You will be sadly missed.
Phew. Thanks. It was the top Google search when I was looking at subscription comparison prices. I just assumed it was current, not from nearly a decade ago. They should take down some this old garbage.
Indysales, we cannot use managed payments. We are in Canada and ship from the US. We do everything in the US, but because we are in Canada we cannot have our store in US. The issue is that we do our banking in the US. We buy our gas and groceries in the US. Canada’s version of managed payments does not allow for Canadian buyers to use USD in their banking, so until this is fixed the many Canadians like me are not being put in managed payments.
Jay, we got an email from Paypal about the case. I immediately sent them screen grabs of our messages, showing I asked him to return for a refund and they proceeded to immediately take out the money. I then called them. Paypal then said the case was not filed with them, but with the credit card linked to their paypal account, so it is not their problem. When I asked about seller protection, they said that is only for items that were not received, not for items that were received. They said they forwarded my screen grabs to the credit card company and should hear back in 75 days, but that I should not expect to see the money again.
The reason he did not return the item is that he wanted it for free. It was pretty obvious from the get go that was his goal. He knows how to open a return I am sure since he opened an item not received case right after it was shipped and well before the expected delivery date given by ebay. He actually messaged me before he opened to box to tell me he was informed that the item was damaged, but had not had a chance to get home and open it. Then he said this antique item had a few more scuffs than pictured. I told him to return for full refund. I went from hearing from him several times a day to silence. I am pretty sure his goal was to get it for free from the get go.
I have two stores and anchor and a premium. I am with you. I have no urge to downgrade the premium store. I think the price is reasonable on that. The anchor store I find is way too high. It is a store with a lot of listings, but of low value items. My premium store actually brings in much more money ever month. The anchor store, after all the little bites taken out by stock and paypal is barely worth it.
I am 100% collectibles, so I should be fine.
Speaking of fine, my fine is also $1000. I am nervous. My email says:
We are pleased to offer all sellers with a current eBay Anchor store subscription an additional 75,000 zero insertion fee listings per month on qualifying items until the end of the year*.
I don’t want to pay this fine and then have to go back to an anchor come Jan 1, 2021. Does anyone have anything in writing saying it is permanent? I wonder if I should wait until Jan…
@spinachetr I would love to get to 75,000 also, my goal for now is 10,000, but I am still a little shy of 5,000. I have watched your videos and listened to your interview with Jay several times. You are an inspiration to me. Thanks.08/13/2020 at 9:33 am in reply to: What should I do about returned item when I rejected the return? #80649The package was opened and the packaging is long gone.
I won’t be refunding. I haven’t responded and haven’t decided if I will. Hopefully they won’t go the Paypal route.
Aside: Paypal makes me so mad. I had an issue with Ikea. They sent me something I did not order and told me the only way I would get a refund is if I returned it, on my dime. It would have cost me more to ship than the item was worth. I went to Paypal. They sided with Ikea. If it was me, with my ebay store, no way would that have happened.

Whenever this has happened to me I have contacted USPS and asked for an investigation. Every time I do that it ends up being delivered within 2 days. Recently I was in contact with the buyer’s PO and they said it must have been delivered. Tracking had said out for delivery for over a week. I told them the box was covered with ebay tape, if they could just have another look. The next day it was delivered.
Right now I am doing the same with Fedex. They are not as responsive as USPS. I am not holding out as much hope. This one has said out for delivery for over a week.
Well, my husband was quarantined coming back on Friday. He was told he was not essential commercial and therefore was being “served a quarantine order”. Since the US barred me awhile back that means we are kinda screwed. Winchester, I was wondering if it is the Calais Post Master/Mistress you had that arrangement with? At the very least we could get our small items out the door with that scheme.
Hi Winchester,
I was denied access today. I was with my husband and they said I was not essential, but he could come through. I am now barred until this mess is over. Just thought you might want a heads up.
Calais. Are you Calais too? It seems we have a sort of similar story. I quit my job and moved here from Toronto at the end of 2018.
Winchester, any updates? We went on Thursday and were given a confusing response. We were told if we came in as commercial it was up to us whether we were to quarantine or not. We don’t plan on trying again until Friday and things change rapidly, just wondering what others are experiencing.
