I was given this modern vase to sell, and I was able to get $43 for it. What a bad photo! I totally should have had a black background, but it sold anyway.

It had the name of a furniture store on the label, and I made sure to put it in the title. The guy who bought it collects items from that store. His grandparents were the “Dicksons” of the “Hin & Dickson Inc.”. I met up with him and his wife in a parking lot because I didn’t have a box big enough to ship it. It was very sentimental to them, and I really enjoyed meeting them and hearing their stories.

Last week I was at an estate sale full of vintage electronics. I bought one thing that I could easily research, but I’m sure I left a garage full of valuable stuff. I thought to myself that this is a Steve Schultz estate sale if I ever saw one lol.

I didn’t have a terrible week, but not a great one either. My weekly average over the last year is $635 so at least I was over that. Here’s some interesting things that I’ve sold…
It’s funny that you sold a Sansui brochure last week, as I too sold one! Maybe it was to the same buyer? This came in that box lot of ephemera that I got at an estate sale for $3. So I only have pennies into each piece. Mine also sold for $30.
Sansui BrochureMy big sale of the week came from a sulphide marble. I actually sold a few marbles for pretty good money last week, but this was the best one. If you don’t know what they are, sulphides are basically transparent glass marbles, usually bigger shooter ones, that have a little trinket inside. Usually a white colored animal, but sometimes they can be other items. They’re pretty collectable in the marble market. I paid $11 for this at an auction and sold it for $80. If you’re planning on selling marbles, you must be very specific on condition. Marble collectors are extremely picky.
Sulphide Cat MarbleI saw this old can of Recoton record cleaning solution at a yardsale for .25 cents. I thought the label was really cool and retro and figured someone might appreciate it for display. It was also still almost full of the cleaner. I priced it for $20 and it sold after a few months.
Recoton Record CleanerThis was a neat sale from my watch and clock part lot that continues to make me moola. It’s an old cuckoo clock bird part. The mouth moves when hooked up to whatever mechanism the clock uses. It seemed really old, so I priced it pretty high expecting to take a best offer. Well it sold for full price of $50.

LOUDMOUTH GOLF PANTS: I have a lot of quick and good sales with a brand called LOUDMOUTH which is obnoxiously tacky prints on golf pants and shorts. These sold for $59:

Ok, so this is sort of fun to look back and see what my better sales are. We have 3 ebay accounts, this is my husband’s account. Again, these sales are not necessarily within the last week, just some highlights of our better sales on that account.
DAIRI womens blouse. I had never seen or heard of this brand before, I just knew it was special when I saw / felt it in the store. It was so soft. I wore it a couple times before I sold it and I wanted to keep it but thought I’d better sell it instead. I’ve been doing ebay for a little over a year and a half now and over that time I’ve learned to identify higher end clothing by the way the tags look and the fabric feel, so I can usually just know now when something is special. This sold for $89.

Often times, I just sort of run my hands down a row of clothing and stop when I feel something good. This sold for $99.

KatieScott, thanks for sharing. I walk by cloths in thrift stores all the time, they scare the heck out of me. I personally don’t give a hoot about labels for my own cloths so it is a whole new language and universe to me. But your examples inspire me to give a closer look next time I go.
