“That cleaned up fairly easy with some alcohol … ah… denatured alcohol, I didn’t imbibe alcohol and then clean them up”
Too funny!!! LOL!!!!
The chess set was amazing!
A few sales from last week:
I was given this modern vase to sell, and I was able to get $43 for it. What a bad photo! I totally should have had a black background, but it sold anyway. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182835261046
My favorite sale, maybe of all time, is this vintage doll highchair. I bought it in an online auction for less than $1. It had the name of a furniture store on the label, and I made sure to put it in the title. The guy who bought it collects items from that store. His grandparents were the “Dicksons” of the “Hin & Dickson Inc.”. I met up with him and his wife in a parking lot because I didn’t have a box big enough to ship it. It was very sentimental to them, and I really enjoyed meeting them and hearing their stories. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182937494242
I bought this vintage milk can in an online auction for around $19 about a year ago. I was thinking that maybe I paid too much, but it finally sold for $80. http://www.ebay.com/itm/182461581068
Holy smokes on that chess set! Amazing! Great job packing it as well.
Last week I was at an estate sale full of vintage electronics. I bought one thing that I could easily research, but I’m sure I left a garage full of valuable stuff. I thought to myself that this is a Steve Schultz estate sale if I ever saw one lol.

Milk Jugs: Way before I was an ebay seller, I would buy things on ebay related to my family history – I don’t collect milk jugs but one had my family’s farm name and advertising on it and I bought it. I think I paid $20 but I would have paid more.
Love this retro kitchen fabric. At my favorite indy thrift the older ladies carefully measure it and write it on painters tape, which is great. I’ve got a bunch of fabric neglected in the piles but this got listed because I thought it was so cool. Paid $7 I think, https://www.ebay.com/itm/232509704098
I do pretty well with these Folkmanis puppets and I have a photo of the tag in my listing in case you are interested. I don’t love my photos here but it’s my new just-get-it-up in my dining room style listing. Paid $8 at indy thrift https://www.ebay.com/itm/332459638644.
I didn’t have a terrible week, but not a great one either. My weekly average over the last year is $635 so at least I was over that. Here’s some interesting things that I’ve sold…
It’s funny that you sold a Sansui brochure last week, as I too sold one! Maybe it was to the same buyer? This came in that box lot of ephemera that I got at an estate sale for $3. So I only have pennies into each piece. Mine also sold for $30. Sansui Brochure
My big sale of the week came from a sulphide marble. I actually sold a few marbles for pretty good money last week, but this was the best one. If you don’t know what they are, sulphides are basically transparent glass marbles, usually bigger shooter ones, that have a little trinket inside. Usually a white colored animal, but sometimes they can be other items. They’re pretty collectable in the marble market. I paid $11 for this at an auction and sold it for $80. If you’re planning on selling marbles, you must be very specific on condition. Marble collectors are extremely picky. Sulphide Cat Marble
I saw this old can of Recoton record cleaning solution at a yardsale for .25 cents. I thought the label was really cool and retro and figured someone might appreciate it for display. It was also still almost full of the cleaner. I priced it for $20 and it sold after a few months. Recoton Record Cleaner
This was a neat sale from my watch and clock part lot that continues to make me moola. It’s an old cuckoo clock bird part. The mouth moves when hooked up to whatever mechanism the clock uses. It seemed really old, so I priced it pretty high expecting to take a best offer. Well it sold for full price of $50. Antique Mechanical Cuckoo Bird Part
I just realized I could click the links to see the items – this is amazing! I feel like I’m going to learn so much from this forum. Thanks! and I’ll be sure to put in my links in the future.
Ok, these aren’t necessarily from the past week, but these are some of my better sales in what I’m calling my baby account – it is my newest ebay store, I have 2 other stores that are older.
LOUDMOUTH GOLF PANTS: I have a lot of quick and good sales with a brand called LOUDMOUTH which is obnoxiously tacky prints on golf pants and shorts. These sold for $59: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162876651007
LOT OF NIKE MENS GOLF SHORTS: I found these at the goodwill outlet and normally wouldn’t have picked them up but there were 6 pairs of what looked like brand new golf shorts. The same guy ended up buying all 6 pairs. This lot of 3 pairs sold for $45: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162875036291
JOHNNY WAS: If you see this brand of women’s clothing, pick it up. It always sells fast and for good money. This slip of a dress sold for $59: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162827272911
PRAIRIE UNDERGROUND: This is another brand of women’s clothing that sells fast and for good money. This dress sold for $49 https://www.ebay.com/itm/162816108080
Ok, so this is sort of fun to look back and see what my better sales are. We have 3 ebay accounts, this is my husband’s account. Again, these sales are not necessarily within the last week, just some highlights of our better sales on that account.
DAIRI womens blouse. I had never seen or heard of this brand before, I just knew it was special when I saw / felt it in the store. It was so soft. I wore it a couple times before I sold it and I wanted to keep it but thought I’d better sell it instead. I’ve been doing ebay for a little over a year and a half now and over that time I’ve learned to identify higher end clothing by the way the tags look and the fabric feel, so I can usually just know now when something is special. This sold for $89. https://www.ebay.com/itm/142617934304
WINTER KATE BY NICOLE RITCHIE silk jacket: This was another brand I’d never heard of but just knew it felt special when I saw and felt it in the thrift store. Often times, I just sort of run my hands down a row of clothing and stop when I feel something good. This sold for $99. https://www.ebay.com/itm/142617936192
DINNER IS SERVED – WAITER PAINTED DISHES: These just seemed goofy and weird enough to sell and they did for $39. https://www.ebay.com/itm/142578197810
LENOX DISHES: These felt special because they had little raised bumps around the edges. 13 saucers sold for $39 and I was so happy when the buyer said they all arrived intact. https://www.ebay.com/itm/142578251376
ST. JOHN: I luckily seem to be a St. John magnet, I find it all the time – which makes my aunt crazy because she lives in my town and taught me how to do ebay and she never finds it. These santana knit pants sold for $44. https://www.ebay.com/itm/142671783895
RALPH LAUREN PILLOW SHAMS: I have just started looking in the linens. I can’t believe how much these pillow cases sold for: $59! That seems so crazy but super wonderful, now I’m on the lookout for more. https://www.ebay.com/itm/142654331747
LULAROE: I pick up Lularoe less and less but if you find something with a really cool design that is in new condition and is on the bigger side of the sizes, get it. These tall and curvy bumblebee leggings sold for $36 https://www.ebay.com/itm/142658864180
BODEN: This is another brand that does consistently well, not super great but usually within the $25-$30 range. Once you get used to their colors and patterns it is pretty easy to spot. This skirt sold for $30 https://www.ebay.com/itm/142602623751
KatieScott, thanks for sharing. I walk by cloths in thrift stores all the time, they scare the heck out of me. I personally don’t give a hoot about labels for my own cloths so it is a whole new language and universe to me. But your examples inspire me to give a closer look next time I go.
