It’s nowhere near @retro-treasures-wv clothing and sneaker haul, but craig rex industries had a nice scavenger’s week.
This was an especially good week for online scavenging.
My signed military document of the week — it’s related to WW2 Hiroshima and the Enola Gay specifically so that should be $2 to $50 easily.
From the same seller, 4 autographed gold shiny whatevers of Bo Nickal, who is an up and coming UFC fighter. The PSA certification on the signature and Penn State inscription are what attracted me, since Penn State sports fans are fanatics who pay up, and the $40 shipping price deflated the final hammer price. I couldn’t find many Bo Nickal autographs for under $100, and these are unique so I may go as high as $150 each. First, I need to get some boxes for 19×19 items and other oddball items I have which need listing.
I also purchased this lot of uncertified autographed cards for about $100. I will submit about 15 of these for certification later this year at a cost of about $10 each, but the certification will add 3-4 times value, in part because forged signatures have always been a problem and in part because graded and authenticated cards present much more nicely in a special case. The Kirby Puckett (top row middle) will cover the cost of everything, the cards, and the autograph authentication fees, provided that it passes.
In the real world, the local bougie suburb had their quarterly library sale on Wednesday, and I got there about thirty minutes before opening to find that I was…about 25th! in line. Better than my usual last. Once the doors opened and everyone stampeded each other to get inside, I zigged to the media section while all the Amazon sellers zagged to look for…whatever they scan that makes an obnoxious scanner app cha-ching sound. They always find bins of stuff, but it seems like such a slog and most of them seem very miserable to me.
Unlike the Amazon sellers, I felt zen but didn’t find anything that I loved immediately until I hit CDs and found a long box Patsy Cline set. The outer box was in pretty terrible condition, so I opened the thing in and saw her signature on the booklet. Tossed it in my USPS bin and felt like I was finally off to a good start. Eventually I found a box which was almost completely full of throat chanting CDs and vedic chants and other fun stuff in that genre, and most of those went home with me. I found a nice amount of less glamorous but consistent selling $10-$20 items, too. I’ll go through the bin in more detail this week but those CDs will easily cover my price for everything, which was $100 on the nose.
Most interesting part of the trip – I did the research on the Patsy Cline box set and learned almost immediately that it is my stinker of the week! First problem was that my research brought up five Terapeak sales in the last two years, all under $20. Not what I expected at all. Next problem is that the set cost me $8, or $2/disc, which is one of my biggest pet peeves of secondhand pricing. Just pick a price and put it on the thing! I think it was the employee’s bugaboo too, because after apologizing multiple times for charging me so much for one item (especially since I had a bin full of stuff), on the next box set she said, I’m not going to count this, how about $4 and I said sure. It was a ten disc set, and $4 is the sticker price at most of these sales that don’t make buyers or sellers do algebra to give them money.
While I was writing this post, I did a little more research and learned, as most of you already know, that Patsy Cline died in a plane crash in 1963. So the inside of my booklet — which looks like this — is a facsimile signature, and me and the other sellers who put signed in the title were all listing before we learned. Sure enough, I did a search for the regular box set and there are a lot more sold listings, most in the $10 to $20 range because that’s what the set’s worth in decent condition, which mine is not in. Maybe I’ll put signed by Patsy Cline’s ghost in the title and see if my listing goes viral, or more likely donate it so the next scavenger can learn a cheap lesson.
What did you find this week?

I found 4 sets of this music curriculum – different grades – at Goodwill yesterday:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/175766486107?nordt=true&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc
That one sold for $200. There are others that have sold for good money in terapeak.
My trend of buying video game systems continued as I got an Xbox One S with games for $60 at a yardsale. After testing I decided to keep this one and sell the 360 as we can now play Halo Master Chief Collection. I took the weekend off of ebay working and played alot of Halo with my son. Lol!
Found one of these fully packed with awesome 45’s.

I love picking these totes up. I’ll list it as is and take photos of all the records. Will list at $100 and take offers.
A couple other odds n ends such as shoes and a few electronic devices that are worth around $100 each. I’ll get them listed this week and hopefully share them as solds next week! Lol!

A couple more items that I got listed today from weekend scavenging.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266339569246
Logitech MK570 Wireless Comfort Wave Keyboard and Mouse Combo Sealed
How could I not pick up a sealed wireless combo for $3? High STR item.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266339568626
brady idexpert handheld labeler Keyboard Layout In Box – tested
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266339566136
Honeywell Programmable Wireless Focuspro Thermostat Kit YTH6320R1001
Picked both of these up at a family run estate sale. No prices on anything, but once you got up to pay the guy got real precious with his pricing. Very frustrating but they were good items. I left behind a sirius boom box because it was incomplete and he wanted way too much.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/266339561940
Disney Pixar Cars Quick Changers Professor Z With Pop-Out Weapon
This is one of the gems in the Pixar Cars Lot I picked up. This is why I love them so much. Some of those cars are worth a ton to collectors.
One other item I forgot about that I just reminded myself of. I actually did pick up a sirius xm receiver/boom box combo at goodwill as it appears to be a lifetime sub unit. I couldn’t get good enough reception inside the store, but all the channels loaded. I need to test it out tonight to make sure.
I actually may keep it as my wife left my lifetime sub unit on inadvertently for a long holiday weekend and Sirius nuked it. GRRRRRR!!!!!!

The prices on that music curriculum are really surprising. I always give the kids section a browse when I’m looking for media because sometimes cool stuff ends up in there accidentally, but I’m not sure I’d give something like that a second thought.
With your 45s lot, one of the sneaky good additions eBay has made this year is 24 photos to a listing. It makes listing bulk lots a breeze — just click click click until you get pics of everything and then on to the next.

This was the golden week of finding textiles. In addition to the flea market haul, I came across a bunch of brand new linens at the thrift store. They didn’t really price them consistently so I had to leave some behind sadly. https://www.ebay.com/itm/235087419979 I bought 5-6 Williams Sonoma because that brand is reliable for the price I had to pay. There were about 30 pieces of new April Cornell and I bought about 10 of them, this one being the most expensive set. https://www.ebay.com/itm/334953036643 My best guess is that someone was a compulsive shopper and relatives donated these discontinued items. April Cornell went out of business here a few years back and this person evidently went nuts. All of that haul is listed. That thrift never runs sales, so sadly I left behind the $10-15 profit stuff. Elsewhere I also found two duvet sets from Pottery Barn and one from Restoration Hardware that has sold for $250+ on Ebay used. I definitely have the feeling pickers in my area don’t care about linens much.

The prices on your linens n things (ha) always impress me. But of course I can see the appeal to people who really want to spend money on decorating their house in a certain style.
Finding a niche that you know really well but your competition basically ignores is a huge advantage. I think it’s essential to selling full-time because it keeps the pipeline flowing relatively smoothly.
