Hey I listen to the podcast but rarely visit your forums. I went to ebay Open last year and this year. It is a lot of fun and my mom and my sisters go. We are all small sellers but that doesn’t stop us. The price includes almost all meals and unlimited access to a variety of ebay employees. The other sellers are all very friendly although we find the ebay motors people aren’t very chatty, lol. On the follow up survey they asked about where you would like to see future events held. I think they will always hold it during this timeframe bc it’s a good build up to 4th quarter.
Also, I don’t know if Troy mentioned it but they said they are going to continue doing promotions to drive traffic. That’s a great time to use your shipping coupon and one ebay employee with a large side business said he did exactly that.
Google did a great presentation about how to get your ad placed that turned away people bc the sessions were too full. Basically, keep that first photo a white background, don’t use all caps or unnecessary punctuation and include gender, style and occasion (mother’s day, etc) in the title to get you item showing up in google shopping or ads. Some sellers say that google does a better job of picking up their items on mercari or truegether but that is likely bc those platforms pay more than ebay at that moment.
If you can get there, I don’t think you would be disappointed. I met some people last year who became great friends after they shared a hotel room last year to save money. Some of the Facebook groups help facilitate this, maybe next year some of you scavengers could do the same to cut expenses.
Cheers!
