[Trash or Treasure]

In England this is called a hooky or a proddy rug. This is a link to a video by a textile artist explaining how to make one. There is a long tradition going back many years making these rugs out of suiting and old blankets. They were used on the floor but in very cold weather they were put on the beds to keep people warm.

There are some very fine examples which document regional history. Different designs were used in different regions.
