Could someone share a link to the GD bulk tool? I opted in a long time ago but I think there’s some kind of issue with my listings because I dont think any of mine are being included. Not sure why.

# of Hats Sold: 25 (80% of sales)Just low-priced sales for me this week which kept my total sales number down. We had one day without any sales at all which is pretty unusual now that we’re over 2,000 listings.
In regard to taking listings down for an extended period I was wondering if anyone knows if software like 6bit or Wonder Lister could be used for that. I know you can sync to your existing store so it seems likely one of these packages could do it.

# of Hats Sold: 35 (74% of sales)Pretty decent week this week. Tuesday and Wednesday were busy. I have a theory that I see a bump on pay day (eg: end of month). Has anyone else see a correlation with this?
You can see that my hats continue to sell even at this time of year. (I have a huge number of hats listed to get this many sales). My usual listing price is $19.95 but when I look at sales for other sellers I get the impression that the average hat sells for under $15.
It was good to hear Jay give a reminder about health insurance. A few weeks ago my son got a random eye infection (unknown cause). He was admitted to hospital a put on antibiotics. He was fine apart from a puffy eye but it took a few days to get the infection under control. The reason for mentioning this is that the hospital bill just came through. The hospital billed my insurance $45,000 for 3 nights. (I’m only responsible for a few thousand of that which is manageable). Without insurance a huge bill like that could be financially devastating for many people.

My highest priced sale was a set of 2-way radios that I actually got for free at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago. The person running the sale didn’t think they were worth anything and told me to just take them for free. Amazing. I didn’t know if they were worth anything until I looked them up when I got home.
The latest page to get the new eBay UI look is the bulk feedback page. š The new design just slows things down for me. Too bad they couldn’t leave that one alone. I might have to switch on auto-feedback. I’ve avoided doing that because I like to make my feedback a little more personalized.
I hope your Dad’s house comes through unscathed Christine. I’ve watched the news intently over the last few days. It looks the authorities are being very careful to get people out of the way as early as possible.
The fire situation has definitely made us consider what we’d do in a similar situation. We’ve never considered wildfires as being a possibility in all the years (decades) we’ve lived in the area.
Good luck with your job situation. Hope it works out one way or the other. I’ve been through multiple layoffs over the years at different jobs. Never pleasant even when it’s not you that personally gets laid off. My last layoff was 12 months ago. I must say I enjoyed having some freedom. I was diligent about looking for another 9-5 job but I also had lots of extra time for eBay and for mid-week visit to the Goodwill bins when I felt I’d earned a reward. It definitely helps to have some savings though. If you’re living paycheck-to-paycheck, a layoff could be devastating.
I didn’t realize that you guys were coming to the S.F area. The fires came on pretty unexpectedly. My son’s college (Santa Rosa Junior College) has been closed for the last 2 days due to the fires. Fortunately our immediate area hasn’t been threatened (we’re in northern Marin) but it’s a wake-up call. Nobody expects a suburban area to burn. When a Kmart and a Hilton burn in a wildfire you realize it’s something out of the ordinary.

Based on the past couple of years I’d expect to sales steadily rise from here but we’ll probably just get a 20% bump leading up to Christmas. (Used hats apparently dont make great presents.)

Technology has certainly made huge leaps in that regard in the last couple of years. It suddenly seems like a real possibility.

My Goodwill Outlet closed down last year so I had to switch to online arbitrage. I buy used hats in bulk online now and sell them individually. My average cost per hat jumped from 30 cents to $1.70 but there’s still money to be made if you know what will sell.
Storytime: Back in the 90s, my wife and I traveled around Europe for 2 summers in an old VW camper van (and I worked in England during the winter). Early in the first summer we were in Spain few a few weeks and at one point our old van was having mechanical trouble and overheating. We went into a VW dealer in a little Spanish town and had one of those horrible conversations where neither side could understand the other. (Even in countries where English is often spoken, mechanics usually don’t). Anyway, the mechanics agreed to take a look but we had to sleep in their parking lot overnight because they couldnāt see it till the following day. We killed the next day in town as well waiting to get the van and finally picked it up at the end of the second day. It was getting dark as we drove out of town but we need gas so I stopped on the gas station on the edge of town and filled up. We left the gas station and drove about 100 yards before the engine start sounding rough and huge plumes of black smoke started coming out of the exhaust. The van spluttered and died outside a milk factory. I quickly realized what I might had done ā¦. Sure enough, Iād filled up with gazole which I had assumed was gasoline but which was actually diesel fuel. It was the most miserable point in our entire trip. The next day we had to go back to the mechanics and tell them we were idiots and plead for more help. I was mortified with embarrassment.

I made lots of sales of recently-listed items (mainly video game related) this week so the median age of my sales was way down from where it normally is. (I generally have a median selling age of about 90 days).

I felt bad for getting a chuckle out of that.

# of Hats Sold: 20 (71% of sales)It felt like things slowed down for me week. I suspect back-to-school and end of summer activities have an influence on my sales. From past years numbers it looks like September is generally a bit slower for me and then things pick up in October.
I’ve been busy testing and listing video game systems that I’ve collected over the last year. It’s not a specialty for me. I just get them when I find them cheaply enough. Video games are much less trouble than the game systems.
I sold an HP-55 a few months ago for $185. I found it in a dirty garage at an estate sale and paid $1 for it. The HP-55 was one of the very early scientific calculators. I always grab old calculators when I see them but most aren’t worth more than $10 or $20.
Thanks for sharing a little more about your lives. It’s interesting to see some of those places after hearing about them for the last couple of years.
Where are you going on your next trip? I don’t remember whether you’ve told us.

# of Hats Sold: 21 (53% of sales)I picked up a box of about 30 new, sealed Sims PC games and expansion packs the other day at a garage sale. Mainly Sims 2 related items. I nearly walked off without them because I didn’t think they would be worth anything but I happened to check my phone and saw that one sold for decent money then the woman running the sale offered me the whole box for $25. Someone in her family worked for EA, the maker of Sims. I’ve sold $225 worth of games in lots from that box so far and still have about another 10 listings on eBay. It just shows that “new sealed” items are always worth looking at.
Glad you guys got to see a total eclipse. I believe it’s 7 years till the next one in the US. Time for the rest of us to plan to see it.
