Some sales from the last week. most of which were smaller priced items that I’d had for some time – happy to send them off!
Smith & Hawken leather blanket carrier. Came with a high end Jacobs Wool throw blanket (still up for sale) rolled up in it at an estate sale, all for $10. Sold for $24.99. Orig price tag still on it noted $29.99. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Smith-Hawken-Blanket-Carrier-Tan-Leather-Adjustable-Brass-Buckle/323084424418
Vintage Starrett Advertising Wheel Card. Didn’t really pay anything for it; was part of a lot purchased at a yard sale. Sold for $10. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Starrett-Advertising-Wheel-Card-Decimal-Equivalents-Tap-Threads-Drill/323072736764
Finally got around to listing this tablecloth once I got my dining table cleared off and could spread it out. Sold in a short time for $15, despite having stains, cigarette holes, and decidedly not great photos. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Mid-Century-45-x-86-Tablecloth-Blue-Green-Black-Olive-Striped-Defects/323044287712
Vintage Advertising Wall Thermometer, one of two that came with the house we bought last July. Sold for $15. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Henderson-Oil-Co-Advertising-Thermometer-Wall-Brackets-Norfolk-VA/322680659701
Vintage Alice in Wonderland Cheshire Cat Novelty Hand Crank Music Box. Have had this so long, I’m not sure where I got it or how much I paid, if anything. It was one of many personal items I’ve purged in recent years, after asking myself, “Why do I have this thing?” Sold for $30. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Alice-in-Wonderland-Cheshire-Cat-Japan-Music-Box-Mary-Poppins-My-Favorite-Things/322404663809
William & Mary Track Jacket. I’m sure I purchased this (thrift store) due to it being my alma mater, and oh how it has sat and not sold for years! From the early days of starting to purchase to sell, moving beyond selling my own things. Sold for $30. https://www.ebay.com/itm/EUC-W-M-William-Mary-College-Mens-Navy-Blue-Track-Jacket-Sz-Large/322374935679
Hoping for more interesting and higher dollar shares next week!
02/27/2018 at 11:22 am in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 349: Having A Huge Inventory Is Not The Goal, It’s The Strategy #33982Very blah week, sales-wise (half of last week!), though I got some listing in, which is good, as I’m traveling much of the next two weeks. Many of this past week’s sales were small dollar items, and many were old items that I was happy to see scoot. Spurred me on to put a lot of them on sale for the next few weeks.

Number of Items listed this week: 57Love hearing about everyone’s different business models and strategies. Life, and work, just isn’t one size fits all.
Scavenge of the week is perhaps a Baumalu French copper saute pan, for $4 at a local thrift. This small joy was sorely squashed later that evening when I realized I hadn’t registered the ending time of an online auction, and missed out on a matched (and mis-identified) pair of Reglor lamps – they went for $40. $40! I will be kicking myself when I’m 80 over this one…garrr. So, put a reminder on your phone/calendar, and be sure to enter your top price at the beginning!
02/21/2018 at 8:58 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 348: Acknowledge When Hard Work Pays Off #33583After lurking in the background, so to speak, for much of last year, I feel like I’m clearing my throat in a room of people I’ve been sitting with for some time….Hello!
Kicking things into a higher gear this year, as I go full-time and want to better track profits.
02/11/18 – 02/17/18
Total Items In Store: 750
Items Sold: 25
Cost of Items Sold: $101.50
Total Sales: $885.76 (incl shipping + the commission noted below, but doesn’t cover some mid-priced sales that must have not cleared between eBay and PayPal? They were showing as $0…)
Highest Price Sold: $300 (Seiko SRP777 Prospex Automatic Diver Mens Watch) – commission sale; personal highest sale: $100 (Patagonia Men’s Quarter Zip Cashmere Sweater; paid $6 at a Goodwill)
Average Price Sold: $35.43
Returns/Refunds: 0
Money Spent on New Inventory This Week: $124.05 (mostly estate sales, one thrift)
Number of Items listed this week: 30Moved to my town last July, and haven’t found any good auctions yet nearby, so have been leaning on estate sales and online auctions – the former sometimes with prices higher than I’d like to be spending on inventory, but it’s been hard to say no when it’s still a “good deal.” Trying to break away from personal good deal, to business good deal – a focus for 2018 for sure. Another goal – due to my space constraints – is to move towards fewer items at higher price points, so joining the group there. My ceilings aren’t tall enough to accommodate all the bankers boxes and metro shelving I could put to use.
Scavenge of the week was a Snap On Wrench set for $12. Dirty, but hoping to get over $200 for it.
