Number of items listed this week: 52Well, that week pretty much sucked. Sales and sourcing were both very soft. My parents are moving, and already started giving me a bunch of stuff, so I’ve been getting some free inventory. Free is good. Didn’t hit my listing goal last week, but this week I’m on track to hit it, even with the holiday.
Here’s to a better week.

Number of items listed this week: 23Thankfully, the estate sales were decent this week. I finally have stuff to list! My goal is 75 new listings by Friday. I also got a huge lot of vintage Syracuse china for free. Looks like the pattern I was given does pretty well. But man, is it ever boring to list. But hey, it’s free money once it starts selling. Can’t beat that.
Have a great week, everyone.

Number of items listed this week: 25I can’t believe I spaced on posting my numbers! It’s been a crazy week, but better late than never.
Not much to post about. Sales the previous week were amazing, then they fell off a cliff. Estate sales and the thrifts were dreadful, so not much listing going on. But lots of forthcoming sales, so hopefully this trend will change.

Thanks Jay. And happy belated birthday.
One (possibly stupid) question about meal prep: since you two do it bento box style, how do you reheat the hot stuff and keep the cold stuff cold? A separate plate? I bought individual containers for each dish, side dish, and salad/cold stuff. This is all very new to me.

Number of items listed this week: 16So crazy. Despite a serious lack of listing, I still had one of my best weeks of the year. Lots of higher end items, including some sales north of $100 bucks. A few weeks ago I bought a bunch of Egyptian and Lebanese records at an estate sale, then listed them nice and high. I sold a few of them this week; $50, $40, etc. Paid a buck a piece.
I’m finally getting on board with meal prep. I started P90X two weeks ago, so meal prepping will help keep my diet on track. I’m already vegetarian, but this weeks plan is mostly vegan. It’s a four day plan, so tonight I do all the cooking. I’m actually looking forward to it! This new schedule allows me to get so much more done. Shoulda done it long ago.
Here’s to another great week, for me and for the rest of us scavengers.

Number of items listed this week: 18I never cared about keeping up with the Joneses, or anyone else for that matter. Flashy new stuff does nothing for me, but put me in a store full of old stuff and I go bananas.
Personal issues kept me from listing much last week. Slowly working through them and being more productive. But another big factor is lack of inventory. No estate sales last week, and the thrifts have been awful. I’ve been leaving empty handed after every visit. Last weekend was Yard Sale Weekend in a neighboring city, and I spent the entire morning and early afternoon out picking. I found nothing. Absolutely nothing. So frustrating. My death pile has been reduced to a death shelf, and there ain’t much on it. I’m about to dig through my closet and see if there’s any vintage I can part with. I have a ton of clothes, so it shouldn’t be difficult.
Hope everyone is having a great week.

Number of items listed this week: 61What a coincidence! I went to my first house clean out on Sunday. A friend of a friend is a total scavenger: eBay, antique mall spaces, Craigslist, swap meets, Offer Up…the whole gamut. He gets most of his inventory from doing these house clean outs. Since he usually gets the call for a job after the estate sale people pass, the houses he cleans aren’t packed with treasures. But he’s a quick turn-and-burn guy, and he seems to always be working deals. Our mutual friend invited me over, so I poked around for a while. Nothing amazing, but I found a few nice things. And it was super fun, especially talking shop with a fellow scavenger.
Hope everyone is having a great week.

Number of items listed this week: 40Rydell Relics Bargain Basement! Dig that average price..ugh. I took a few days off last week for some personal stuff, and it’s clearly reflected in my sales. “Soft” is an understatement. But this week I’ve been listing consistently, and sales have been pretty good.
Finally had a great haul at the estate sales this weekend. One guy was selling his own stuff at his own house; more of a moving sale, but he still had a ton of great stuff. He’s a collector, so he knew the potential value of his stuff. Even so, I still got a pretty good deal. Some of the stuff is going to require a bit more work; I have to sort through a large box of 45 records and a box of about 400 vintage advertising pens. But that’s part of the fun, right?

05/14/2018 at 10:41 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 360: Is Diversification a Myth or Reality? #39933Thank man! Average price is low, but the volume was there. And I’m not crazy about getting up early, but you can’t argue with the results. I’m getting so much more done each day.

Number of items listed this week: 44Thank you to everyone who responded to my schedule change post. I appreciate the insight and advice.
Very excited to hear this week’s episode. I feel like I’ve been bombarded lately with people insisting I have to try Etsy, Poshmark, etc. But my thing is like most: I’m worried that it’ll be taking time away from a proven moneymaker to try an experiment on platforms that don’t garner as many sales. And I’m not at the point where I can take time away from eBay. Maybe as sales grow I’ll consider it.

Number of items listed this week: 59Soft week, for sure. But I’m ok with it because I have a new way of working in place that is already boosting my productivity.
Last week, I came to realize that my entire way of working was, well, NOT working. I’m a night owl, so I would usually work from around 2pm to around 11pm, roughly the same hours I worked at the record store. I thought I was getting the same amount of work done as the 9 to 5-ers, but that definitely was not the case. Truth is, I wasn’t even close to getting as much done as I should have been. So I completely changed my schedule. I’m up at 7am, then work a full 8 hours, if not more. I am shocked and pleasantly surprised how much I’m getting done on eBay and in other areas of my life. I’m more motivated. My house is clean. I’m drinking less. I’m actually tired when I crawl into bed. I don’t think I’ll ever be a morning person, but I’ve been pushing through the discomfort and getting things done. Feels great.
Have a great week, all!

Number of items listed this week: 35I had some heavy life stuff happen last week, so listing took a back seat. I think my soft sales reflect that. But I’ve already passed last week’s listing total, and it’s only Tuesday.
Have a great week, everyone!
