Paul, congrats on the new car! I appreciate your honesty about your struggles. It helps me because I have struggles of my own. Mostly analysis paralysis. Hope to get my itty bitty numbers posted soon. It will be fun to see my eventual improvement. I’m not quitting, even if I don’t get better.

I have been thinking a lot about this topic. I am new and a sloooow lister but i already have an expensive California storage unit because why not? My living expenses are low, I have another business that pays the bills and I think of storage is an investment. I absolutely CANNOT stand the idea of selling thousands of cheap (junk mostly) items for 5-8 dollars profit.

The only potential downsides as I see them are: Something could happen with eBay and I’d have a heck of a time getting rid of the things. Also, you have to be REALLY organized which I’m not always so I might lose stuff! That would be bad.

Are there any other potential downsides you guys can think of?

Replacements is awesome. Where they around before eBay?

Thanks! I really lucked out with the helmet. Grabbed it at a yardsale where I thought there was NOTHING good. I just kept looking things up on my phone until I found it.

Curious about your brother’s amazon biz. What if the item is no longer in the store when he goes to fulfill the order? Does he just take the hit to his rating?

I may not bother tracking them. Like someone else mentioned, I know a lot of what I need to know already. (always open to new learning though, of course!)

Great podcast. I liked the expectation sermon a lot. I think we have to be careful who we listen to on youtube. I’m sure some of those guys make lots of money but most people toil away in obscurity for a long while, paying their bills, enjoying their lives and that’s enough for most of us.

Haul videos used to make me jealous because I just don’t find that kind of stuff in my area. But that’s life! I work with what I have and I’ve stopped watching haul videos.

FWIW I buy bitcoin at a bitcoin atm. There are 3 in my small city now! I leave the coins on the paper I get. I store the paper like I would cash. For the long term, it is good to check in on the paper every six months or so to make sure the print isn’t fading. It’s not the paper that is valuable, it is what is on it so if it’s beginning to fade, just make a copy with a machine or by hand and throw the first copy away.

And yes, the bitcoin atm system can get hacked. Anything can get hacked but I feel safer somehow having the papers than both trusting a device not to crash AND an untested internet wallet not to be hacked. Just my two cents…err, my two bits.

Hi Everyone and Happy Holidays! Thanks Jay and Ryanne for another inspiring video.

I’ve decided to start posting my numbers even though they are not high at all. It’s all about improving my life and it will be great to look back later and see how far I’ve come. Quick bio:
I’m a dog walker and sitter in Southern California. I’ve been self employed for at least a decade. I’m a beginner to ebay (after dabbling a few years ago) and still trying to figure out my strategy. I’m taking into account my time/energy/space restraints. I’m leaning toward rare/beautiful/weird/high priced items I find at thrifts/yardsales/estate sales and wherever else I can find them.

I would eventually like to make reselling my full time gig because I like the mobility it allows.

Bad publicity for Amazon! Yipes!

We’ll probably see more of this in future as people from different cultures are coming to live here from all over the world. I’m sure we’ll adapt.

I don’ buy much but when I do, I buy at the GW, SA or yardsailing.

This week, I bought a couple of wool Orvis sweaters from ebay. Turns out one has a moth hole though, which I was very disappointed about (but did not complain to seller). I’m planning to try to do some kind of fashionable patchwork on it…we’ll see if THAT happens.

Also got a couple of those square baskets from pottery barn that kids put toys in, I think. They have nice blue and white gingham linings. I could sell the baskets and linings separately on ebay for a few bucks but I “needed” them to put some books in. I still might sell the liners…we’ll see.
