I was also looking at the new listing tool on my desktop computer the other day. Visually, it looks a lot like the mobile apps listing tool. I’m not sure I like it, but I’m one of those “adverse to change” types. I do love that we can upload video directly to a listing now. That’s definitely a feature that should have been implemented years ago. Maybe I missed this, but I couldn’t find the field where you can enter a unique SKU. Does anyone know if they removed the SKU field from the new listing tool? If so, I’m gonna have to figure out a new way to track my inventory on eBay.
I thought I had posted my numbers here on Monday, but apparently not.

I’m still pleased with the numbers compared to where I was at last year though. So far, one of the three returns has been shipped, so we’ll see about the other two. The one that was shipped was for a $90 sterling silver bracelet though, so I’m less than pleased about that. The buyer claimed he didn’t like how the clasp fit together. Years ago I might have argued with the buyer, but I usually take the zen approach these days. As Jay says (paraphrased), refund, relist, and say the bare minimum to the buyer.
Thanks for the info Sharyn. My packages got lost in Memphis, TN this time, but I also had issues with packages passing through Kentucky last year. It’s almost like those two states have turned into USPS black holes.
Glad to hear the coffee shop is bustling! One of these days I hope to find time to come grab a cup of coffee and say hi. I grew up in Christiansburg, VA and still have family there so I’m not too far from your neck of the woods whenever I visit my parents.

I’ve got 18 medium sized moving boxes stuffed with clothes from several storage lockers I’ve picked up. My goal for the forseeable future is to work on clothing for the first half of the day and then switch over to hard goods in the afternoon. That way I don’t get bogged down in the drudgery (for me) that is clothing.
One big issue I’ve been fighting this past week has been lost packages. I’ve had four packages, all shipped parcel select, that have not had tracking updated in almost two weeks. Several angry customers contacted me this week which tipped me off to the problem. In each case, once I opened a missing mail search, tracking updated within 24 hours and 3 of the 4 packages have been delivered. Still no news on the fourth package though. Has anyone else been having issues with lost items lately? All these packages were shipped around the 10th of March.
03/24/2022 at 11:06 am in reply to: Taillights, Trucker hat, Antique Guest Booke, Replacement record changers #95590Sales have been steady over the last week. Lots of bread and butter items like clothes, shoes, glassware, etc have been selling. Below are some of the highlights and oddities I’ve sold over the last seven days.
Sterling silver antique citrus wedge juicer. Took me forever to figure out what this was. I got it in a 20 pound box of unsorted jewelry I bought off of eBay for $100 a few years ago. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185071529876
Pair of Air Jordan sneakers I got for free out of a storage locker. The place I’m renting a locker at sometimes lets me go through stuff that’s left behind when people move out. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185089833347
Set of two brass rubbings from a 15th century grave. My girlfriend actually found these in a thrift store. She paid around $10 for the pair. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185271417763
Red hurricane glass lamp. This was another find by my girlfriend. She has excellent taste! https://www.ebay.com/itm/185271417763
Sterling silver chunky bracelet that I got out of a locker I paid for. Most of the locker turned out to be super junky, but there were a few assorted treasures inside. I ended up paying around $110 for the locker after fees. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185335191482
Vintage Techtronics headphones. I thought of Steve when I picked these up in a box lot at an estate auction a few years ago. I finally got around to posting them and had a best offer of $50 come in almost overnight. I probably should have sat on them for longer, but I really wanted more sales that day so I snatched up the offer. These are going to a buyer in China. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185348227330
NFL Eagles mascot bobble head. Yet another estate auction box lot item. Sold this for full asking price within 20 minutes of posting it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/185348507337
Hey everyone! It’s been a few years since I’ve posted on here. I like to lurk from time to time, but I wanted to start contributing to this great community. I started selling on eBay a few years ago as a hobby and for side income with the dream of making this my full time job some day. I was also working from home as an independent contractor for a Chinese ESL company teaching English to kids, but China changed the laws regarding outside teachers which essentially caused the collapse of the ESL industry back in November. I’ve been selling on eBay full time ever since. With a few exceptions, my numbers have been ramping up each month, which has been really nice to see. I’ve taken the process that Jay and Ryanne preach in the podcast to heart and have modeled much of my own workflow and thoughts to coincide with theirs. With all that being said, on to the numbers!

Number of items listed this week: 20This past week was the slowest I’ve had in a long time. The week started off strong, but then quickly tapered out to around one low dollar sale per day. Either way, I’m trying to steadily post items to keep my inventory numbers climbing. The goal is to have 1,000 listings by the end of first quarter next year. I did get a $250 offer on a pair of Pioneer speakers this morning that I bought for $2.35 through a MaxSold auction. I smashed that accept offer button as fast as I could. Even better, the buyer paid a couple minutes later. What a nice start to the week! Now I’m off to watch YouTube videos on how to pack seriously large items.
Hi everyone! I didn’t get a chance to post my numbers last week so I’m going to post this week and last below.

Number of items listed this week: 20I was pretty worried about sales this past week. I did not get a single sale on Wednesday and Thursday, but Friday, Saturday, and Sunday more than made up for it. Right now I’m working on getting all of my death piles cleared out and posted. The goal is to have everything up before Christmas. Even if nothing sells, it will be posted and in the pipeline for the future.

Number of items listed this week: 2A lot of other stuff this past week kept me from doing much with my eBay store, but sales were steady throughout the week. This week my goal is to post at least 35 items (5 items per day average). I also want to do some cleaning and organizing around my apartment. I just upgraded from a 5X5 storage unit to a 10X10, so there’s a ton of things I’ve already posted to eBay I want to move out of my home.
Jay, you hit the nail on the head. The metro Atlanta area has at least half a dozen auctions every week, most with pickups scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The majority of the time the auctions are close enough to each other (within an hour driving distance) that I can bid on items from multiple auctions and make a day out of picking up a bunch of stuff. Unfortunately I live about an hour and a half away from Atlanta, but Maxsold has become my main method of sourcing these days. While the driving time investment is high for me, I figure if I’m not driving around sourcing most other days it is worth it.
I have struggled to find any auctions near me that do box lots so I’ve resorted to using Maxsold to source large lots of inventory for cheap. I routinely am able to pick up lots for a dollar or two, and almost always find a single item that paid for both the lot as well as the gas it took to pick up everything. One of my favorite things to do is to view an auction a couple hours before it closes and put in $1 bids on anything that hasn’t gotten a bid yet. The people who run the auctions also aren’t always the best at taking quality photographs/staging items for pictures so some lots may look like there really isn’t anything great there. I think this keeps a lot of people from bidding on items because it’s so hard to tell what you’re getting. I’ve found I’m able to get stuff so cheap that even if the majority of the items aren’t that great, there’s always enough hidden gems to make the time and money investment worth it.
Here’s an example of one of the $1 lots I was able to pick up. I’ve already sold 4 things for a net profit of $58.45 and have another 26 items listed with an average list price of $25.18.
https://maxsold.maxsold.com/auction/12257/item/religious-tapes-and-media-a-1135501/This past Saturday I picked this lot up for $2 and will be testing it and posting it to eBay this week.
https://maxsold.maxsold.com/auction/12859/item/electronics-sansui-and-technics-a-1172480/Finally, here’s an example of a lot I took a chance on even though the pictures weren’t that great. This is the lot I mentioned in this week’s podcast thread that had the Ferragamos, Coach, and Gucci shoes/boots.

Number of items listed this week: 47Hey everyone! Super excited to have finally taken the leap and joined the online forum. My eBay store is set up exactly as Jay and Ryanne always preach – good till canceled with everything plus the kitchen sink listed. Over time I have tried to stop posting low dollar items and refuse to post anything below $5 now. I realize this is still a really low number, but as time progresses I plan to increase this number to drive my average sold price up.
I want to brag about two scavenges I made this week. The first was from a Maxsold auction for a bunch of women’s shoes and boots. The photos were awful, but I took a chance and managed to win the lot for ~ $6.50. Turns out there were 21 pairs of shoes/boots. Out of the 21 pairs, 7 pairs are Ferragamos, 1 pair is Gucci, three pairs are Coach, and one pair are brand new Fryes in the box!!! The downside was that a lot of them were covered in mildew, and I ended up spending close to $50 on an ozone generator to help get the intense mildew smell out of them. The good news is that the ozone worked, and after cleaning all of them up most look to be in excellent condition. This was the first time I’ve ever found any of these high end brands “in the wild”. After listening to Jay and Ryanne talk about Ferragamos for so long I darn near had a stroke when I discovered I had so many!
The second scavenge came about through good will I’ve cultivated with a storage company I rent a locker from. They recently had a couple storage lockers that went up for auction that nobody bid on. The manager asked if I would help her clean out the unit. In exchange she told me I could keep anything I wanted, and emphasized that I could stop at any time. I ended up spending around seven hours there and came home with more pairs of jeans than I can count, an original oil painting, some fishing lures and a reel, a bunch of shoes, a jar of loose change totaling ~ $11.50, and a bunch of decent jackets. Paintings by the same artist are on eBay for $400 so I feel like I made out like a bandit!
