Agree with you Ryanne on other sellers asking you to list for them on ebay. For the same reason I do not like to to tell others I meet or know I sell on ebay. I usually am asked to put a few things on. I have one older guy that has a resell furniture store that said he did not want to do ebay , it was work, but would I list his furniture. No.I look at it as why would I go through all the work to help you make money when I have my own merchandise to list and pack. You have to kind of look at the circumstance when to if ever let others know we are ebay sellers. I have one person that only sets up at Flea Mkts .When she comes back from Roundtop Mkt sale in Texas her left overs she has a big sale and makes all of us other dealers /sellers deals . I have a estate sale owner that he says he marks his items so the ebayers will buy to resell. He follows our ebay stores and is excited for us when we make a profit . There is another estate sale firm that they wont make deals with ones who they think may resell. Others if they know you resell try to get you to buy everything on Saturday afternoon so they don’t have to get rid of it all. So it depends. Have a good week

Outright or another online accounting subscription is a good source to keep track of sales and expenses if you don’t make enough but are working towards that over 20,000 mark.Your accountant could use the numbers from there (Not trying to give expert tax advise just being helpful, anyone could tell you I am NOT an accountant ;)Although we have sold since 2000, it has only been recently we made over 20,000. My first 1099 I was actually excited . I felt like a real business ! Not just throwing something up on ebay to make quick cash like most of my family thought.Merry Christmas !
I agree some buy Christmas all year long. A few years ago I found a vintage Bottle Brush Wreath in early January. I listed it for buy it now thinking someone would eventually buy it( back when I was doing mostly auctions and just converted to store) and it was purchased within a few days. It’s worth listing
Good customer service ! I type a personal short thank you for your purchase… email and write thank you on my packing slips. I have purchased from sellers and have received no thank you , or response at all. Sometimes even no feedback.Even if your a large volume seller , you can take the time to create a auto email (most do)I say treat buyers as you want to be treated. Sounds like you do
I would ask buyer not to try to fix it and just return it. It has been my experience that when a customer wants to fix something it can cause more issues .

Yes, I was surprised to at how just angry this guy seemed. He actually yelled at me.Not the normal customer service from ebay. Told my husband maybe he was extra holiday help. I normally would have tried again or waited until Monday, but I had my kids coming home for the weekend and I just wanted to get it settled, either way.Thing was I knew I could do a refund appeal , ebay told me last time that is what I should ask to do.They do not want sellers to be out of money for damaged items. Hopefully my husband can try to fix them and I can relist as repaired, or since I am not out of any money I’m thinking of just keeping them. Listening to you Ryanne talk about customers asking for free shipping. I have had more ask for free shipping the last couple weeks.Maybe they think since it’s the holidays I’m willing to deal. Which I am , but I’m not going to loose money either.
I think ebay may need to rethink the return policy for some categories. Your glasses that were returned with one chipped is an example of either a switch (or they removed the label) or on some items buyers don’t or can’t pack for return as well as us sellers. I will say It was not an easy call the second time. I was transferred to the rudest rep I have ever talked to, and I have sold on ebay since 2000. He just kept saying explain why you think your buyer would do this to you, she has no reason to damage this. When I asked if he was saying I was going to have to take the loss , he said yes then I asked to talk to a supervisor, he said why do you want to do that, then he finally put me on hold and came back with they would pay the refund and not take it out of my paypal. I have started charging a 10 % restocking fee. If you sell glass you may consider that also. Like I said, with what I sell I have only had a few returns, and only one went smoothly (they were brass candlesticks that were too small). Just hate to see such beautiful items damaged

12/05/2016 at 3:15 pm in reply to: Ebay Shipping Information, Statistics and New Freight Program #7229I have done a couple higher price chairs freight before and it was alot of work packing.I have also passed up a few items recently knowing it would be work packing, and I just can’t mess with heavy items anymore. But I would for sure list a beautiful mid century chair again if ebay streamlines the freight process. Right now we have also scaled back to shipping furniture that we can unscrew the legs or remove the base and are able to purchase a box or simply list local pick up. Sometimes my husband has had to be the voice of reason and say , no I think that will be too much work to ship. But I hate passing up anything I know I can make a good profit on.Will read up on it this afternoon. I will say , when I do disassemble anything , I make sure to add to listing that legs will be removed for shipping , etc. Have had a few buyers early on mention that I should have added that to the listing.
