Getting to the bottom of which image hosting services play nicely with the forum is definitely on the list of to-do’s. In the meantime I think it’s helpful that people are trying different services so we can note what currently works.
Attempting to describe how image display is failing by using images may be an exercise in futility, but the links below should at least be correct.

For someone’s (or my) task list: create test posts using common image/video objects (gif, jpg, png, youtube, vimeo, etc.), see how they render in the forum & start to try & identify what what needs to be fixed.
