There’s definitely more money in individual listings, but if you’re considering hiring someone to help you list, you need to think about profit gained in individual listing (as opposed to lots) vs cost of paying an employee. May still be worth it to hire, but definitely do the math! Good luck!
Have you thought about lotting hats together to save you listing time? Like throwing all the 7up hats together or Pepsi hats together? You mentioned buyers at the same address buying multiple hats anyways, so maybe lots aren’t a bad option? Still, I don’t envy you having to photograph 4k hats. Yikes.
Super helpful, thank you so much for taking the time. I’m sure I’ll make some mistakes as well, but until I figure it out I’m staying away from some bigger items (though the dvd recorders and record players are tempting).
I really should spend more time with the folks at the post office, but whenever I go there’s a line so I feel the pressure.
I’ve already bought myself some polys and bubble mailers off ebay at .06-.08 per (the vendor is Quebec based actually!) but I”ll check out the Canada post options next time. And for boxes, while standard sizes would help, I live in a condo building and our recycling room provides all the free boxes I could possibly want, so I’m hesitant to “buy” any.
Thanks again for you help, I really appreciate it.
Hey Inglewood, thanks for the tips. I need to figure out the rules as you said. I also only use Canada Post for now, but my goal was to come up with a way to not necessarily do calculated shipping on everything, in case that turns away further buyers. Unfortunately where I live Canada Post does not come to anybody’s door to do pickup, so I have to go to the post office for each package anyways.
Inglewood, that’s a great tip. I always assumed that the bilingual/french games would be worth less than the English games because of a smaller market.
And I do have the Canada Post small biz account, but I’m not sure my 6 sales will give me much of a discount haha. One day!
I actually discovered garbage finds listening to the podcast. It’s insane what he finds!
Hi Nova Scotia! Canadian Ebayer here in Montreal. I was wondering about ChitChats but I’m not a shipping pro by any means. To use ChitChat do you need to only use flat rate shipping and estimate cost? Or do they have an online calculator where you input dimensions and it shows you how much to charge?
Visited Nova Scotia last fall for the first time and loved it. Was stuck in Halifax though, so a Cape Breton trip is warranted.
