Saved and printed several copies to start using. Thanks.
05/04/2018 at 6:44 pm in reply to: Fed Ex Shipping Problem with Large Art- Customer Not Available to Sign -Advice ? #39078I have a large piece of vintage art that I need to list and that will need to go via FedEx or UPS because of the size. I am still deciding if I should have it packed there or try to do it myself.
Selling price would be several hundred dollars but may not be above $750. I think I would still pay the extra for signature delivery.
One thing I would do is explicitly state in the description that signature is required on delivery.
05/03/2018 at 6:27 pm in reply to: Scavenger Life Episode 358: Knowing What You Know Right Now, Would You Start Your Business Today? #39006Made my first Bonanza sale! After hearing you mention Bonanza many times and hearing more about it in a FB group, I took the plunge and set up accounts with Bonanza and Trugether a couple weeks ago and synced up both with my eBay store.
I also have started adding 1st Class Intl to some listings and made my first sale to Canada.
Every avenue helps move me toward my goal.
I always use all or most of the 4 lines for shipping options. If less than 1 lb I start with 1st Class and then add Priority, PFRM, and local pick up. For books it goes Media Mail, Priority, maybe PFRM, local pickup. For regular heavy items it starts with Parcel Post, Priority, local pick up.
I live on the East coast and tried offering free shipping but always raised the price by the cost of shipping to West coast. Too many people wanted to make a low Best Offer that undercut the price increase. I went back to calculated shipping on most items so I could maintain a reasonable price.
I use it for my location (Box 1, Books, MCM, etc) plus I have now added the SKU (1011, etc) from the inventory tracker that is available from Mark Tew, the CPA who was on. I am now adding all my listed and sold inventory from 2018 into it and then will be adding new items as I get them. This will help me with my numbers and I can get them to share here.
Congratulations! I love your handle. Tiki is one of my interests.
I don’t think the shipping cost is an issue for many buyers, especially if they really want the item. My wife sold a Budweiser frogs beer mug to someone on Shetland Island in the UK. Mug sold for $8 and shipping to the GSP center in KY was almost $10 for the buyer, Who knows what the rest of shipping will be to their island in the North Atlantic, north of Scotland.
The wall art piece I mentioned in my call will have a shipping price of around $150-200 because of size and weight. I estimate it will be 6ft x 3ft and 26 lbs boxed. I still need to determine best method of packing and which shipper to use before I list.
The clubhouse worked out very well for the reception after the ceremony on the beach. We went back Sunday to celebrate our first anniversary.
Greetings from Orlando, FL. My wife and I were married on the Space Coast last year, in Satellite Beach (at Pelican Beach).
Joe, since the NV200 is my regular job vehicle, and my boss pays for the fuel, I don’t track the mileage. It is a great vehicle for most items and works great for my job. It has sliding doors on both sides and back doors that open all the way. From the front seats to back door is about 7 feet and almost 4 feet wide between the wheel wells. The main issue is inner height. As long as the piece is not too tall, you are good. I have transported lots in it from estate auctions or when I moved from an apartment to my house. I would like to get a used pickup for personal use to be able to get taller pieces.
We have a 2011 Nissan Rogue that is our personal vehicle and can handle a decent amount of small stuff but we have two car seats for the granddaughters my wife cares for during the week days. This weekend I found a nice piece of MCM wall art at St. Vincent DePaul Thrift and snatched it up without checking to see if it would fit (the piece is 60″x24″) but I was just able to get it in.
I drive a Nissan NV200 cargo van for work and use it whenever I know I am getting large items or lots of items. I loaded it full at one estate sale auction and another time I drove about 70 miles to pick up a vintage credenza I got from an online auction for $1. That piece is now in my office.
I, too, have received the emails from Ebay about customers with one of my items in their cart. I tried lowering the price on a couple items for 48 hrs to see if the items would be sold. Neither did. The Bob Marley t-shirt had 6 watchers on it, so I decided I would raise the price by $3 above the original price. Voila! It sold the same day. Today I received another email that shows 8 items in carts. I will wait 24 hrs to see if they get finalized or not and may revise prices on the old stock.
Another great podcast episode to keep me motivated while on the road for my regular job.
It was mentioned that eBay was going to start offering the guaranteed delivery option to more sellers. I received the following email from eBay to inform me about it.

January was pretty good for me – about $350. I’m still building up my store; I have about 270 items now. I heard the caller on the podcast mention his sales jumped after he bought a high priced golf club. I wonder what effect buying items has on your selling. I have been buying more items in the past month or so and I have seen increased sales and offers.
She contacted us December 6 that it had been 7+ days with no tracking updates. We are fine giving a refund if it is lost and then file a claim with USPS. Will USPS honor the claim if they show it not delivered? It was a Priority package.
