Thanks everyone! I had the opportunity to pose the question to a counter person at the post office, and also my regular mail carrier today. They both said it wasn’t a problem, and their scanners will read the barcode provided the tape was carefully and smoothly applied (no creases, bubbles, etc.). Both mentioned that although it’s inconvenient, they can manually input the tracking number, provided it’s legible through the tape. The usps counter person said I’d be doing myself a favor by taping over the barcode, as they see quite a few torn labels, in addition to ink runs.

Wanted to personally thank everyone for taking the time to respond to my question regarding a way to temporarily place some (not all) of my auctions on hold while I snowbird a few months this winter! I’ve experimented with “Old Dads” out of stock recommendation and it’s exactly what I needed! Thank you so much!
